Hello everyone =) Today i decided to join this awensome forum. Im a vaper for 1 year now, and im making my own juice =) but i have one only problem, im from Romania and here vaping stuff is hard to get ... i own two ego batteries a normal 1100 mah and a 2600 mah variable voltage. For a long time i use aspire bdc and bvc coils and last week my girlfrind bought me a present, a Helios clone. Since then i rebuilded on the clone and rebuilded and now im closer to get what i wanted =) i used all types of Kenthal and NiChrome and i seatled down making a single coil with 28 gauge kenthal and using japanese cotton. the build i mostly prefer is 1.6-1.7ohm, now my question comes when i do pulls longer than 3-4 second the vaper get that hot .... i only can do short pulls ... i tryed a higher resistance, but trought burns like hell ... i tryed a dual coil build my batteries dont suport ... idk what to do next. Just keep vaping with sort pulls ? The problem is not my juice is 100% VG homemade and is better than all the juiced that i bought. Oh and just a little thing left to say i did my build very good like Rip Trippers do them with no hot spots or anything i dont use to much cotton ... and stil on longer puls is to damn hot =) TY if u had the patience to read all this !

Hey mate, you have a beautiful country and that's a nice rda!

I want to make sure we are on the same page, so we can help you better: by hot, is it actually too warm, or is it more of a burn/dry/rough taste?

I have a hunch that you are doing everything just about right, and are just drying out your wicking. Have you tried using a bit more cotton, or a different technique for wicking? This is just a bunch, but if your coils are aligned for airflow, it really can be just the wicking.

Above all, don't be discouraged. :)

Since you're making you juice at max VG, it might just be too thick to wick well at high volume / long draws. Maybe a drop or three of distilled water to thin it a bit might help.

Might also be that you're using too little wick to draw it up well, or too thick and choking off the flow.

And, oddly enough, it might be too much air flow, so there's insufficient suction to pull the juice up...

Hi Ovi Ghejan and welcome to the forum!

WOOHOO! that's great that you've got it solved! building your own is a bit of a learning curve. If you ever have a coil/wick combination that is "just on the edge" (meaning that it ALMOST satisfies until the last tiny bit of draw), and don't want to re-wick just yet or aren't at a place where you can, you can just lower the power on your device just a bit. That will tide you over until you can re-wick.

Happy Vaping!

Thank you DavidOck i wasnt ussing enought =) now is all good and tasty =) just finish making a cherry mint mix and is awensome now with the extra wick

Glad you got it sorted out.

As mentioned, and especially with rebuildables, there's often a bit of a learning curve. Several things can affect the quality of the vape, and it's often just trial and error figuring out which. Even us "old hands", who've gone through it a few (uh, many?) times can only offer directions to go, things to try, since we don't have the mis-functioning item in sight. But we do try to narrow it down :)

And one basic principle for trouble-shooting - if possible, change just one thing at a time, so you'll know if that was it, or not :)
