OK so another story of an exploding mod, yes I know it's from lad Bible and yes I know we've all heard this a million times before.

Lad Goes Through Hell For Down's Syndrome Sufferer After E-Cig Explodes In His Pocket | The LAD Bible

BUT, there is a couple of things here that irritate the hell out of me:

1) "Something like this shouldn't have happened and even unregulated devices like this one should have a safety feature in it to prevent from going off like that."
They do have a safety feature, a massive one, it's the human using the device, lack of knowledge / common sense is your fault, not the devices. If you want a safer device then buy regulated.

2) "Thankfully Alex is making a quick recovery and is waiting for solicitors to reply to work out some sort of compensation."
Don't get me wrong I'm glad the guy is OK, but exactly who would he want compensation from? We've already established this was user error so unless he plans to sue himself...
How could he possibly sue the manufacturer? Maybe the battery company?

This post wasn't intended to get anyone's backs up or start another "these people make the rest of us look bad" war. I'm genuinely interested in the litigation side of things, surely unless the dedicated safety features fail on the device 99% of this stuff comes down to user error right?

Just got me thinking that's all, any thoughts folks?

Yeah, definitely user error. The burn victim is a care giver, and his client could have been burned or maimed as well.
Not saying he shouldn't vape whilst on duty, but he needs to use a safer 'to-go' rig that is more user-friendly. This would be a great application for a regulated mod.

I would be really surprised if he won any sort of compensation.

He'll likely attempt to sure whoever or wherever he bought the mod and while he is yet another idiot that didn't get his knowledge up to a level required I do wonder how hard it would be for every mech mod to have a booklet explaining safety matters. I love my Dimitri and don't think\agree that mechs should be banned but I think they maybe the thin end of the wedge in concessions that may happen. It always makes me laugh at this modern thing of a human and an inanimate object and the human is the victim every time. I suppose that's what happens when society has no winner sports events at school and personal responsibility is an alien concept to a growing number.

It just irritates me "should have a safety feature" this guy knew what he was using and seems to take no responsibility whatsoever.
In fact in these explosion stories it'd be really refreshing to hear someone say:
" You know what? I really shouldn't have been using an efest battery in a mech with a .03 build on it, that was really stupid of me and totally my fault."
But no, let's blame the mod and point the finger at everyone from the manufacturer to the vendor and try and make some money from my own incompetence.
