I know how that goes. I was born in Newport News, Virginia. Pretty much everything there is less than 25 miles away from the water.

Yeah humidity sucks for sure .... The first couple of years I lived out here after moving here from Montana, it just about did me in for sure..... I have gotten a little more used to it but I don't think anyone ever really gets 100% used to it.

The last time I went out to visit, I was walking around in my grandparents' front yard. It was so humid that I watched rain form in front of me at eye level and drop to the ground.

Axiom, I should have been clear, my apology was to NCC who found my statement "repugnant," though it could well be I'm on his ignore list by now, LOL. :) If not NCC, my final answer is: I apologize and will try to remember that steriotypes are.... that, and word my statements accordingly. :)

I make fun of the French all the time, especially since I lived there in middle school, it was actually one of the happier moments of my childhood. But they're still, you know, the French. ;)

No worries, I knew you were talking to him..... I don't care much what people call me as long as it's not "too late for lunch" :w00t:

Yeah Virginia is directly below me and is even more humid than this place is....... I can't imagine living in Georgia or Florida where it is even more humid

I had to look it up but I guess I am a Gen X'r. :) From pew research, Generation X: America’s neglected ‘middle child’.

So basically, we're the stealth generation and I like it that way. Everyone says Gen Xrs are do-nothing inconsequential folks, but this was the part of the article I really liked:

For Xers, there’s one silver lining in all this. From everything we know about them, they’re savvy, skeptical and self-reliant; they’re not into preening or pampering, and they just might not give much of a hoot what others think of them. Or whether others think of them at all. :)

If I had to spend all my time on the above, I'd never get anything done, and I get *plenty* done, thank you, I just do it in my own style/stealth mode, it's easier....

Rainsong I have to agree with you, this is exactly the population we *need* to reach who are gonna die, and it doesn't have to be an argument about anything, really, including how people needing to quit should quit, and whatnot. I have no idea if cigar stores carry equipment at this point, but that might be a good place to take an older smoker if the Vape shop in your area sucks for that. :) Mine would be okay, if I took an older smoker there, I'm certain.

Also, IF ANYONE wants to convert smokers to vaping, I DEFY you to state that you think that vaping isn't less harmful than smoking, even if you want to quibble about research. Seriously. If you think it's that bad, why are you going on and on and on about potential risks and how nothing is known? @ZoiDiman, I'm talking to you. You never talked about the good things about vaping to *anyone?* for reals? Seriously? How self-centered are you? Because part of the good things about vaping is helping smokers who may know little find out about it, and that is still the MAIN point on this thread. I'm getting disgusted with quibbling about it.

Also, despite all the digression(s), I apologize, but seriously, it's okay to have fun taling about vaping isn't it? Even if it gets off topic from time to time? I DO THINK VAPING TODAY is also connected to what we are seeing with upcoming generations and how they've been molded by society into PC beings. We have all this apologist stuff about the dumb stuff (vaping) and millitance and power by the IMPORTANT STUFF (Big Tobacco).

Big Tobacco isn't going to care about you like I do, Baby Boomers, even IF I may gripe from time to time. Big Tobacco wants you sucking on a cancer stick from whatever age you started until you DIE. The government doesn't care (though it's showing some excellent caring about taxation of cigarettes, and maintaining their smoking base, until they're underground,) they aren't going to take the time to do ANYTHING other than to wipe out vaping if they can,) and I most certainly will, as even going DOWN the rabit hole of potential COPD was horrid, can't imagine dying from it. So, I will visit with some elderly folk if I can and talk about vaping, because that's reasonable advocacy. :)

But some members are so blind that they think that someone being UN-PC isn't concerned about you know, other people, all jokes aside, because PC has harmed more than it has hurt, at this point, I mean, it's gotten to the point of bludgeoning people with a stick until they feel they can't *say* anything and hence, *do* anything about a situation without getting criticized. That sucks and I defy it, you can criticize me to hell and back, but I'm still going to say what I want, and do what I want (within reason). It really, really just sucks more that I can even SAY. I'm going to bet that if I type in here the phrase "Mental ......ation" it's going to get automatically censored, even though it appears in the DSM as a diagnosis. So only SOME people get to use that word? Obviously, if it's a slur, deal with it, but these gigantic sweeping categories get on my last nerve and I have *fought them* and it's not EASY either, people get upset, but I still consider it the right thing to do.

I never had a nanny, and if I had? I'd probably have bitten her, I went through that stage :) My sister was a spitter, I would feel sorry for that nanny. So the nanny state doesn't do much for me either. There's so much ......n censorship these days, I threw my book through some editing software and the word "housewife" got flagged, to be replaced by "homemaker." ("This word is not considered politically correct.") I did not MAKE my home, I purchased it, and mostly my husband maintained it. That word was fundamentally INCORRECT and being both a wife and for a time with my kid a wife in my house? F OFF WORDS DON'T HURT, remember? Seriously, they really don't, not if you have any kind of grip on your own self esteem, which participation trophies don't help with. Kids aren't dumb, they KNOW if they need more practice at something, they just feel weird and confused. Worry more about what is HAPPENING around you and how what used to be a free society devolves into... something else. Because of a total lack of sanity when it comes to PC.

Okay, I'm going to get organized including finding a nice cool space for some DIY stuff that came. ;)

I'm all organized for DIY juice, including unpacking boxes from the housefire.... I'm excited, I gotta start reading up on those threads and DIY'ing it :) I don't know which particular song you are referring to, Billy Idol's okay, I guess, but I wouldn't put meeting him on my bucket list. Emenem is another story.... I would so love to sit down with that dude for a chat. NWA, that would be so great :) I was, ah, mostly listening to classical music (not by choice, my mom was crafting her little superstar violinist) and given what Bono turned into, I am ashamed to admit that U2 was my favorite band as a youth....

