I'm not a FNG to vaping, but I am fairly new to ECF. I'm starting this thread for a couple of reasons. 1. to get my post count up and 2. to get some good info from those who are experienced. I have been vaping for almost a year and completely analog free since 12/23/10. I have recently started mixing my own liquid. Some of them are good and some of them are utter ....!!! How long would you give a juice to steep before you dump it? Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Two great reasons to post. Welcome to ECF... or at least to posting on ECF.

1) say "thanks" and that's #2

2) I DIY ... sometimes just shake the heck out of it and let it sit for 1 hour. Sometimes more. Varies by recipe, sorry to say. Some swear it takes a week to a month for it to get real good. Warm water baths (cap on!) will speed the process a bit when combined with shaking.

It is defiantly trial and error I have tried setting my ry4 from hc in the fridge, shelf in a closet for 2 weeks, on the window sill, nothing really seems to work for me I make 6ml bottles and just make 2 or 3. I switch flavors when i drip so by the time i get back to it from sitting on my desk after a few days it seems to be a little more flavorful. All and all though I haven't had much luck with steeping.

So about this steeping business... this isn't a question about making your own liquids per-se, but people talk a lot about steeping but not exactly what they do to accomplish it. I've read shaking vigorously, dipping the bottle in warm water, and sitting on the shelf for a week (with or without cap?). Is there a best answer?

The best answer is to choose the method that will work best for you. I do make my own juice and I just let mine sit with the cap on for a few days or longer until I feel like they taste right. Everyone is going to be different as to when a juice is finished steeping. Some juices are ready for vaping immediately. No one here can tell you how long it will take or which juices will need it. Some people don't even bother with steeping.

I decided to steep my last order from Velvet Vapors and what a difference it made. Took the caps and drip tips off the bottles for 24 hours and then capped 'em up and left them in my nightstand drawer for about a week. They definitely got darker and the taste was better than ever (same flavors I used right out of the box before). It really was quite amazing how they became SO much better after just a week. this was 30ml bottles of the velvet blend of strawberry-kiwi and the HypnoticMyst.
