Sadly I am no spring chicken either!! I do like this vaping lark though and maybe it will help me hang around a bit longer than if I had stayed on the unmentionables!!

Well I'll tell ya Steve my cardiologist thinks it will keep me around longer. The only comment he had about the Nicotine component was not to over do it. I told him I use it like the Nic gum and he didn't have any problem with that at all. Just to drag this story out a bit they gave me some stress test a couple of years back and kept me in the hospital overnight. The nurse asked me if I smoked and at the time I was and told her yuppers. So she said that the doctor had given the OK to give me nicotine patches but to shoot me if they saw me smoking. (not really but pretty close to shooting).

I mean growing up in the sense of knowing what really matters. One should spend his limited time flying the heck out those machines instead spending countless nights building and spending money in 24k crimps unless one realizes he enjoys building more than flying.

I actually liked both but some of my builds where clearly overkill and in the end a waste of time.

No time spent doing quality craftsmanship is wasted time especially if it has anything at all to do with your vocation. :thumb:

feeling guity about not trying the sleeper yet but i threw this together today..
FullSizeRender.jpg

30g zivipf.de Ti - quad-twisted around 2.5mm. The final diameter is a little larger because this wire is pretty springy as Tony said, and 4x as springy in this case lol!!

Anyway it came out about 0.12 ohms and i stuffed it into a manta clone which is one of the two 2-post drippers i have at the moment and my magma is otherwis eengaged with a twisted Ni build!!

Firing it at 280F and about 20w on my kangxin VF clone. Tasty vape!!!!

Quad twisted? Wow. That thing must have a serious warm-up time no? :)

Looks great though. I have to try some twisted 28 Awg next time :)

ramp time wasnt so bad whci is pretty suprising but there you go!! To be honest, quad and triple twists are a pita oarticulalry doing it by the cup handle method. Its really difficult to get a smooth wind - much harder than duals. £0g would be better but i wanted to get a lowish resistance but still have more than 2 wraps lol!!

Not sure if it was this thread or a other one? I ordered some Ti wire from the ring Lord and it came wrapped on used shipping box cardboard, wrapped in saran wrap. Very unprofessional.

that's the way it comes from ringlord i already posted this, and there is absolutely nothing wrong w/it especially when you consider the price plus it is grade#1, 99.7 pure if you ordered the 30 or 32 ga.....been using it and it's just fine..if you want it on a spool you can pay alot more for it.....now wrap your coils and vape-it :vapor:

Yeah I got the 30g and 32g. I was just shocked to see the shipping label on one of my "spools". It was so obvious it wasn't even new cardboard, it was an old shipping box they received and re-purposed. So I think 50ft of each gauge cost like $5 to $6... I thought I saw Ti wire grade 1 from somewhere 100ft for $15? (I think?).... That might come on a old paper towel tube? I don't know. But I'd like to think it came on a plastic spool.

But your right... Heck I'm vaping on the 30g right now, 5 wraps on 3mm at 0.50ohms, 330f 30w in my Taifun GT II. Life is good. ;)

I'm extremely frustrated with nickel and temp control. The temp of the vape changes with the wind. It's ridiculous.

The Ti wire temp Coils are more stable I think, but I'm getting so frustrated I may end up back to kanthal before it's over.

My builds went from 3 minutes on kanthal to 30 minutes of checking rechecking and triple checking. Then still unsatisfied with the quality of the vape. :(

try what i do and twist 2 strands of 30 ga Ti in your drill chuck pretty tight, i do 7 wraps on a 3/32 bit and squeeze the coil together as tight as you can get it without touching & it usually comes out around .28.....and you can crank it down in your RDA posts without snapping; wick it w/rayon and set the temp at 370f....darn good vape imo...give-er a try.......Ni is tricky indeed but once you get some practice under your belt it gets a bit better but still iffy, but you cannot get the higher resistances you get w/Ti which i feel gives a better vape...just my :2c:

I'll try it today... The 30g Ti wire is for sure better than the nickel. The nickel vape temp. (actual vapor being produced) is all over the tempature charts... It's set at 550f but it's way cooler! The Ti wire is warmer at 380f.

i could be wrong here but my opinion is that T.C. works better with Ti, the deal is tuning it in for your own taste; for me the sweet spot is 370f w/Rayon it's prob diff for cotton.....it's recommended to go between 80 to 100 degrees less than you would with Ni and the recommended setting for Ni200 is 450f....

my diy jooze is at least 60% vg.

ok i believe that, but i hate cotton cause it turns into mush after a day or 2 the way i vape & rayon lasts at least a good week, plus the rayon tastes better to me and i have a ten year supply; one of those giant boxes i bought at Sally hehe....and that was a trip going in that place...it's something i only want to have to do once in my life if ya know what i mean

edit: i'm still diggin the Ti and the flavor of the vape plus the higher resistance, perfect for my taste. :vapor:
