Behind you!
DIY is easier than it looks and the rewards are far greater than you can imagine when you find something that works!
Just be safe with the nicotine (proper precautions) and have fun experimenting! Good to note that DIY will be expensive in the beginning for initial materials, so like someone said above, start slow. Build up a flavor collection. Ultimately, you will probably save money and have fun doing it :) Good luck and keep us posted on the great recipes!

I certainly have enough vendor-made juice to last me for a while. The ones I just got in are missing from this pic but right now I have about 30+ 10ml bottles of various flavors. Could I start mixing some of my pre-made mixes??? Especially the ones I do not like; maybe I can get them to taste better by mixing them with other flavors. Im a pastry chef and a fusion-cuisine chef as a hobby. I win a lot of competitions so I have a very advanced palette for flavor. Id love to come up with some fusion-style juice recipes that are completely different than most that I have seen out there.

Oh and another question: I vape 0mg nic but I would like my friends to try my recipes eventually. Does nicotine have a flavor?? I know adding it to the mix affects the ingredient ratio but does it affect the flavor much. I was thinking of perfecting my recipes in 0mg and then adding nic before I let friends sample them. Most of them are smokers and Im trying to switch them to vaping so we could be our own little community. There really isn't one so Im determined to make one, lol

Thanks for the great advice and help everyone!!! You guys are the best, as usual! The forum never disappoints me....:w00t:

I DIY at 80/20 PG/VG, 2mg of nic. Recently ordered from a great vendor, but went with 6mg nic. Boy, all I could taste was the nic flavor! So, yes, there is a difference, IMO.

Regarding post count, I think you just can't post new threads in new member section, but you can certainly still reply, so don't feel like you're getting the boot haha.

Regarding DIY, my buddy loves it, just like other members have replied. Myself, personally, not my thing. Makes me nervous haha. I just like ordering something and it showing up and being ready to go. Just my nature though.

Might have missed a link but where would I go to find the supplies to make diy juice?
wizard labs or mtbaker are 2 of the good ones to order DIY juice.
Diyflavorshack is where I got my starter kit from, came with everything you'd need to get started and then some.

Lol don't do it. DIY is more addictive than searching pvs :p

I use the KISS method for the most part anymore. It's kinda nice that you can make DiY as simple or as complicated as you want to.

The first thing I figured out is that most of the "flavorings" that you can buy from vendors are a rip off. (note that I said MOST, not ALL)
All a lot of the vendors do is dump a $2 bottle of flavoring into 15ml of PG, and then sell it for 7-10 bucks. I buy PG by the gallon ($20) .... don't need theirs.

I cut my 100mg nic base when I get it into 400ml 10mg 50/50 batches stored in amber pint Kerr canning jars. Most of the flavorings that I use require one drop/ml of 10mg base. Takes about 5 minutes to mix up a weeks supply of flavors. (think I've got about 6 months worth of flavors mixed up sitting in front of me)

Definitely DIY. It takes awhile to perfect a good juice just need a little patience. Start small and don't go out and buy 75 flavorings right off the bat like I did. A year later and I haven't used a lot of them. The rewards are worth it as are the savings.

lol.. I am all good then! I only ordered 45 to start.
I have a feeling this is going to get "very" bad..

The bigger problem you face is not the nic itself, but the volume of suspension liquid you will need to add to achieve a certain nic level.

If you have 10ml of 0mg nic juice that you're happy with, you would have to add 20ml (or 200%) of 54mg PG or VG to get to an 18mg juice. This would dilute the flavour and you would also throw the balance between PG and VG out unless you premix the nic base to take this into account.

However, if you use a high nic base (say 100mg) and shoot for a lower nic juice (say 12mg), the ratio of nic base required drops dramatically to 1.4ml (or 14%). Still enough to alter the flavour, but not so bad. The PG/VG ratio would similarly be less affected.

Some quality juice makers even alter their recipes for different nic levels to achieve a consistent flavour at each nic %.

It all depends on how accurate you want the remixed sample to be, but would work best with the high nic base to lower nic juice scenario.
Jay I'm not trying to be mean here but, if you mix 10ml at 0mg/ml of PG or VG with 20ml of PG or VG at a concentration of 54mg/ml nicotine you end up at 35.6 mg/ml of nicotine in a 30ml. 2/3rds of 54=0.66x54=35.6 35.6mg/ml of nicotine is WAY too strong. To get 18mg/ml you'd mix 20ml at 0mg/ml with 10ml of 54mg/ml base. I think you accidentally flipped your values around. In any case it's best to use a reliable e-juice calculator to get the values before you mix. Then always do a "sanity" check on the values of the calculator.

Amen to that 'don't buy' tons of flavorings!! But still, though I still consider myself a relative newcomer to the DIY scene, I wouldn't do a lot differently... The flavorings will all get used eventually and I find I hardly ever have to run out and get something else to complete a new recipe...

As has been said too -- don't look for the most complicated recipe you can find to start with... Start off simple -- a single base flavor with, perhaps, a couple of additives and a secondary complimentary flavor... And keep it simple for a while... Also, start off with small (10ml) batches - don't jump into a larger one just 'cuz you 'know' you'll like the flavor...

Too much math for me! hahaha I'll give the vendors my money :p
