Hi,

I am a smoking addicted since 20 years now, and I am considering to quit and try one of this fancy e-cigs I see blooming among smokers. However, there is so much availability that I am really confused on where to start. Most of the review I see are about design and fancy kits, but no one says something about quality and healthiness. Which is the best for you? and why?

Thanks

While the exact health benefits from e cigs is still a bit of an unknown, it is reasonably safe to say that they are far healthier to use than tobacco.

You can go to Youtube and look up guys like GrimmGreen and Phil Busardo and a bunch of other guys that have reviews of most of the products you see. You can also check out ........ for deals. Beginner setups are basic and a good jumping in point because of the prices, but the next level up will provide a better experience but it does get much more involved and a bit more pricey.

When you step up to variable volt and or variable wattage many of the devices begin to work roughly the same. At least similar features anyway. I jumped in with a kit that had 2 Vision Spinners (same thing as the ego twist basically) and than moved on to more involved devices.

Just check out some videos, they are very detailed and will help you make a decision.

Welcome to vaping.

I always suggest that everyone buy an eGo Twist.
Everyone needs one and it's at a great price point to get you started.

No matter what device you end up with an eGo is a standard goto ecig that will at the very east be a great backup system.
Many are happy long term with eGo's or eGo knockoffs like the Spinner.

Congrats on taking the plunge!

I started right away with some ego twists and kanger t3 and evods, a similar setup would be a great start, yo have a good battery live, a great vapor production, throat hit and flavor. I'm closing on three months and don't have the urge to upgrade any time soon.
don't forget to back up!! at least 2 batteries and depending your juice a few evods.

Hi there and welcome to ecf. I've been vaping nearly two years now.

What we always ask when new folks come on is a few questions so that we can steer you in the direction you want to go.

A lot of new vapers often want the device to look like an actual cigarette when they first start out. This usually passes within a month or two once the former smoker is comfortable with vaping and starts to enjoy it more. So, the question is, how important to you is it that the device look like a real cig? If it is very important I suggest you go to either Smokeless Image or Vapor for Life. Both of these companies are well regarded and reviewed here. They are honest and their products work reasonably well.

The second question I'd ask is what kind of lifestyle you lead. For example, if you are a truck driver or sit at a desk all day long I'd recommend something different than say if you were a construction worker or deployed armed services member.

Third, if the cigarette lookalike thing isn't important, the above posts have recommended either the Ego twist or the Vision spinner. There's a reason these two are recommended to newbs. It's because of their ease of operation and their reliability. They are also a fairly cheap starting point. So if form factor doesn't matter so much consider one of these. The Ego and the Vision spinner are more or less the same exact device made by different manufacturer's. The price is usually about the same.

There are so many reviews on You tube as mentioned. That is where I started. I was confused at first, but after hearing the terms over and over I started to catch on. My advice is to go to the forums suppier list (It is a button up on top of this page) and get an eGo starters kit. Now there are a bunch of eGos to choose from but most of the venders I have seen have put together a decent kit. It should run roughly $50 give or take $10.

Good luck and welcome.

I'm two months in with the Ego-C and Ego-C Twist - you can't go wrong with these as a starting setup. They're reasonably priced, the 1000 mah variants last nearly a full day on a charge (and I'm a chain vaper), and they have standard threading to fit almost any carts/clearos.

The only drawback is that they're a little bigger than other "starter" kits, and they're somewhat (though not unreasonably) fragile.

For a cigarette sized device, i think the only way to go is with the Ovale mini or eroll. If you go with this buy some extra tanks so you dont need to refill as often. I have moved on to mods but i still keep the eroll handy. It provides a good vape and is similar in size to a cigarette. It comes with a case that doubles as a charger. Very small and easy to use with automatic battery. 2 batteries are included in the kit so you always have a spare available. The downside is short battery life. With an ego or mod batteries can last much longer.

Many others have said it here.

Go with an Ego Twist, Vision Spinner or similar starter kit, a pack of 5 cartomizers ('cartos'), 2 or 3 Clearomizers ('clearos'), and a small supply of sample eJuices that you think you'll like. (Prolly between $50 and $85, and you're all set.)
You simply can't go wrong, and you can't go much cheaper to get a 'satisfying' vaping experience. There are cheaper kits available, especially for small, cigarette look-a-likes, but many people find that the battereis are weak, they need to be with a battery charger for these ALL day and night, the 'smoking' experience is not very satisfying after a very short period of time, and then move up to the egos or spinners, considered a 'mid-size' ecig setup. You will actually save a few dollars by bypassing the small-battery kits, and going directly to a mid-size kit.

Cheers....

I'd recommend any decent eGo sized unit to start with. 3.7V single voltage will work fine with low resistance atomizers of any type. Cartos are probably the most simple way to start. VV or VW are nice features but neither are essential for a first PV to get you off the cigarettes.

You won't see the health benefits of any e-cigarette touted by manufacturers, sellers or reviewers because they are forbidden by law to do so. E-cigs are sold in this country as tobacco products. They contain no tobacco, but do contain nicotine that is processed from tobacco. Pharmaceutical products may be promoted with health benefit claims. These include nicotine inhalers, nicotine patches and gum and use the same nicotine found in e-cigarette products. Needless to say, there is a huge war going on between those who supply refined nicotine in e-cigarettes and those who supply it in pharmaceuticals.

I agree 1000% with TyPie Start right from the beginning.

Started with lookalikes, bought overpriced ego knockoff from local tobacco shop, bought some clearos, and mini tanks (vivi nova mini), diy juice with way to many flavor concentrates (and all the stuff needed to mix it), bought 2 ego twists in a kit (cheaper than the ego knockoffs locally), and am now waiting on mail man to deliver Vamo and AGA-T2

about $850 spent in 1 month, so starting at $70-$90 isn't bad

check out all the info here on ECF, I really like PBusardo and GrimmGreen reviews on youtube, they both give honest reviews and is another good source of info

BTW - I was 30+ cigs a day for 36 years - stopped smoking the same day as I started vaping and have had no issues with wanting a cig

Man, I went straight from analog look alike to a VV, after reading this thread I kinda want an eGo now too, this is how the massive collection begins, isnt it?
Yeah. And there are some big PV collectors here at ECF. I never used cigalikes. I'm not really into collecting e-cigs (or toasters, for that matter). I have the E-Power 14650 that I started with and used for a year and a half. It's my back-up unit now. My only other e-cig the Sigelei Zmax Telescopic.

Welcome TedB. I'm a Londoner, but long-since left....

You did the right thing coming onto a Forum, as for the most part Google will spill out endless "fake" reviews, and put the most expensive and ineffective e-cigs at the top of the results. All e-cigs work in the same way (basically) providing vapour which is less harmful than smoking.
However, not all e-cigs provide a satisfying "vaping" experience and a lot of the small ones on sale make claims about the equivalent amount of cigarettes (in puffs and nicotine) which are simply lies. Because there is no set amount of nicotine in a real cigarette a make of e-cigs can say their product will do 30 or 40 cigarettes-worth when the nicotine you get is no more than a few ultra lights.
The simple answer is only trust real vapers to tell the truth....and you'll only get that on a forum.
There are also lots of trustworthy vendors out there too, but you might not find them searching on google either, unless you know their name.
