Andria if you love the Achilles can i suggest the MiniDrip by Chels Mini-ecig. I have both and like them equally. The Minidrip in only $35 for an authentic RDA made from 316ss and has option tank configuration with clear window to see your juice.
It's a titanium wire they sell that isn't pure titanium. They call it titanium ready or something. It reads half the resistance of kanthal and has a very stable TCR which is immediately a hint there isn't that much titanium in there. It doesn't work in TC mode all, doesn't form any TiO2 and can be torched to death.I'm not aware of the mystery Ti fiasco but i don't follow their thread that often. I just recently purchased a Tile V2 (my first GG anything) and went back for the matching drip tip so decided to throw some wire in my order since i was paying the shipping anyway. Oh well, i guess i'll see how it is when it arrives.
Huh...well...he says they are starting with Grade 2 which is the higher oxygen, more brittle, lower quality commercially pure titanium and..... he implies it's better than Grade I??Well in my search for Ti wire I emailed Sweet Spot to see why their product is $30 for 50'. Here is a copy of their letter and see what you think. I've already ordered some Unkamen but this stuff sounds interesting. Here it is.
Hi Pat,
The production conforms to ASTM F67. Our test methodology conforms to ISO5832. Our billets start life as certified gr2 medical grade Ti, and then move into our proprietary vacuum annealing process, to remove o2 impurities in the material substrate. I would like to think we are producing the ONLY vape specific Ti on earth, and are sourcing the purest raw Ti possible. We also ultra sonic/stem clean ALL wire in our own facility. ALL re-spooling, cleaning, packing and QC is done in our facility in California.
Our trace elements are below 0.3%.....and our o2 content is below that of GR1 Ti. Gr1 Ti is not ideal, because it lacks other critical trace H, N and C (hydrogen, nitrogen and carbon) as well as Fe (iron) to properly insulate against premature oxidation. Our total iron content is 0.08%....low enough to avoid iron oxide, but high enough to be durable enough for use on a mech.
Hope that answers some questions.
P.S. our wire finish is shiny/clean….but not polished….we avoid polishing as we don’t want the heat from polishing to infuse any surface contamination. On the issue of cost our wire is actually lower in price (per foot) than the industrial Gr1 Ti sold on amazon…..the amazon wire is uncleaned and wholly inadequate for vaping. Spider Silk is just regular off the shelf gr1 Ti. You will also notice quite a few benefits over Ni wire. Number one no NiO2, cleaner taste (no taste actually) greater durability etc etc….

I know I've talked to you before on another thread not sure which one. You are like me with trying to make my mind up about Ti wire. As far as TC After I got an SXmini Sclass I couldn't wait for them to come out with the M. Now I have 3 and it is by far for me the best move I ever made. I love it. I am the same way with the Kanger STM. Now all I use is SX and Kanger found my sweet spot. TC at first was driving me crazy with the rDNA 40 but once the SX came out I changed everything to nickel. I have one Kanger on my Sclass on my night stand with Kanthal but everything else is nickel all 9 Kangers. Sold all my authentic Kayfuns 3 KFL 1 K4 my Provari P3 VS rDNA40 I have 3 Provaris left 1 is brand new V2.5. TC takes a little getting used to but once you do you'll wonder why you didn't try it sooner. I have only put my SX's in Power mode once each just to make sure they work. I absolutely love nickel but got a little tired of recoiling every couple of weeks but now Ti comes along and it sounds like the answer to that problem. Believe my once you get TC down, and you could try it with nickel at first, you'll never go back. I've been tempted but I have one and that is plenty. I am just hoping that SX gets this Ti firmware down as good as they have nickel.
Hiya Andria, I read somewhere that vaping is 10x worse than smoking.I'll never use nickel; I read someplace that it can cause nausea
Not a bad price, but it's steel, so surely as heavy as a Kayfun. The Achilles (even the clone) is all-titanium, so it's VERY light, and only costs $25 -- so I think I'll stick with it.The Mini-Drip does have the option, but it's not included, you'd have to buy it separately -- from them. I'm hoping that if the Achilles really catches on, a one-piece plastic tank might become available, from a 3rd-party.
I'm even considering trying a Kayfun M-tank; it would need to be dedicated to the Achilles, since the threads are very close but not exact, but with the o-rings backing up the threads, I don't think it would leak.
Andria
True, the Achilles is much lighter than anything else i have. I'm sure one of the many clear tanks/bell caps will fit on the Achilles...just will take some trial error to find the right one.

Took them 9 months to release partial specs which don't identify completely the wire anyway.

Sent from my keyboard through my phone or something like that.
Are you referring to the Titanium ready wires (and now spools) Esmokeguru sells? I know those are not pure titanium but a hybrid used on non-TC mods. The wire i purchased from the GG-store, not ESG, is listed as Titanium Grade 1.
Huh...well...he says they are starting with Grade 2 which is the higher oxygen, more brittle, lower quality commercially pure titanium and..... he implies it's better than Grade I??
One cannot remove oxygen from titanium by vacuum heat treatment. Metallurgical hocus pocus not consistent with fact. If they had high hydrogen then it would be possible to lower the H content by vacuum heatreatment not oxygen.
FYI titanium is used as a getter in ultra high vacuum systems to grab on to oxygen atoms and hold them. Titanium does not lose oxygen content ever in ultra high vacuum, no matter how "proprietary" the process.
This sounds like the perfect example of the thing I mentioned earlier.....a vendor who has proprietary black magic intended to invade the wallets of unsuspecting but fervent vapers.
Honor among thieves? IMO Nah...don't think so.
