Tonight I proved to myself that I am still a complete newb

So here it goes, I've been experimenting with different nic levels and also decided to get some 100% vg juice as well as some 0% nic juice. Anyway, I'm out of atomizers so I decided to try to fill one of my boge LR carts with the 100% vg - well, I think I've been taught a lesson in patience -yeah yeah yeah.. I digress. I thought I had it filled correctly and vaped it within about 5-7 min after filling it adequately. ....hmmmn not so. I vaped this puppy at about 6 watts and it was the most acrid mouth punching putrid burning nasty smack in the olfactory that I've ever experienced vaping. Even compared to dry clearo hits.

Well, guess what? Since (as smart as I am) I put some more juice in it and let it sit for another ten min and took another 6-8 watt hit. Do I really have to admit to this? Was it really 100% vg? Nah, it must be the juices fault - I'm sure of it.

So, since I'm a complete failure at vaping 100% vg, what are good methods (besides an atty - which I dont have atm).


Another thing.. so I have this need to get a Phiniac tank BUT, I also need some carts and some atomizers. Why isn't it that people who make carto tanks for sale offer carts that I can buy to go with it (and atty's for good measure) - Why o why cant I find a one stop shop... meep meep - my .... hurts.

Now that I'm done complaining, I'll take the filler out of one of my carts and start atomizing. (how do get that nasty taste out of your mouth? -- or is that a twss?)

LOL, I know exactly how you feel. I did the exact same thing with my carto-tank...I watched all the vids on filling it via the condom method. I followed every step, blew it out, shook it, topped it off.

Put it in the tank, filled it up, and BAM! Gurgling, spitting, and massive leaking! Tried again, same thing...by this time, I'm ....... I'm a total loser. I just want to vape this amazing thing I just got, and I can't cuz I SUCK. AND I'm wasting this supposedly amazing juice that I haven't been able to try yet, and the smell is so strong that by the time I think I'll be ready, I'll be sick of the smell.

Get on ECF, PM someone, post a couple of times begging for help (got plenty!). Started over with a new carto and it floods again, but this time I put the carto on my spinner and vape off the excess. Now it's perfect. I think I've got it licked. Until I need to refill my tank and my carto's ready to be changed.

But I'm a pro now, right? Not so much. This time I didn't flood the tank, but I DID get the nasty dry hit...nothing gets rid of that flavor. NOTHING. Well, maybe bleach, but I'm not trying it. Again, new carto, try again, only slight flooding and no spitting so I vape through it and it's been good.

And here I thought $1 per carto was gonna save me so much money!

I've had the same experience with the two 100% VG juices I have tried. Now, I know that's a tiny sample size, and I may well be doing something wrong... but if I can't just fill and vape like I can with my 60/40 or 70/30 juice then I am hesitant to keep experimenting.

Thanks for pandering to my stupidity hahaha! I really like this part where you said " NOTHING" hahahahahahah. Oh well I do have a lot to learn. One of the thing's that is good and bad about the whole vaping thing is experimentation - it has it's ups and downs, but I'm really glad that I have not been smoking cigarettes and do not plan (even in the midst of many failures) to return.

I read your post and this thread with interest. I can not help you with your problem because my first kit is still in the mail to me. But I have read and watched videos and it looks so easy. I know I will be posting something very similar to you and this post next week. Please come back and tell me how to do it right, because you will have figured it out by then.

I vape 50/50 PG/VG which is a rather thick liquid in itself. I use carto tanks. I have yet to find a prepunched cartomizer that works adequately with 50/50 juice. So enter this old lady trying to punch extra holes in her cartos. Took me 5 tries. A crappy purchased carto punch. 2 trips to the hardware store for various plumbing valve punches and I have finally settled on what that works? Yep you got it the dremmel I bought 8 years ago and never even took out of the box

I've been trying to quote everyone who has replied however, I guess I have a lot to learn there as well. Anyway, BigEd - this is the first time I've tried 100% vg, I've had some symptoms and I need to figure it out before I post more on it. Thank you for your input!

@Myrany So, my 50/50 has never been an issue, but, 100% vg does not soak the wick! (pardon the lack of better adjective) I really love my atty's, but I need a better delivery mechanism

Don't feel bad. Same with me. Just a little over a couple of months into this. I have had nasty tasting e liquid to burnt/dry atty's. Gunked up atty's from sweeter, darker, thicker juices. replacing silica.Learning the difference w/ Ohms and their effect. Changing atty's. Learning to wrap my own coils on a protank and z atty pro. Discovering the difference between 100% vg and mix ratio juices. Their viscosity and effects on wicking with my tanks. Learning to roll a SS wick and so far, I've had 2 successful attempts out of about 7. Learning to let juices breathe as well as steep if needed. Especially the flowery tasting "fruity" ones.

When I first started, it was great but dealing with soar throats and dirty harsh hits and learning what causes them has been irritating. Not to mention, learning the z atty pro. It's like relearning stuff all over again and I think I'm getting better. I believe the most important part is making sure the wick is oxidized really well and how you roll and prepare it. Then just work out any hot spots. Mine didn't come with the insulator and the premade wicks that were given me were really thin and tight. I have found that I like smaller, longer drip tips because they don't get as hot. Oh yea, I almost forgot... the whole tilty deal... it's important.

So if it is tasting like crap... you either have premature/ bunk juice that needs to be breathed or steeped longer, a bad atty (burnt, shorted, gunked up), wick is not wicking well or voltage is set to high according to what ohm atty is being used.

And lets not forget the possibility of any chemicals that may be on any new tanks, atty's and bottles that came from the factory. Recommended to boil all new accessories before use to remove the possibility.

This is what I have experienced so far with vaping in just over 2 months.

One other thing, metallic taste. New coil that haven't been broken in yet and even the protank with it's metallic tip. I just slip one of the free silicone condoms over it and it works great...

With thicker juices a bottom coil clearomizer might work for you. Like an evod or a protank. Take out one of the extra flavor wicks. PBusardo has a video on you tube on the protank that shows you how to rebuild the heads for it. You will see what I mean about the extra wick even if you don't plan to rebuild.

Bottom coils are nice with thick juice because the wick and coil are AT the bottom. THe juice doesn't have to travel up those long wicks to the coil like on a top coil device. SO you don't have to tip and swirl all the time to force juice up there.

Might be worth a try.

I've tried that and yes it works but I don't tilt my protanks, just the z atty pro. I bought some AVE juice and tried them on the protank and leaned real quick it didn't work. I rinse the tank out first w/ hot water first before I fill the tank to thin it a bit. It has been working good for me. I have removed the flavor wicks but for me, I find it works better with the silicone ring off too.

Actually, I have a box full of BCC's. For me, I like a warmer hit, throat hit, and a lot of vapor. I typically use atty's, but the occasional carto.. I may succumb to a tankomizor per se - but only when I must! I am at the core a dripper, but I am licking for capacity that delivers... with taste and throat hit and flavor!
