I have read people say they don't dry burn spaced coils because there is no hot spots in spaced coils. They say it isn't necessary, and say flavor is better from not dry burning spaced coils etc.. I just tried a build without dry burning, and the first four or five hits were almost like I was vaping 100% PG where the throat hit was a little harsh. it wasn't a dry hit, but more harsh. After a few hits it smoothed out.

I always wipe my wire down and clean it to get any machine oil etc... off. I'm using cotton candy cotton.

What do you guys think. Dry burn spaced coils or not?

Personally I think you HAVE to dry burn coils. With new coils you want to burn any finger oils off of them and it is imperative to make sure they are functioning safety, correctly, and evenly. With used coils its the easiest way to get the burnt on carbon off of them so you can rewick them.

I do not dry burn my spaced coils. I wash the wire with dawn and rinse well before building. N80 definitely gunks much slower if it hasn't been dry burned.

I'll dry burn when I rewick, but only once or twice on a set of coils. Often, I'll just rebuild. I wick rayon and vape a lot of unflavored; so, I get a week or more out of a wick.

That horrible acrid flavor was a hot spot or hot leg. Mmmmmmm, aldehydes.
