Hi Guys,

This is my first post so sorry if this has been asked before.

Basically I am looking to purchase my first E-Cig and have narrowed it down to the 510 and the M401 (Mirage branded)

I'm leaning towards the 510 based on what I've read. Also what are totally wicked like to buy from (delivery time etc) as they have 20% discount on the 510 at the moment.

Your thoughts and opinions would be much appreciated!

Thanks :)

Watch the review videos. If you just read the forums you get a pretty biased view, the videos will show you the units and vapor. You will be alright with either one. I have the m401. One thing I noticed before buying was the amount of feedback on the units, the 510 has a million post about problems, while the m401 has very few. With that in mind and the video reviews, I went with the 401.

Chose a 510 for my first and I am not dissapointed in the device. As a new vaper, I don't really feel like I am "not getting enough vapor" to simulate smoking heck sometimes I damn near choke myself getting a wee bit overzealous with my first puffs after a fresh drip :p

(using Ecopure btw so I'm sure the VG has a big impact on how much vapor im seeing)...

Manual battery was a big selling point for me (and has not been hard to adjust to). I didn't want something that was going to go off whenever it wanted to.

Hmm is it possible to edit posts here? Anyhow forgot to make the disclaimer (though I did say I was new) I do not have any experience with the m401 and can't really compare the two. Nor can I attest to the longevity of the 510 parts. Just wanted to mainly say that I got what I expected after all of the research on which to buy and that pleased me.

That's my only complaint with the M401. The auto battery is nice, but there is a time and a place for it. With the auto battery, I'm not able to keep it in my pocket while working because it will turn on while moving around in in there. But, I hear TrueSmoker is going to have manual batteries soon. That will be a big step up for the M401.

Yes, but you have to make a few more posts before you will be allowed to do so.

I have an M402 SS Elite from Sharp smokers (same as M401, just shorter battery), and I LOVE it to death!!! It worked great to get me off Cigs! But as time goes on (been over a month already since started vaping) I started wanting a stronger throat hit, as my lungs healing by the day from all the tar crap left in there from analogs.

When you first start ecigs, it feels kinda harsh because of how bad of condition your lungs are in from smoking. My dad, a 35 year 2 pack a day smoker still has trouble taking a normal hit of my ecig due to him still smoking, just shows how bad his lungs are.

After a couple days you get used to it, your lungs start to heal, and after a couple of weeks the hits start to get lighter and lighter on your lungs, you do not get that awesome throat hit you where getting the first couple of weeks, it starts not to feel like a real cig after a while IMO.

The M402 is still doing me good but now I want a stronger throat hit, also I already lost a battery due to the e-liquid gumming it up because M401/M402/M403 the battery's are not sealed and if e-liquid gets in it it will kill your battery. I have another battery going bad because of this.

I do need to mention that I direct drip, meaning instead of me dripping the liquid into a cartridge, I drip it directly on the Atomizer. I would guess that 80% to 90% of e-smokers vape this way, you just get a more satisfying throat hit and more flavor, It's also better for the Atomizer IMO as it keeps it from burning itself dead, always keep your atty moist, that is the key to a long life. Also, the M401 has a cut-off time of about 5 seconds, meaning you can not take a longer drap then 5 sec. I Thought this would not matter for me as who in the world takes 5 second drags, but as time went on and I wanted a stronger throat hit, I found myself wanting to take a 10 second drag!!! and it would not allow me to do this.

The 510 has a manual battery that does not have a cut-off time, and the battery is also SEALED , so if you decide to direct drip no E-Liquid can kill it. The throat hit is excellent from what I have read, and the video reviews I have seen the vapor it awesome.

So, because of all this, I decided to order the 510 TECC TITAN the other day from "Totally Wicked". I bought 20 Atomizers, 10 batteries, a PCC (Personal charging case), a wall charger, and some blank carts, all for only $260!!! I am trying to have a stash for at least 2 years, so you obviously do not have to buy everything I bought.lol

Also, the 510 has alot more complaints because it is also talked about a million times more.

Here are 2 GREAT video reviews of the Tecc Titan, and the Marage you want... First is the Titan, second Mirage.

BTW, the guy who has done these reviews, said (wrote a couple of times already) out of the 50 or so ecigs he has reviewed (im guessing on that #, but he reviewed a TON!!!), the best ecig and his primary ecig is the TITAN 510.

Thanks for your help guys!

I decided on the 510 and ordered from Totally Wicked. Main reasons for this were the manual batterys, PCC and from what I've seen in the reviews good vapour/throat hit plus the 20% discount at Totally wicked ;)

I post back with my opinion after a couple days use.

