Dang, Nu, he was supposed to be going the right direction! Hope things (re)continue to improve for him - and maybe mix up some higher strength nic to get you through!
Hopefully, it is stressful and we are all tired. Gotta go back to the hospital next month when #3 is born (i hate hosptials) Thanks though

My take is pretty simple on that cluster:censored:.

We were our own worse enemy. This all started back when just a good vape wasn't good enough. We simply had to push the envelope to the max. Guess we could say it got out of hand when sub ohm with a mechanical mod became popular. Since then the industry has been trying to find a way to do that safely.
IMO the answer is simple. Don't try to do that period! Settle for a great vape at reasonable power levels and be done with it. I vape in the 7-8 watt range.

Agree 1000%

And ......
Other news of the day.

My grandson finishes his Masters.

With a 4.0 GPA no less.

Wonderful news. Congrats

For anybody wondering, my son WAS doing better had seemed like his normal self yesterday until about 1-4am where his temp spiked threw up and regressed. Had to get surgery, he is still in recovery right now but hopefully we will be able to go home in the next day or two. They are saying he will need a PICC for at home IV Antibiotics for a week. Good thing is we caught it before it infected his spine and caused meningitis or became septic or moved anywhere it could have been worse. I got about 20 flavors coming today am nearing my last of juice and havent had time to make any ugh.

Get well positive energy winging its way to him

Sorry to hear about the setback, but it sounds like things are moving back in the right direction. Giving him antibiotics at home will be a bit of work, but better at home than in the hospital.

Does anyone here have experience with Native Wicks? If so, how do you like it?

I have never used theirs but have used Pima cotton from someone else. I like it better than most cotton, but it takes a little break in. Best way to use it is soak it in juice, then fire the coil while blowing the vapor away a few times. Otherwise you get an off taste for awhile. Given the price, maybe Native Wicks doesn't have that off taste, but the Pima I used did.

Does the study indicate that it's the dry hits we most need to avoid because they are what produces the formaldehyde?

No they're saying that once the temp gets up to and past ~470F the bad stuff can start to happen.

I just feel with the coils I make with a heat flux of 90 and wattage I use my coils would never get that hot.
(I think).I mentioned dry hits cause to me they would show I'm getting close to that temp of badness.

I should have also added that when I clean my coils (once a week) I never see any sign of burned/singed cotton wick when changed.

But, but, I like my Polo shirts of Pima cotton. I'm not sure I want to cut them up just for the sake of a wick. Besides, don't the color dyes change the taste, or is that overthinking it? :D

NU_, hang in there, hon. We're ALL rooting for you both.

That thread - oh my.

Sorry, @iBloke that @Katdarling sent you over there. I didn't realize that you must have done something to peez her off. My condolences. ;)

@iBloke-y, my sincere apologies. But hey! Enjoy the light read! :D

 - thanks for that - I'm going to memorise the song and sing it next time I'm tempted to post over there :thumb:

Ya, I keep postin' over there, and I keep getting the same question asked "how do you know?", and I keep postin' the same answer "I don't care".

Got my last high temp vape (dry hit) back in the CE4 days.

kates, hi you. :) I have to tell you tho, that amongst the maddening crowd there, I have enjoyed your posts (you, kates, and you, tj) VERY much.

    (congrats to g/son, tj!!!)

I've actually stopped even THINKING about following that thread. I'm very much in agreement with DPL on this topic, and I believe the more we (as a community) discuss, the more fodder we give. We are NOT insulated and the walls are KWITE see-thru.

    And in the end ...

    The love you take
Is equal to the love you make*

... I am happy. I vape happy, and my vapes are happy with me. Someday, perhaps in our near future, there will be konkrete evidence provided by several respected and independent sources, that change my perspective. At that point, I suspect our gear will be vastly different, and "TC" (TG, TL, whatevs) will also have come the distance, and provide us with abstolute plug and play gear for a "safer" vaping MO.

I couldn't possibly say it better than you already have. :thumb:

I just try to bring some musical interludes to the party. Music is important.

    *Musicade.

It's those 7-8 watt cloud machines that ruin it for all of us 6 watters!

    OK, all three of us.:D

    :D Hahahaha.

So on the idea of vaping safety I started wearing a hard hat while I vape.
No need to thank me peeps, just doing my part as a vaper.
So far so good, but every time I go by a mirror this song pops up in my head.
    Hmmm,,,

So this one time (no, not at band camp), I was invited up on the stage where the VP were performing. We danced like crazy to "YMCA".

Or I dreamt that. Hard to say. ;)

Nope... and I have to laugh every time some young idjit revs his turbo charged V8 monster at a stoplight thinking he's cooler than the person in the mini-van.

    YOU DRIVE A MINI VAN??????????????

Vapers can be their worst enemy. I started vaping with ce4's and my health improved. They were not worse than smoking. They are not worse than the cig a likes. They are still being sold in convenience stores as starter kits. Zig Zag is a popular one around here. This kind of stuff provides bad press.

Of course it needs further study, much about vaping does, like battery safety. That's not news. Promoting results without thoroughly vetting is irresponsible. What I learned when I was in a field that depended on research was 1) consider the source. Both Ca dept of public health and Evolve have reasons to promote their research. 2) results might be valid, but they may not be telling the whole story. 3) single studies are nearly worthless to anyone outside of research. It takes a body of studies, peer reviewed, duplicating the same findings to mean anything to something actionable. I can't tell you how many fail just on this one point. My casual observation is that 80% can't be duplicated with the same results. I give high regards to Dr. F's work because his has been validated with similar duplicate results. I'm hanging back until I hear an opinion from him or about 3 others that understand and keep track of research more than I do.

Whatever, I don't think it's something to base major changes on. It's something to keep in mind. I noticed Evolves chart indicates temps go up with shorter intervals between puffs, even for low wattage vapers. I may up my nic level or use 2 devices (juice pairings anyone?) to avoid chain vaping. But that's about it until more is known.

    Just my :2c: on TC-stuffz.....

I fiddle with some Ni200 coils (pre-made for the Nauti/Triton Mini.) My interpretation on at least setting up TC is that the Wattage merely determines how quickly you get to your set Temp. I'm a mid-range vaper - 12-50W, and 50 is pushing my threshold. I don't like an excessively warm vape, but I don't like a cold vape either. I dabble with SS coils, but I've yet to get one of my mods to deliver SS TC the same way I like SS in VW mode. Admittedly, I've not played with my more "sophisticated" mods to get SS TC the way I like it. I will continue to muck about to find another level of vape nirvana.....
