OK, so I am fairly new still to all the vaping stuff. But What I see is negative connotation in the words, flavor junkie. And then I hear people straight up bashing cloud chasers.
First it got me thinking, u gotta be one or the other right? I mean.... I love flavor.... but I also love chucking out giant clouds. Why the negativity?
I mean... so I like flavor...so What? Or so I love giant clouds... who cares. It's like there is a huge no no mentality with the cloud chasers.... but then there is like a phrase like flavor junkie....makes the person sound like an addict

What is it, do the cloud chasers hate the flavor junkies? And do the flavor junkies hate the chasers?

Lastly.... just for fun, What do you prefer, clouds, or flavor?

You're reading way too much into it.. it's just different strokes for different folks. Some are happy to vape and stay off the stinkies. For others it's a hobby, obsession, way of life even. Some want to push the most out of their hardware, much like car enthusiasts. Some of them want the best looking ride, some want the loudest, some want the fastest. And some want all above. For others, it's just a convenient way to get from A to B, no more.

Lastly.... just for fun, What do you prefer, clouds, or flavor?

Flavor chaser isn't negative in any real way.

Cloud chasers has become fairly negative because of the methods some people use to get those huge clouds, which are considered fairly unsafe. Many of them will argue that it is perfectly safe because they know what they are doing, but let's be fair... Aiming a gun at your face is dangerous, even if you do know the safety is on.

That having been said... As long as they know what they are doing, great! But there are many of them who are following youtube vids/ etc... without the appropriate knowledge to even attempt safety.

I have been chasing flavour since day one of vaping, which is what led me to the reo. So that's my stand point. But to be clear. No one is against cloud chasing. It's just a few bad apples that have given the negative connotation to the term. If you want to chase clouds, chase clouds. If you want to chase flavour, chase flavour. Just be safe about it.

Flavor junkies is kind of a tongue in cheek jab at the people who scream that cloud chasers are ruining vaping. Most so-called cloud chasers don't have anything negative to say about non cloud chasers and just don't like feeling persecuted and talked down to by people who happen to prefer a different vape to them.

I think the issue with cloud chasers is when they start blowing clouds at inappropriate times.... In a restaurant, shopping mall, etc. If you want to do this outside or in your on home that's fine. There is a time and place for everything. And as for the "bashing" you mention, I think that's really the members telling other member to be careful and do this in a safe manner. You read some of the threads on here like "what is the best set-up to blow clouds".... then you find out they don't even know basic ohms law.... I dunno... Jus sayin....

Hey....Yea... I agreement that cloud chasing needs to be safe.... but Come on, just because someone doesn't know the ohms law doesn't mean he should be persecuted. I mean.... I kinda have an idea of ohms law now.... but when I started a month ago even... had no idea. I just now have an ohms meter on It's way.
I just think... the whole cloud chasers
Which brings in another point
There also seems to be some kind of a similar persecution of sub ohmers now. I happily vape at around 0. 5-3 and it seems There's negative connotation with that to.
Is it just Cuz everyone is on edge about these pending regulations?

The problem with subohming(which is intrinsically tied into cloud chasing) is that many are doing it without following any form of safety protocol. Seriously, you should see some of the bonkers questions asked in the New Members subforum or the Ask the Vets subforum.

1. Without one you can not tell me that your build is 0.5 ohms(just an example, not specific to you). The online calculators are garbage for real world use. They just get you in the ball park. Also, most multimeters are not that accurate. Many of them have a +/- 0.2 ohm window. Above 1 ohm it's really a non-issue, but when you get down to 0.3 ohms or lower, then that window could be the difference between clouds and shrapnel.

2. Many sub-ohmers are not using proper batteries. It's not a huge issue here on the ECF, but outside our little bubble there are people watching youtube videos, and copying them with whatever cheap battery they have on hand.

Those are the major points I can think of off hand. For those that know what to/not to do, sub-ohmming is probably the greatest thing ever to them, and that's perfectly okay, but safety needs to be stressed above all else. Right now, while many are trying to argue the safety point, there are just as many sub-ohmers arguing that the safety stuff is ridiculousness.

Personally, I don't think you should be building anything, sub ohm or not, without an ohm meter.

Okay.

That is a problem. If you have a problem with somebody pointing out to you that that is a problem, that is a problem.

Forgetting Ohm's law. Any idea of your battery situation?

I just now have an ohms meter on It's way.

That is good.

How do you know it's around .5Ω - .3Ω? You have implied that you have no method of checking resistance, but have one on it's way. You see the problem here?

Is it just Cuz everyone is on edge about these pending regulations?

Not entirely. I think it is mostly about being genuinely concerned for yours and others safety, and people for some reason are getting butthurt and taking offense to it.

