ThunderHeadCreations Artemis 2 RDTA // Review by HyDrOpOnIc1987
Hello and welcome! Today I want to show you the Artemis 2 RDTA by Thunderhead Creations (THC) which was sent to me by Sourcemore for the purpose of this review. At the end of this review, I will provide a link to this item as well as a code to get this at a discount. Who doesn't like a discount! But first, I would like to tell you a bit about myself and why I want to do these reviews. I mean, apart from trying cool new vape gear!
I started vaping about a year and a half ago, and about 6 months in I got my first rebuildable. I don't want to mention what it was, as it's not by the same manufacturer as this review is about, but will say it was a single coil RTA. Ever since that first RTA, I've been thrust further and further down the rabbit hole that is Rebuildable Atomizers. I feel that because I am not a pro when it comes to these, I may be able to shed some of the intimidation factor for other novices like myself. That is my hope at least. Anyway, I'll stop wasting your time and get on with the review!

Initial thoughts and unboxing
The box is very nice and striking. It has a ton of branding of all sorts on the box. The front has a viewing window that displays the atomizer. Under the window is a little sticker that says which version it is. Mine is the RDTA. This atomizer was made in collaboration with TNYVPS, and as such is mentioned 6 times on the box. Also there is a Scratch&Check QR code to verify authenticity. And to the right of the Tony Vapes YouTube advertisement is a sticker that shows what colour atomizer is included in the box.

Inside the box is the atomizer, a spare glass. Under that in a separate compartment is the warranty card, the manual, a baggie full of spares (bunch of o-rings, BF Pin, 1 small spring, 1 larger spring, 2 different screws, another baggie with 2 coils but no cotton, a ceramic plate, a hex key, and a small QA card that assures you someone has verified the contents) and a coil tool.

Building and Usage
Firstly, I would like to mention that the first thing everyone should do when getting a new atomizer is fully disassembling it and washing everything down. The last thing you want to vape is machine oil or metal fragments!
That said, looking at this atomizer for the first time, it hits me how beautiful it is. I love the 810 drip tip that they included. Then I noticed the big honeycomb airflow on either side of the RDTA. The machining on and inside this RDTA is fantastic! And from what I saw in mine, there weren't any metal fragments or burrs anywhere to be found. I wont be including pictures of it in full until the end as I needed to save space.
The deck is spacious and postless. It is controlled by one screw that opens and closes one side at a time. Very easy to build on. Under the deck is the tank. It holds 4.5ml of liquid. As mentioned, it comes with a BF pin in the spares baggie. I immediately put it in with the included hex key. Very smooth threading on every part of this RDTA.
I used the included 4 Core Fused Claptons that came in the package. As it did not come with cotton, I used my own BP Mods 3mm Pro Vape Cotton. I cut the legs of the coil to the suggested 8mm and had decent results. I will play around with this more in future builds. I placed one coil in and then slowly closed down the clamp until it was fastened to the coil, but the other coil's slots were still wide open. Then I put the other in, fastened it down and bent the coils into position towards the honeycomb airflow when the top is on. I dry fire and strum the coils with my ceramic tweezers to get rid of any hot spots. Next I twist one end on a chunk of cotton so that it fits into the coil easier, put it in and twist with the other hand while pulling through. It keeps the cotton tight against the coil, but allows it to move easier.

After everything is in place, I lather the cotton and coils with my preferred eliquid, replace the top cap, adjust the airflow to ¾ open and try the thing! And does it ever chuck clouds! I shouldn't have been surprised, but still was as I don't have any real experience with these RDTA's. Then again, it's meant to be used at high wattages, so clouds a plenty.
Flavour is very good as well. The cotton keeps saturated very well. I really like this RDTA! The first few toots though were very overwhelming as I'm not used to vaping at wattages over 65.
I've been using this RDTA for about a week now, and it's definitely higher powered than I need. The vapor is very warm, but also very saturated and flavourful. I didn't experience and leaks while using the RDTA. I did, however, find that one of the o-rings that holds the tank portion in place falls out VERY easy. They gave a spare, but I can see myself losing that one as well. Be mindful of that when you clean your tank.
I love the size of this RDTA. Its big and bulky enough that it weighs down your mod. That could be a negative for some people, but I like the feeling of something substantial in my hand. There are some really good "feather-lite" mods out these days, but I will always prefer something more weighty.
I LOVE the drip tip that comes with the device! It fits snugly, but feels so smooth on the lips. Its the perfect width in my opinion. And, as a bonus, it has red in it! Have I mentioned that Red is my favourite colour? Lol
One thing I noticed is that the o-rings that allow you to turn the top cap to adjust the airflow, is VERY tight. I'm sure it will loosen up more with time as the o-rings compress and get beaten up more. Liquid on them didn't seem to loosen them up much.
I like the way the deck is setup. I didn't like postless decks at first as it was very hard to position the coil without bending it out of whack. But, as I got more used to them (and as I learned to use my coil jig to help keep the coil in position lol) I found them much better. Yes, to me it's easier to use posts as it allows me to grab onto something while building, but I feel most people would prefer the postless deck. It really is easy to use. I'm just fidgity and have anxiety issues so small little movements with my hands is a bit difficult. Shakey hands are a curse!
I totally recommend this to anyone who likes clouds. This RDTA is a cloud machine!
