Hey all,

I never even thought about this, but is it possible that the TH for common ejuice is much stronger than analogs? I didn't have a problem when switching from snus to vaping (I wasn't even smoking when I started), but I've had two smoker friends choke when trying it for the first time.

The first time it happened was two weeks ago. My friend smokes camel lights. I handed him my vapor king battery and a regular cool-cart from v4l filled with WOW 555, and he was hacking pretty badly.

It happened again today with another friend. Had a regular Boge carto on my Buzz Pro filled with Boba's Bounty. She smokes regular camels, but after about half a second of tugging on my setup, she was about to choke up a lung.

I don't even think these are my strongest TH juices. What do you all think?

Tacoma Wa,
I know I vape in a different way than I smoked.
The drags are way way longer and at first it did feel stronger than cigarettes at first.. now I breath the smoke in faster than when i first started vaping.

My wife tried it while i was sleeping one night and said she thought she was gonna die after one small drag. she said she choked a few times.

I've had the same experience when I let some of my friends try it. One of them got a hang of it after a little bit but, most don't. I think it's the way they take the pull that leads them to choke up a lung. It personally hasn't happened to me since I've always smoked the same way. In which I smoke it like it's a cigar (holding the smoke in the mouth) and then inhaling it.

I agree that it was like learning to ride a bike all over again. Different way of inhaling for sure. And I wanted to get ride of the oppressive TH/ lung hit. I am asthmatic so I guess th and /lung hit are psychologically and physically different to me. They make me feel like I can't breath. So I want the least amount of TH. I do think its WAY more then a cig for sure.

I am thinking that for a lot of folks a big TH is a great way to distract/ trick our brain into thinking you are still smoking. So that they don't miss the chemicals.

Every time a friend tries any of my PVs for the first time they get the same look on their face . . . that "wow, that was harsh" look. I was the same way after the first few puffs too. You get used to it fairly quickly though. I also had that "too much throat hit" reaction after trying 6v for the first time, but now I can't see myself EVER going back to anything less. It just takes a bit getting used to.

If I was to try and replicate the amount of vapor I normally get with an analog, I'd be coughing like crazy.

My smoker friends that have tried it cough also. I even cough sometimes. Right now I think it is dehydrated, for lack of a better word, lungs or because the vapor is moist vs dry and the lungs need to adjust. I cough in the morning(house really cool at night) or if i've been in the drier air this time of the year.

I've even weased from chain vaping just like chain smoking.

I can tell you my experience: I was driving back from a vacation in Oregon and decided to try inhaling directly from the ecig into my lungs, after having vaped regularly for about a week. I had a Titan 510 with the little battery, a week-old 2.4 ohm atty with a stock cart, and 18mg Tennessee Cured juice...

...I coughed so hard and so long I thought I was going to pass out! Probably should have pulled over and stopped, but I wiped my eyes and kept going. Had a sore throat for several days, probably from coughing the lining inside-out. I mouth-inhaled cigar and pipe smoke regularly back in the day but never had an experience like that.

A friend at work tried my Buzz once and coughed his head off, which seemed strange since he smoked cheap non-filter cigarettes and direct-inhaled those. I tried one of his cigs and thought it was as harsh as a stale Camel.

One of my coworkers has been hassled by the medical staff at work to switch to vaping, but he always said he smoked Camel unfiltered and couldn't see a wimpy little e-cig matching that. Finally I let him have a hit from my ProVari. Standard 3.0 ohm Boge carto, 4.2 volts, 18mg juice and a pleasant Ms T flavor - I think it was Banana Nut Bread. He just about coughed up a lung. He hasn't said anything about wimpy little e-cigs since then. He also hasn't switched to vaping, but I don't think he ever will. He's too committed to smoking.

Yes and Yes .. I find nicotine juice to be much harsher to my throat than anything I ever experienced with an analog, and I haven;t tried any nic juice stronger than 12 mg ... so my experience at first confused me. I thought I had a bad bottle of juice, but then the more I read other vapers descriptions re: throat hit and nic juice, the more I realized that the harsh cough inducing sensation was basically what a " nic throat hit" is supposed to feel like?? Some even call it "throat kick" ... I guess I am really abnormal .

For me a throat hit is the degree to which I feel in the "fullness" of vapor at the back of my throat as I inhale ... not the degree to which I feel a peppery, cough inducing burn in my throat. Like your friends, I still smoke about 4 to 6 analogs a day, and I have done side by side comparisons between an analog and my no nic juice, as well as an analog and the 12mg nic juice and of course there are differences in what each "taste like", but I found no difference in how analog and no nic juice each "felt" to my throat however, the difference between analog and nic juice was huge, and confusing to me... so I prefer no nic.

When I started vaping full-time, no analogs whatsoever (13 days ago) it took me maybe 5 days or so before I stopped gagging and coughing. I had to re-learn. When I hand off my 510 to a friend to try the first thing I tell them is pull smoke into your mouth then inhale. I still cough and gag if I straight inhale like i did an analog.