Again thanks for your help.:)
You won't be disappointed!

WORDS OF CAUTION to those that carry 510 manual batteries!!

Yesterday I was in a company meeting and my 510 was in my pocket. Somehow the button was accidently pushed in and that this burned the shiznit out of my leg. Could be a very bad thing for male vaporers if in the wrong position :(

This could very easily burn up your atty as well... :(

I've got both, and I'm also relatively new to vaporizing.

Here's my input, take if for what it's worth:

M401
I bought this one first (well, second -- after someone gave me a smoking everywhere e-cigarette for my birthday and I loved the idea, but the thing just didn't work or produce any vapor.) I bought it because the youtube videos looked good, and it was small, and black, with a blue led, and it seemed handy and sneaky.

What I didn't know:
1. You will need some time to get the hang of it.

2. Because you will need some time to get the hang of it, it's unrealistic to expect that you might open the box, connect the battery, stick on a cart, and never smoke another cigarette again. Way too much pressure, and not very nice.

3. The cartridges are not equal to a pack of cigarettes. Not even 3 or 4 cigarettes. All in all cartridges are not a good way to go. Buying liquid, and refilling your carts is a great way to begin, and have enough juice on hand to figure things out.

4. These are electronic devices and they break.
You can blow an atomizer, kill a battery, or step on it and break it. Back up parts are really important.

Not knowing any of this, I bought a 401 and some juice and clogged it up, didn't charge the batteries correctly, blew an atomizer, and freaked out emotionally because I thought I was supposed to stop smoking tobacco. My throat got sore, my face got sore, I was sucking and sucking as hard as I could on my little 401 carts, chewing up the ends, and trying to make it work like a cigarette. I had NO idea that the trick is to use less liquid than overflow, and to pull on it gently in order to fill your mouth with lovely vapor.

Once I got the hang of it:

Now that I have replaced the atomizer, and the carts I find the M401 really does produce a nice amount of vapor. It' not a monster but it's nice. I pull on the cart softly and feel the atomizer warming up between my lips, and can fill my mouth with a nice, very flavorful drag.

The battery life is fair, several hours (3-4) and charge time is quick (1-2 hours)

It is indeed small, covert, and easy to travel with.

The best thing about the M401 is that somehow it delivers a lot of lovely flavor. Far more than the 901 and the 510. I like the 401 as an after dinner smoke, or a late night conversation companion. I don't like to use it for long. The flavors are too strong, and my mouth feels puckered and coated, and over flavored.

510
I bought the 510 recently after breaking my 401 and trying the DSE 901. I started looking for something besides the 401 because I wanted more vapor. And bear in mind here that I've only had the 510 for three days now.

It produces a lot more vapor than the 401 or the 901. It's a vapor monster. what it lacks in flavor, it delivers in warm yummy vapor.

Already I can see that the down side is the short battery life. A couple fully charged batteries, out in the wild, and three or four times already (in three days) I've found myself in a bit of a pinch because both batteries were dead, and I was far from home.

Ways around this:
Buy a charging case. Totally wicked sell one, lots of people sell them. They charge up your batteries while you're on the go. I love this and am looking into buying one as soon as I find one without a logo on it. I want plain black or plain metal.

Buy longer batteries. I have already ordered two of the mega batteries from Totally Wicked. They claim double the battery life... even if it's just another hour I'd be very happy.

Thoughts:
I think that it's pretty natural to explore, and to wonder, and to try a few different things before you find the perfect device for you.

I know that my thoughts and experience may be completely different from yours or anyone else. So no one can really tell you "Dude, the 401 is perfect, get that!" without knowing you really well. Smoking is a really personal thing. And vaporizing is somehow even more personal, and also a very different thing to do (as similar as it is, there's a lot to learn.)

So go slow. Be willing to try. Don't think you have to find the ultimate unit and then stick with it, or go back to smoking if you don't like it.

I recommend:
If you want flavor, some vapor, and a stealthy little unit, then the 401 is for you.

If you want vapor, and I mean steam streaming from your lips... then the 510 is for you.

I have both. I'm keeping both. It's just what to do with all these 901 batteries, atomizers, chargers, and boxes that I've gotta figure out now.

Hope anything I said helped you.

Congrats on your purchase. I can't say enough good things about my 510, it's a great little device. I hope you're as happy with yours as I am with mine!

Nice post vapourhead;

I agree with what you're saying.
1.) There is a learning curve.
2.) Expect some user error while learning.
3.) Technique is important.
4.) Don't get discouraged with the first few tries.
