Seriously?!?!? Why G-A-S 'bout what others say?!?!? If 'their' comments don't affect my family, sex life, pay check or gas mileage, eff 'em. Don't let 'em raise your blood pressure. BTW, mine has drop to well within normal range since vaping.

Yes, why care. It's not like ignorance will result in bans, or vaping being restricted to smoking areas. Why G-A-S indeed.

Some people, especially non-smokers, just don't get the concept. My husband and I went to visit some friends recently. They don't smoke at all. Husband knew what e-cigs were because a co-worker of his has a Blu. Wife has never seen one. So, I break out the old ProVari, and I explained how they worked and that they were a lot safer than cigs. I was able to vape in their home, which was really cool. They liked the juice I had that day. People just need an explanation to understand what you are doing.

Another day, I was at a Chinese buffet. I ran into a guy with a Vamo hanging around his neck, with a big ol' RBA on top. My first sighting of another vaper in 6 months. We got to talking and he has recently run the Chicago marathon. It was really cool. I realized that hiding my ProVari may not be the best way to educate others. I have the lanyard but I don't use it often. And people cannot ask questions if they don't see it.

Things are not going to change unless we make an attempt to educate people about the wonderful world of e-cigs.

There are still some on this forum that don't understand the concept that you stated so well. Acting like vaping is the same as smoking or hiding it out of sight or being "afraid" of what others will think if they use a PV other than a cig-a-like in public, just feeds the perception that vaping is the same as smoking. Thanks for your post.

Actually, you will probably NEVER see me using an e-cig (cig-alike) because I'm a person who vapes as much as I used to smoke and it would take about 20 of 'em to get me through a day. Or 6 if I had 4 PCCs to charge them with!
My current battery is a USB charger at 6600 mah, and my backup is one at 8400 mah. This past week is the first I was not charging something (or a couple of them) every day.

When someone asks me why I vape, I tell them that it is a replacement for tobacco.

Of course some people are going to think that no matter what they are told. It does look like we are smoking. It's one of the things I like about vaping. It's one of the things that makes it work for me. I'm fooling myself, and it's working! Patches and gums didn't work for me. I wanted to see and taste my "smoke". I know I'm doing whats best for me. I know I'm not killing myself one cig at a time. And I'm happy. If your not happy for me, I didn't need you anyways.

Stubbornness is just so very annoying!!

I'm done worrying and wasting energy on getting upset with people and their opinions on vaping. Almost none of them knew about vaping before they saw me do it, so why am I going to get all bent out of shape when they have strong opinions about it when they didn't know it existed 10 minutes previously.

A couple of my co-workers frown at me, I just scowl back and enjoy the vape :vapor:

That is it for me exactly. I wanted the TH and the "smoke". I guess I had to fool my brain into thinking that I was still smoking. It seemed to have worked, though. 19 days and counting!

I do agree that we can't just be rude or secretive about vaping. I am a proud vaper but sometimes people just don't get it. You can explain the whole thing to them and the response is..."you're still smoking". Just like ScottP said...you can't fix stupid!

So what if they still think you're smoking? Personally, i was never embarrassed to be a smoker. I owned it. And now that i don't smoke cigarettes anymore, I'm notembarrassed to be a vaper. I own it. Who cares if anybody else still considers it to be smoking.

It's not that I was ever embarrassed that I smoked. I too was a proud smoker. Thought I had it all figured out. And the same goes for vaping. I am a proud vaper. I don't hide it and I am not afraid to explain the basics to anyone. The frustrating part is the people who just want to be closed minded. They act like they want to know more about what you are doing and they ask questions but in the same breath try and discount all the benefits of vaping by saying it is the same as smoking.

That's EXACTLY my point GraceH. It is the stubbornness that gets me. I agree with you 100%. I know what I am doing is the best alternative for me at this point in MY life. I love not smelling like an ashtray. I love the taste of the eliquid. I love that I can breath better and taste better. I just wish there were some way to fix stubborn/stupid people.

But ignorance DOES result in bans and laws and other stupid policies. I have seen several threads on ECF about people receiving letters from their employers about the negative effects of ecigs and banning their use except for in designated smoking areas. Why should us vapers have to subject ourselves to the second hand smoke that we gave up? No one tells someone they can only use their patch in smoking areas. I know that is silly but ignorance can lead to bigger issues. I guess that's why I personally G-A-S.

It is weird how some smokers have the 'fear.'

Was at a southern themed bar yesterday that has a non smoking policy and the owner was cool with me vaping my ego. He always has an unlit Romeo E Julietta cigar between his lips. I mentioned you could get cigars like my ego.

The speed and force with which he shot back 'yeah but they don't taste the same do they?' was kind of unusual. Like we had entered some twilight zone of conversation.

I agreed, they're are some cigar juices that come close but sure it's not going to be the same as a Romeo E Julietta (have smoked em in the past and they are some damned fine cigars) but you could at least puff on it if you wanted.

He said he wets and chews and sucks on the end of the unlit cigar and it's like chewing tobacco for him.

I just smiled and thought 'man hope he doesn't get mouth cancer' and left it at that.
