My savings come on the liquid. I vape mostly unflavored that I mix for about 5 cents a mil. The other upside is that with the unflavored juice, my wicks and coils last forever and are very easy to clean.

I have never heard anyone say they vape unflavored juice. I'm not knocking on you, to each their own and all, but for the love of god WHY?

I like saving money. I still have some decent stuff, but I manage to not spend a ton. I have a Provari and a Vamo. I only bought the Vamo because my Provari had to be sent back for a new circuit board (which they awesomely replaced for free, even though it was out of warranty).

I mostly DIY. I buy nicotine in 100 mg/ml and that's been my main cost, because I stockpiled a bit, but even then, it wasn't much. 250 ml of 100 mg/ml will last me over a year, and I guess i spend less on that than some people spend in a month on liquids.

I used to buy boge cartomizers and use them in a home made syringe tank (which I loved). I got the cartos 25 or 50 at a time from Vapor Kings, so they were inexpensive (maybe less than $1 each, and I'd get 3-4 days out of each one). About 5-6 months ago I switched to the protank. I still just have the protank I, and I've only got two of them. I got replacement bases for, like, $1 each because my first base broke off. I got wick and wire and learned how to build coils. I do like fresh coils, and being able to make my own makes that inexpensive and easy.

For batteries, I have mostly 18650s; about 5-6 AW IMRs (some are pretty old, and I just keep them as back ups) and two panasonics. I skimped on the charger and just use a cheapo Trustfire. It's been fine.

I don't generally rush out and buy shiny new things. I've been considering getting another Provari or maybe going cheaper and trying the svd. Every now and then I get an expensive bottle of liquid as a treat. I get it in a higher strength than I normally use and rotate it occasionally with my DIY stuff.

Because I like it. It's the closest thing to real smoking that I have ever found. And I'm a cheap SOB.

Don't get me wrong. I have tried at least a hundred flavors, and mixed my own. I still use a couple for an occasional change. I still like unflavored for all day.

Whatever floats your boat, man. That's what's so awesome about vaping. Something for every taste.

My avatar is me with my Chemesis and a Fogger. Does that count? ;)

Absolutely!

I started with a couple of cheap cigalikes, used 4 ego-like batteries and mega cartos for about 6 months, then bought 2 inexpensive tube mods, one still works (Drawtube). About 3 months ago I bought a used Reo Grand in the classifieds and topped it with the Reomiser 2 atty. I anticipate no gear purchases for the foreseeable future. Spent a little on the Reo but it has been and will be an excellent investment, getting me to vape satisfaction.

I want to interject at this point that being thrifty doesn't necessarily being cheap. Investing in a solid mod like a Reo Grand, especially a used one, can be a very thrifty purchase. Combine it with an RBA and you've got a little more of an initial layout, but cheaper in the long run.

I started to say more about that but didn't want to derail your thread.

I'm definitely a chaep guy but you are so right. I now have a mod that is virtually indestructible, easily serviced, US made, will out last me, and it provides an awsome vape! With a lifetime supply of wick and wire on hand, I am set and quite happy to not be spending much on vaping.

Well it's refreshing to chat with folks who aren't into overspending! I saw a thread a few days ago where a guy asked "How do I save up to buy a....?". Got a bunch of answers but not one said "Spend less than you make"! I guess I'm a little old fashioned but when I want a big ticket item, I pinch my pennies, work more, whatever it takes to get me to my goal.

The hobby for some seems to be more about collecting. If that makes vaping enjoyable, fine. Doesn't work for me. My new shiny stuff will come from Dewalt and Ford!

The VTR looks like a solid piece of workmanship....I know it's sorta expensive, but I just wanted to throw that in :2c:
sorry

The VTR is an awesome mod and at under $71.05 (fast tech)now was a good choice for me(under 57.00 1n co-op...I prefer a heavy solid mod and wanted to have a VV VW device in addition to my Mech Mod(Legacy 2nd hand)...both mods can use the same high quality batteries and charger I already have. I hope that it has that lasting quality I am hoping for.
I think that it is possible to be thrifty while vaping and still have quality equipment and juices you enjoy. I have broke even with what I would have spent on cigarettes at the 3 month mark. I have discovered the juices I love. I have 2 mods 2ego's 3 pass trus, 6 protanks a iclear30s plenty of coils batteries and chargers and 32 bottles of juice. My spending from this point forward will be budgeted to $15 max per week . If there is something I want that costs more I will save for it. 3 months from now I will still be ahead $360 over smoking.

I went through alot of stuff and spent way too much money to finally find my happy place with mods/rebuildables.

Reo grand is a big upfront investment but I will have it for years. A couple of bottom feeding RDAs. Done. Now I am in maintenance mode. Wire, Rolled cotton, DIY juice and the occasional 18650 battery. I don't need anything else anymore.

TOnight I have been rocking a 2.5 ohm microcoil with rolled cotton wick in a $5 M6 RDA from Fasttech on my REO. CLouds of vapor and amazing flavor.
