THREE different coils for Protank 3? Whaaaat?

Tonight I bought a 5 pack for my PT3. The photo shows the box, and the top coil is one from that pack. Screwed it into my Aerotank base (also tried the stock base), and it is too thick around the coil's base to fit into the tank's tube (the threads for the base and tank do not even touch). The middle coil is what my wife's PT3 uses-same diameter around the coil base, short chimney. The third (bottom) coil is what I have been using in my PT3. Same long chimney, but a narrow base.

The second photo shows my PT3 on the left; wife's on the right. Note that the top caps differ in shape, too. Doing a Google image search, I find samples of both types. Both seem authentic, but three different coils (I hope there are not 4+!) and different tank toppers make my wonder if there is a counterfeit thang going on, or if Kanger just pushes out updated products whenever.

One other thing-I went to the Kangertech website-they show only the wide base ling chimney coil. What is odd, though, is that the actual PT3, they don't list. Aerotank/mega, PT2, mini PT2, evods, T3s, yeah-but no PT3. Discontinued?

I want to say your coil is a protank 2 coil (single coil) and the top 2 are pt3 coils (dual coil). I know your pt says 3 on it, but maybe the base was mislabeled? I've seen both types of tanks, so I think they are authentic.

If you look inside the protank2 tank, like your filling it. The center tube will come up higher on the pt2 than on the pt3. So if one is higher than the other, you have a pt2, if there the same height, well I don't know then.

T-noggin: Yeah, maybe... My wife's came from one local B&M, mine from another. Packaging is nearly identical (different web addresses, image on front of my box not as clear-but very close). Inside is a slip of paper with a scratch label to reveal code. BOTH slips have this scratch coating PRINTED ON, so there is nothing to scratch. Weirdness.

So I noticed that the scratch-to-reveal number sticker was on the side of the red inner box. Duh. Scratched it, entered the number on the SZkanger.com website: counterfeit. Turns out that number has been checked 1689 times.
Not laughing out loud.

I figured as much. We have a vendor here locally who sells clearomizers he gets on Ebay. Been getting all my Protanks from here.
