Too much throat hit from new Volt

I just got my kit today, the throat hit is a little bit much for my liking. I smoke Camel Turkish Golds and the draw and hit is very smooth for me. I am hoping to find a similar feeling vape experience. The feeling of the hit specifically not the flavor of the Camels.

I ordered:

18mg Cowboy prefilled cartos...do not like them, to harsh, weird taste.
12mg Grape prefilled cartos. This is my favorite so far, but the TH is still a bit much.
Desert Joe 12mg liquid. This is my 2nd favorite, but again too much TH.
18mg grape liquid. haven't tried it yet.
18 mg 555 liquid. Not a fan of the flavor, harsh TH.

I believe I am vaping correctly, slow long draws, hold it a sec before inhaling. So I don't think that is the issue.

So far I am not really digging any of the tobacco flavors. I think I will enjoy the sweeter or fruity flavors more. Something I didn't anticipate. Maybe even a menthol flavor. I enjoyed menthol analogs every now and then. Camel Crush or Marlboro Light menthol specifically.

As far the TH goes I have read a few things on that.
1. I am going to try ordering a lower strength carto / juice.
2. PG vs VG?
The prefilled volt cartos are 80 PG 20 VG. The liquids aren't labeled but I assume they are the same 80/20. Should I also try switching to a heavier VG mix? I believe I read that VG heavy juices don't work so well in cartomizers?

I am about to go on a mission to find my flavor but would like a little input before ordering again. I really like the design of the volt and the pcc and the battery life is good so far. Great customer service aswell. Props to Imagine. I just need to find the right flavor / strength for me I guess.

Honeslty, it is kind of unusual for a newbie to find that 12mg a bit harsh. But, if that's the case than you might wanna step it down even further to 8mg.

I would also HIGHLY suggest that you get some blank cartos and explore all the excellent vendors out there. IMO hardware vendors usually don't have the best juices.

Forgot to add that yes, higher vg juices don't really work in cartos. It takes longer for them to wick and if you vape heavily without taking breaks. Than the carto will become burnt.

If your really worried about this than: 70/30 & 60/40 will work as well. I would just get 3-10ml bottles to test them out. They are relatively cheap as well.

i thought the same thing when i first started off with the Bloog, which is the same as your volt. what i realized now is that the juice wasn't seeping into the cartomizer correctly, and instead it's burning the filler in your cartomizer. there's just no way that 12mg nicotine and a kr808 (the PV you're using) can cause throat hit that's too reckless for your throat. and i'm just assuming because of your user name, you can handle harsh inhales -.-

use a google search (put "site:E-Cigarette Forum - ECF topic here" into google) to search for better methods to fill your cartomizer. the best way is a syringe, but there's other ways like the condom fill method and the tauryn spin (probably spelt incorrectly)

I had a hard time with the throat hit when I started. It took several days time and a change in juice vendors before I was able to vape without coughing. Vapor is not the same thing as smoke and your body may take a while to get used to the difference, it can be like learning to smoke all over again. By all means make sure your equipment is working properly, that you're not dry burning, but be patient, give it a few days, and experiment with different juices. The problem with VG juices and cartos is the thickness. You may need to thin them with water for proper wicking. Pure grain alcohol (PGA) or vodka can be used as well, but they increase throat hit.

I think it's the juice they use in the pre filled cartos. I got the cherry and the watermelon. Same thing, burning throat hit and tasted like old medicine. NASTY!! Boil em out and replace with some good juice from elsewhere. I love my Volt and Smokeless Image ROCKS on customer service, but there juices sucks. lol The blanks cartos are awsome though and at a decent price.

I too did not care for the regular tobacco flavors it did not get it for me. And then I found Watermelon Ice It is a watermelon menthol blend and I fell in love. Just stick with till you find what is right for you and you will be alright. Vape on Brutha.

nocturn4l3030, I think you were right, but it seems odd that it was happening with my prefilled cartos. I used to the condom method to fill a couple blanks with the 18mg grape and have been happily vaping all day. Only had 2 analogs all day and one was first thing in the morning. I am already starting to dislike the taste of my old camels....

Prefilled cartos sit in a wharehouse somewhere for longer than we know. Most of them are not filled completely full and have a tendency to get dry. This dryness can cause the harsh TH.

If you're new to vaping, remember to drink lots of water when you vape. Vaping dehydrates you and that can definitely make your throat sore.

And as previously mentioned, high PG and high nic give you more throat hit.
