That is indeed a great article Lacey.

I happen to feel the more the e-cig is bashed, the more people will investigate and with investigation comes truth.

I have to edit my comment. I didn't mean this article bached the e-cig. I just meant that it seems all those negative voices have caused many people to really investigate in order to discover the truth such as Tiffany. :)

Thank you both for this article. We need more reporters who are more interested in reporting the truth than supporting false claims by biased big industries. Another member also made an excellent point: not every smoker will switch from tobacco to e-cigarettes, which is absolutely correct, so that certainly should negatively impact the claim of the tobacco industry that their bussines will be hurt. It's a shame that all of the controversy about e-cigarettes comes down to big money. Lives should be more important, but for politicians and FDA, money lines their pockets - lives do not.

PLEASE ... once again ... Lacey accurately called it a press release. It is NOT a press article done by a reporter. We had excellent examples of those yesterday from The New York Times and Wall Street Journal. Those are articles. This is PR. You might like it, but it is PR and has an extremely minimal influence on anyone.

The NYT and WSJ have influence. That Times story ran in virtually every affiliate in the country.

Thanks, Lacey, for at least trying to point out that this is not anything other than a PR puff piece.

TB - While it is a press release and I understand you being a journalist, needing to point out the difference between a press release and an article, press releases do make it into the world of journalism. We have seen stuff regurgitated from press releases into the news time and time again.

Instead receives calls from ABC, NBC, etc all the time noting that they saw x person in a press release say x and what we think about that statement. And as we all know from previous threads, some journalists openly admit that they do not have the time, nor do they get paid enough to do their own research, so they simply pull from press releases to get their articles. This is definitely some stuff I would love to see regurgitated! :)

Good article but at the bottom banner says are you interested in Marijuana and says get weed from Amsterdam wtf But other than that it is a good article nice find thank you!

This is a press release site so those banners rotate. It's another way for the site to make dinero. Go back in a couple of minutes and you will probably see a banner for an "adult toy" :)

Lacey, let's call press releases what they are: one-sided propaganda. That's it. They have a specific purpose -- promote and advance my agenda -- and make no attempt at being complete, fair or balanced. It is a sad time when press releases and blog opinion posts are somehow put on equal footing with real reporting. It speaks poorly for the future.

Yes, journalists sometimes use press releases to find sources. But use the information as is? If any paper does that, never trust that paper again. Find a new paper. Unless, of course, you enjoy a diet of propaganda instead of accurate, factual, fair, balanced articles.

TB - I couldn't agree with you more.

It is a travesty that news is on a 24 hour cycle and many reporters have lost journalistic integrity to report a fair and balanced report.

But, it is what it is and all we can do is prop up our side of the story as much as possible, so that users on this forum can be as informed as possible so they can make responsible comments where needed. And press release or not, this PR person did do some good research. :) (Being that it is "gossip" and we know the media loves to report gossip as much as news (even CNN reports gossip as I saw quite a bit on how Brittany Spears' little sister managed to get herself pregnant which I did not know until watching CNN)... it wouldn't be a bad thing if this was reported more in the news) ;)

Ahh... the world in which we live.
