I'm so smart!!! I know what F35 is!!! Not. I asked hubby because he was in the Airforce. He told me.

Did your grandson use the GI bill to get his degree? That's what hubby did.

    Nice looking young man!

Anyone have any experience with an Achilles rda?

It is about all I use. It is a dripper that holds a lot of fluid and never leaks. After trying many, many set ups, I have stopped looking and settled on the Achilles. I have 1:1 clones that are unfortunately no longer available but I think they are worth the money even if you have to belly up for full price at Titanium Mods.

    between here and there
My take is that we had it right from the get-go, but then we kept trying to make it wrong.

    add:
Talking about the TC thread with the formaldehyde scare. Which only became a problem when we couldn't settle for a good vape, we had to find a more powerful/complicated one.
Some of us have been around long enough to know that the info being talked about in that thread is really not 'new' news. But to those who are new enough don't know any better and get scared into believing the BS. We all found out on our own the CE4 were garbage and not vapable. And the sub mini tank tested show no problems. So unless you are liking dry hits and/or are one of the cloud vaper chasers' who push their devices to the edge I don't think the vaping most people have done/do are in any danger of creating any formaldehyde.
Me, I need real life clinical studies done with real vapers. Test done on the befores and after type of stuff. We don't know how these test were done in those studies and under what conditions.
I currently do not use TC and don't have any plans to start.

I see some of you are talking and wondering about the other thread going on here are some of the test ive been doing.. im not too worried about my kanthal builds. My builds are not even hitting 400f they average (300-350)
thats 120-170f below the danger number of 470f in the so called tests.

OK, so I tried to vape this tank (KF5) dry in SS316l TC......before the cotton was dry I stopped inhaling it. No dry burnt hits, it just was not good vape at all. But in my mind I felt one coming. (temp control still had not kicked in at all yet at 420f). I took the top chamber of the tank off and kept firing a bunch more times till it was basically dry. There were no burns on the cotton at all. TC seemed to be working only at the very very very end did it kick in with "temp control".
If your using a MTL device and cant tell that your cotton is starting getting dry by just the FLAVOR alone then I guess TC is needed for you but, it was VERY noticeable LONG before the wick was completely dry and TC set in.

Remember not once did "temp protect" pop up while vaping on the tank with juice in it only when i was trying to dry out the wick in the very end to see if it would leave scorch marks which it did not.

Now for a high wattage device that may be another story since the juice evaporates at a much faster rate and that dry hit might sneak up on you.

Yeppers. Ms. Andria. I believe she has some expertise with it.
As KD said, Andria is the person to ask. I believe you have met her "elsewhere", though I don't think I've seen you there in a few weeks. It's the only RDA she really likes.

Which is true, however humankind hasn't always gotten it right.
Nope... and I have to laugh every time some young idjit revs his turbo charged V8 monster at a stoplight thinking he's cooler than the person in the mini-van.

That said, that hopped up Mustang is certainly gonna get there faster (if not stopped for speeding ticket, first).

But for all that, I do not feel like Mustangs need to be pulled from the market...

Hi DP and all fellow tootle puffers! :) As you may (or may not) know I've been out of the loop for a bit as my husband had a laryngectomy due to throat cancer (he smoked cigarettes - unfortunately I couldn't persuade him to vape) and so last year was pretty difficult - no time for ECF or anything else really. I did manage a few emails to our Health Minister, the BBC etc. to challenge a few things :) (it may be better here in the UK than in many places but we still have a pretty steep hill to climb). Hubby is doing really well now and coping with life as a 'neck breather' but it has made even more determined to question misinformation/ misinterpretation which may put people off vaping or send anyone back to cigarettes. There is nothing that I can see in the study* to contradict Dr F's stance re: avoid dry hits and certainly nothing which suggests TC is better (or worse) than watts (at tootle puffer level anyway) or to challenge the RCP's findings. The Royal College of Physicians did look at over 200 studies to reach their 'at least 95% safer' conclusions in 2016 and I shall continue to listen to them (I have no doubt they will adjust their findings if the science merits it) and the likes of Dr F. who look at these things in a vaping-context.
(*and that is definitely my last comment re: wang study here or elsewhere :))
Oh and congrats to @tj99959 's grandson :party:

    Glad your Husband's better!

