So many of you feel I should keep a lighter for emergency fire, as I have, but being an Eagle Scout and knowing many ways to make fire, I. Thought I would share a trick with you.

We all carry a source of fire and dont realize it. Take a piece of steel wool, put it in a zip lock bag and stick it in the car or bag. If you need emergency fire, pull your tank off and touch the posts of your battery to the steel wool. Has to be unused steel wool. Try it with a 9 volt battery and see what happens, instant fire. Shouldnt hurt a simple battery like an ego, but wouldn't try it with a fancy rig unless it was an emergency. Have fun!

I've done this. Works really fast with a 9v. I'd still rather have a lighter though. Steel wool is hard to come by these days, specially in the brush. ;)

Get it out of the trash you will need it to light your torch for building micro coils. I know from experience I threw mine out and then had to actually got to 7-11 and get another when I started re building.

Hehe, ditto man. My wife used to ask me for a lighter when she wanted to fire up the wood burner...now she just heads into the kitchen for her spare. :D

I have them in my console where I can plainly see them when I am in my truck (I drive my truck 80 miles a day so we spend a lot of time together) They are there to remind myself that not smoking them is my CHOICE. I look at them and am able to say "I don't need you" It works for me.

Ditto. When I started vaping, I had an Altoids tin that I was using to carry my smokes (I rolled my own). I had 8 left when I got home from the vape store on Fri, Nov 1st. I had one after dinner while I was charging my 1st battery. I had 4 more over the next 6 days (and none since 11/6). I kept that tin with 3 cigarettes in it right out in the open for the next 12 days. I even used to take one out, smell it, draw air through it, and then put it back in the tin every morning. I finally tossed them in the trash on the 18th because even if I did want a smoke, those would have been nasty stale. I'm not hiding from smoking. I am kicking its ....
