well not sure if it shrinks but the coils pull together. It is from vape Mesh which has worked up till now I think I just heated it up too much. I am pretty sure their wire is good.
Hmmmm...

Don't know. It would be great if you had something to compare to but I have dry burned both zivipf's and stealthvape's and the coil doesn't change form ever.

Just checked a few articles and it seems that like most materials, both Ti and ni expand with heat. Ni expands more than Ti so if that's really a heating side effect, you should be able to replicate it with a ni coil.

I still find it odd :/

Wait! I have a theory!

How do you tighten down the coil in your atty? Clockwise or counter clockwise? On which atty did you experience this?

For example, on a erlkonigin, when you tighten down the coil clockwise, the coil is under expanding tension, it's being pulled apart. So in theory, as you dry burn it, it becomes softer and the energy that is holding the wraps is lost and the wraps go more apart.

In case of a counterclockwise method of holding down the coil, the effect is opposite as there is tension inward the coil. Once heated, the wraps will want to come together... This would explain what you're seeing.

My stealthvape Ti seems to be great. It's softer (much!) than zivipf but the most important for me is that it's clean and shiny... I like shiny :D

I don't need to anneal this one to make a nice coil which is a plus.

Yeah, join the club... I have a bag full of spools... Kanthal, ni 200, silver, Ti, etc

The stealthvape Ti is half hard ie it not in the softest possible state but soft enough to wind with the wire barely wanting to go back on the mandrel. If you have zivipf's you know what happens when you let go the wire on a mandrel [emoji14]

to be honest, if it works well, then I will probs just use 26g for everything and 10m will last a very long time, even with a dozen atty's to feed..!!

I've been using 26g but will try 24g on my next erlp rebuild.

ive got some 24g stuff like the unkamen jewellery wire which is nice and soft and really easy to work. I'll need the 26g for my GEM which has a really small build deck - 24 is just too big to get a decent spaced build in there!!