Vapers can be their worst enemy. I started vaping with ce4's and my health improved. They were not worse than smoking. They are not worse than the cig a likes. They are still being sold in convenience stores as starter kits. Zig Zag is a popular one around here. This kind of stuff provides bad press.

Of course it needs further study, much about vaping does, like battery safety. That's not news. Promoting results without thoroughly vetting is irresponsible. What I learned when I was in a field that depended on research was 1) consider the source. Both Ca dept of public health and Evolve have reasons to promote their research. 2) results might be valid, but they may not be telling the whole story. 3) single studies are nearly worthless to anyone outside of research. It takes a body of studies, peer reviewed, duplicating the same findings to mean anything to something actionable. I can't tell you how many fail just on this one point. My casual observation is that 80% can't be duplicated with the same results. I give high regards to Dr. F's work because his has been validated with similar duplicate results. I'm hanging back until I hear an opinion from him or about 3 others that understand and keep track of research more than I do.

Whatever, I don't think it's something to base major changes on. It's something to keep in mind. I noticed Evolves chart indicates temps go up with shorter intervals between puffs, even for low wattage vapers. I may up my nic level or use 2 devices (juice pairings anyone?) to avoid chain vaping. But that's about it until more is known.

I read the "New studies find..." thread and watched both video's.At first I was worried but after some thought concluded that I shouldn't be.I vape a Kayfun Lite clone with a 28 gauge kanthal coil,9 wraps 2.4 inner id. @1.6 ohms with a whole 8 watts (a heat flux of 90) .I like a cool vape and haven't had the hint of a dry hit in a long, long time.

For anybody wondering, my son WAS doing better had seemed like his normal self yesterday until about 1-4am where his temp spiked threw up and regressed. Had to get surgery, he is still in recovery right now but hopefully we will be able to go home in the next day or two. They are saying he will need a PICC for at home IV Antibiotics for a week. Good thing is we caught it before it infected his spine and caused meningitis or became septic or moved anywhere it could have been worse. I got about 20 flavors coming today am nearing my last of juice and havent had time to make any ugh.

Sorry for the confusing statement. I meant it is amazing what aftermarket manufacturers such as HOH with Kabuki, and Vika with Fantasy tank were able to pull off with flavor and performance with the Nautilus coils that Aspire could not do with the Nautilus tanks and their own coils.

Mind you, one of my favorite early setups was my Provari Mini 2.5 and that original Aspire Nautilus. It definitely outperformed every version of the original Protank line by far.

As the technology progressed, and HOH came out with the Kabuki and Provari came out with the Radius, I loved my Stealth Radius and Stealth Kabuki setup.....still do, along with my Stealth Procyon, but it is P3 connector only and no 510 adapter for the Stealth.

I have quite a few mods, and my Kabuki can only work on 2 of them. I would had picked up the Kabuki 1.5 buy I honestly prefer just a simple 510 base, and that was the difference between the 2 tanks as this point, Vika isn't a total clone, it is shorter, and the airflow is just a little different. It ultimately performs just about as good as the Kabuki.

Got it. This makes perfect sense. Yes, the Kabuki and Vika provide much better flavor than the Nautilus tanks!

Does the study indicate that it's the dry hits we most need to avoid because they are what produces the formaldehyde?

aikane is correct. The research is preliminary, it has neither been peer reviewed nor duplicated. Also, it is unclear how the results of that study apply to normal vaping conditions. Put this in the "hmm that's interesting, let's see where that goes" category in your mind.

    Don't panic :)

Dang, Nu, he was supposed to be going the right direction! Hope things (re)continue to improve for him - and maybe mix up some higher strength nic to get you through!