That, or what someone eluded to earlier: Blowing clouds in the middle of a restaurant is a ......... thing to do. Don't be shocked if you are going to get criticism for it.

I don't think the vast majority of ECF has anything against cloud chasing. But sometimes a Spade is a Spade, you dig?

I do both with different setups. I use my provari and kayfun for flavor and a regulated box mod for cloud chasing. I use an ohms meter and have very safe batteries. I stay around .6 which is low enough for me and use vtc4 and 5s which i check regularly. Cloud chasing is more for at home thing for me while my provari is for out and about and work. I say to each their own, you want to enjoy your vape whatever way you want.

Sorry... OK... I had an ohms meter before, my MVP. It's been being a bit wonky lately. And now it frequently reads that Im vaping 0.0 builds anytime u go below 1 ohm. But I check with a friend each build who has tons more experience, usually sticking to the same couple builds that work for me. Anytime my mod gets a little warm...it gets a rest. And Im using Efest 35amp 2600 mah batteries (but 2 vtc5 here tomorrow )
Im fairly safe about it.... like... Im getting the ohms meter in a week . Anyways. Same couple builds... not trying anything new until I have the meter.

What I meant. By the issue of not knowing ohms law is that we should be teaching them....
Not persecution them..
I was pointing out that not everyone has an idea of these things right off the bat.

As for the vaping in restaurant, different world's man. I Come from a place where It's still acceptable to Smoke in most restaurants.

I've said it before... Vaping in a restaurant/movie theatre/whatever is just fine, if it's at an acceptable level, but if someone pulls out their cloud chasing gear and starts fogging up the place while I'm trying to enjoy my meal/movie/whatever, they will be getting their PV surgically removed from their rectum. There should be a level of respect involved. Save the cloud making for open air/home.

As for teaching... at least on this forum, that IS the general go-to for the most part, but... as I was saying about the ridiculous questions that get asked, many times they genuinely just don't want to learn, and that's dangerous to themselves and the vaping community.

For future reference, those Efest 35 amp 2500mah batteries are only 20 amp continuous. Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised

These threads are becoming prolific but all valid points have already been hashed out. The vast majority who are concerned about sub ohm stuff are mostly concerned because of impending regulations. Regulators and those in favor of regulations are looking for and will use anything to help their cause. It's been quite elusive for years and I hope it stays that way but everything is in the spotlight right now.

Our government loves to protect us from ourselves and this always comes at the expense of our freedom and choices. Right now vaping incidents are relatively few and far between considering the # of users. If there is an increase in injuries and accidents over the next year then it will surely be used against the entire industry. The more people who use unregulated equipment = more chances of accidents. It's hard to dispute that.

Another concern I have is that high powered/sub ohm gear emits much more volume of vapor than other gear. Ripe for analysis (slanted or honest) and then used against us if the findings fit the agenda. The combination of the increasing trend of pushing the limits happening at the same time we are under the microscope has me worried. It should have all of us worried. It's bad timing.

There are plenty of experienced and knowledgeable folks who exercise excellent safety. And they take offense at threads about clouds (rightly so) but unfortunately we live in a world where innocent people pay for the mistakes of the reckless. The crossroads the industry is in right now magnifies the potential outcome.

I love getting the best flavor out of my RDA builds. If it wasn't for the flavor, I'd probably still be sucking on the nails, so to speak.

With regard to clouds, mid last year, I was fascinated by the huge plumes of vapor some people were able to produce. Did my due diligence and started vaping with mechs using sub ohm builds. Up until that point, I had always used my Provari or mechs with a Kick module.

I bought an inexpensive 30 watt device some 6 months ago. That totally changed my view on my sub ohm mech builds. I recently purchased a Vapor Shark rDNA and that pretty much ended my sub ohm mech vaping. I can use single 1.5 ohm builds and produce quite satisfying plumes of vapor . . . Huge plumes.

Now, I still toy with sub ohm mech builds. However, my builds are in the neighborhood of 0.6 to 0.8 ohms.

ETA: Blowing large clouds in public is counter productive to the Vaping cause. It does not help us in the big picture. All it does is fuel the Antis.

As I have mentioned in the past, I have always vaped as if I were smoking. I respect non smokers and their space. It's important for all Vapers to create a positive public image. That's one critical component for vaping to survive.

i'm one of those people who has done their research, and is trying to be as safe as possible. and threads like this, with people saying you don't need to subohm, makes the whole "no cursing" rule a hard one to follow haha. i build pretty low, but i always check it on the meter and my box mod first to make sure it's not shorting. i know that 0.1 is essentially a hard short (i don't build that low). what i'm saying is, i'm safe about it. so as you said, i'm sitting here, aggravated with the world haha.