The French wear culottes. Who does that? :p There was some singer in France where my mother was in love with the song, which was pretty much an ode to wine. Since she had no idea of who was singing it, etc., she *forced* me to go into a French record shop and sing it to the guy behind the counter.... I was 11, and overflowed with a sincere lack of desire to do so and the guy behind the counter giggled for about 5 minutes.... Who does that? (My mommy's a boomer, LOL). That said she has been more than generous with her kids and other organizations :) :) Though I think she *is* planning to live forever, she's 70 and routinely travels to Jerusalem and other exciting places for weeks or months at a time.... My baby boomer stepdad was into all that life extension stuff and caught a treatable cancer but chose to rely on alt med and died. To be fair to his routine of chemo/steroids, I'm not sure I'd have wanted to continue that sort of treatment for decades, either. :)

Well, today I successfully breached the enclave that is the "Gated Over 55 Community" around here and talked to an office lady, including pointing out that I'd seen cigarettes in the ashtray outside and she gave me the number of the Social Director, so I'm going to call her, though office lady said I should wait until December when most people come back.... She also said, "Well, I don't see too many smokers out and about... But they usually stay home with their oxygen tanks." :( That made me very sad, even though I do at times poke fun at the elderly, so I'm definitely going to call Social Director lady and see if I can get her to bite. It was scary being in the "enclave" everything was all organized and clean and like, no steps anywhere, but I'm going to try it. Suggestions for what to say welcomed :) I did make it very clear I was not a vendor, just someone who had a personal interest in talking about vaping in a general way and how it can be helpful. Office lady seemed kinda surprised, actually.

    Anna,
You get it. When to "lawmakers" research Youtube(and they do) what do they see. Cloud chasers spouting the F bomb every other word. Their introduction is a massive cloud blown in the direction of the camera. Negative vibes right there. Who cares about what this mod is or which tank or atomizer to use. Use what fits you and there is no guidance out there. Terminology is another drawback. I know what a mod is, does grandpa. I am satisfied with my istick 30W with a Cubis tank and a .6 ohm atomizer. Many of the older generation who would like to vape get turned off by the terminology. Don't be afraid of us baby boomers, we maybe grumpy sometimes but we're not the enemy. The FDA is.
You have the right idea. There are people looking to show off and get attention and there are people looking to get off of the curse of tobacco. As is usually the case the show offs are the ones getting the most attention. Meanwhile they scare off the boomers that want to quite smoking and have been unsuccessful with pills, patches and cold turkey. I enjoy smoking making quitting doubly hard. Vape is the one and only answer I have to get off tobacco in my opinion.

I also am 71 (in 2 months), smoked for 50 years, 2 pads. Now am cigarette free for 4 years, I think there are some inconsiderate vapors, but the vast majority are very considerate of others.
God bless you in your success getting away from wicked tobacco!

I am 43 I originally started vaping in Dec. 2012. I first attempted it with a cig a like and that did nothing for me. I struggled with the low power devices and high resistance tanks that were the standard of that day. I bought a k101 and an igo w4 rda and that is when vaping finally clicked for me. I could get more from vaping that I could from a cigarette. cigarettes became unsatisfying after that. I think cloud comps are the silliest thing ever as well as dangerous. I haven't seen much about them lately. I do sub ohm and usually am at .24 on mechanical. I will go as low as .1 safely on a regulated device at 85 watts. I sub ohm because I can get a satisfying pull in 1 or 2 seconds. With the old low power devices I was taking drags that were stopped by the 10 second cutoff. I consider myself a Mod Whomper as it is known in these parts. I guess I am in the middle ground on everything.
Douchebags come in all types and I have seen people behaving impolitely with all kinds of devices. If someone doesn't have respect for others, it doesn't matter what they are doing be it vaping or driving or anything, they will behave disrespectfully.
The cloud chasers have helped push technology to the point it is at today. Everybody has benefitted from those advances in some form.
The fad has seemed to have died down a bit and has returned to the people who really need this. We are all on the same team here. Our means to save ourselves is being threatened not by cloud chasere but by the people who own our government. Instead of fighting each other we should focus on them and fight for our right to life.

I disagree. They make the consumer base larger which pumps more money into the industry, promoting growth and innovation.

Problem is that innovation is quite narrow minded. With a few exceptions is centered around highest wattage biggest clouds and big, colorful/weird tacky designs or cheap pocket pen and pod systems.

When I enter any local vape shop there are many high wattage mods and subohm tanks and almost zero MTL products...can you buy in your local vape shop Nautilus2, eGo one, iJoy Elf, Berserker... Siren... Ares...? It is even hard for me to find any local vape shop that have Nautilus BVC coils... and the worst thing is that most of those local vape shops offer older folks that sometimes smoked for 30 or 40 years Smok Baby Beast tanks with 0.15 or 0.25 ohm coils.... I wonder how many of those old smokers that tried them were able to quit and are still vaping...

I pretty much stopped going to vape shops a long time ago. They have large operating costs that they pass on to their customers and you get nothing for paying that premium. I bought 6 of the LG HG2's from a shop about a year ago(?) because I wanted a place to immediately return them if they were fakes or if they weren't in mint condition, and the guy that sold them to me lied about their specs. The thing is that there are tons of MTL products available and you can get them very cheaply online. The other end of the spectrum is still pushing battery capabilities and circuit board advances so I'm pretty happy about that. And we all benefit from a growing community. A rising tide lifts all boats.
