Tons of vapor, but no flavor?

I built a 2.0 Ohm Coil in a DID clone, This is the first coil I've built on this atomizer, coil is working great, glowing evenly and everything.

I have 2 problems I've never run into before, and can't seem to figure out what's going on. The first (and main) issue i'm having is there is 0 flavor, a LOT of vapor, but no flavor, not even that gross "hot wire" taste that you can get for wrapping too loose of a coil.

My second issue is that while chain vaping the thing to try and see if I broke it in a little it might work better, I noticed the device got hot, and not just really warm, but so hot that it actually melted the drip tip I had in there (I noticed when I finally got flavor....burning plastic)

I'm still very new to this, so any help would be greatly appreciated guys!

initial theory is loose coils, but it is possible that something else is causing this but more info is needed. is fill plug in or out making a difference? sometimes if the wick is touching the inside of the top cap it can cause some heating issues, make sure the wick has some distance between it & the top cap. to many watts with 32g wire can cause heat and flavor loss. and a poorly oxidized wick can also be the blame, and lastly, it can be just a poorly wicking wick, but you said you have lots of vapor, so maybe the wick is fine. the main reason is usually a short on the wick, this should be the first thing to check, when you said all the coils glow evenly, was this checked with no juice in the tank? if not take out all the juice, with a dry wick pulse coil, if you see a coil that is red and out glowing the others nudge the coils above and below this one, or just nudge all of them till they all light up evenly. this nudging should be done at low volts and then slowly move up to your desired vaping voltages. if you had initially checked the coils with juice in the tank then this isn't the right way of checking for hot spots after you wrap the wick. if you did check the coils initially with no juice in tank and everything was fine, then you added juice, you can still have hot spots. a lot of time people will check for shorts by dry pulsing and after a quick look they add juice but fail to take more time in this process. after adding juice and vaping the pv the wires can expand & contract initially causing a shorted coil that was fine just a little while ago, this is especially true for 32g wire, the 32g is thin and is more unstable then the thicker wires. also a loose connection somewhere can also make the device really hot. theres so many possibilitys it could be, and a pain sometimes as well, but after you get more experience it will become second nature.good luck

Thanks for your reply, ultimate I decided to just wrap another coil on a new wick, and it performs well, I think the previous wick may have just been poorly oxidized like you mentioned, however it still gets extremely hot, and I believe it's due to the rba being a mini did clone, so I've placed an order for the RSST, and some thicker wire.

Thanks again for the advice!

its definitely possible that a very small device like the mini did is just a hot device. I have never had one of those so I couldn't tell you. I do however have one of those rsst gennys, they are great for the price and think you will be happy with it. be careful in the type of juice you use with it because it is a plastic tank. I heard someone almost ruining one because they initially cleaned it out with alcohol.
