The dna 30 doesn’t down regulate output below 4v.
evolve provides spec sheets you can read on every 'chip' they produce.
The clone doesn’t down regulate below 3.6v.

This means, until the battery voltage falls below the above minimums you will be vaping at a higher power than what is displayed on the screen.
That is unless you use very narrow & specific resistance range that makes the power range selected possible.

Important that folks read chip specs before purchasing.

Very correct, and possibly noticeable for TP'ers (was for me). The DNA40 changed my "Evolving" world (and the 75 is quite marvelous too).

To Elvis' point, reading is essential.

Thanks heard grub screws are better, it's not just time... I really do struggle to build!

Grub screws are definitely easier. If you buy premade coils and go to Amazon and buy a Wiha hex driver (like a screwdriver with a hex end) it's a piece of cake. You just loosen the grub screws, insert the legs of the coil in a straight motion, and tighten the grub screws. Insert a wick and you're done.

I need opinions on Zen's HOH ZNA mod clone.

I would like to buy the real thing but it's too expensive for me. : ZNA Lite (B-Stock)

FT has a clone I can afford IF it's any good.
$52.47 Free Shipping ZNA 50 Style Variable Wattage APV Mod (ZNA 50, SS + Aluminum) at m.FastTech.com

Does anyone have the clone? Like it?
@Bea-FL, I don't have this clone but having purchased on FT for years I can make a couple of observations that may help your buying decision:

There are 2 clones available:
$52.47 ZNA 50 Style Variable Wattage APV Mod - 7W-50W / 1*18500 or 1*18650 / stainless steel + aluminum at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
$38.86 ZNA 50 Style Variable Wattage APV Mod - 7W-50W / 1*18500 or 1*18650 / stainless steel + aluminum at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

The last one being a lot less expensive.

The first one has a 4.4 rating out of 74 reviews
The second one has a 4.5 rating out of 25 reviews

Both of those are pretty good ratings. You can also read the "Discussions" section and the "Reviews" section to get uber detail on people's experience and/or issues with the device.

And, I quote: Potatoes, Oil, Salt.

I don't see how this is helpful...

Is that better?, does my response seem helpful to you now...

Most low to mid power ranger vapers will be much better off / happier with newer devices having newer technology 'chips'.
(full down regulation capabilities)

A cheap Pico (or similar) is hard to beat & is more advanced than even the very best older 'chips'.

Thsnks for taking the time to answer me. Here is my vape style…and not likely to change as it's been the same for almost three years. Provari mini, @3.3-3.4V with a 1.5 Ω coil. That's it. I was just thinking about the zna because I like the shape…almost a pen style which I prefer. So given my vaping style will the zna work for me?

I hve picos in my stash…dont like them. Not a fan of box shape. Do I really need to worry about chips? Am I in "That is unless you use very narrow & specific resistance range that makes the power range selected possible?"

Sorry, I hope all this doesnt sound dumb. But vaping is not a hobby for me. I vape not to smoke. Thanks for all your input.

If you can swing the (aforementioned in other thread) "Jackie OH!", I'd bet dollars to donuts you'd be pleased as punch. It's about as close as you can get to being a tube without being a tube. Some (@pufZeppelin ) might argue, but I might be tempted to say, "Best mod ever!"

With an Evolv chip, even. :thumb:

IMO you will be happy with it... I like the shape/style also and for simple vaping I think you will enjoy and use for a long time.

Because the dna 30 & many others do not down regulate/step down/buck voltage output or do not down regulate/step down/buck to a voltage that will provide an equal in power you normally vape, it may be very important to you to get a device that is capable of supplying the output range you desire.
example,
your preference.
3.3v / 1.5Ω = 7.2w
3.4v / 1.5Ω = 7.7w

dna 30 & many others, figures vary depending on ability to down regulate.
The minimum output voltage is the voltage that will be sent to the coil until the battery voltage drops to 3.6ish v - 3.8ish v depending on battery voltage sag under load.
4v / 1.5Ω = 10.6w

So no matter what the screen shows you will be vaping at 10+w until the battery voltage drops to a level that makes it possible, ohms law.

Voltage & wattage are inseparably linked.
Voltage to the coil met with resistance = watts
Watts sent to the coil met with resistance = voltage.
4v /1.5Ω = 10.6w
10.6w / 1.5Ω = 4v

To get to your preferred power range of 7.2w - 7.7w with a 4v output minimum, the narrow resistance range I mentioned would be 2.0Ω to 2.2Ω.
4v / 2.2Ω = 7.2w
4v / 2.0Ω = 7.7w

Simply put, the dna 30 & others have a minimum v output of 4v.
you like to vape at 3.3v - 3.4 v,,, it isn't capable of providing 3.3v to the coil because it has a 4v minimum output.

I don't consider vaping a hobby either, only a means to keep off the smokes.

It is impossible to say whether you will like it or not, you might love vaping a 1.5Ω at 10w, many do.
My normal everyday vape is 1.6Ω - 1.8Ω at 10.6w - 17w.

I used to spend about $40-$50 a month on four 50ml bottles of vendor juice. That was roughly $500-$600 a year. I spent about $300 on two liter bottles of nic base, a set of scales, some glass mixing bottles, 50ml LDPE bottles to transfer to after steeping, 50 or so flavors (over time), and various other accessories needed for DIY.

Other than replacing consumables I'm good for a long time at low cost. The savings are significant and the juice I'm making is generally better than what I was buying. I have about 50 full and partial 50ml bottles of various juices at various steeping levels all the time.

I absolutely don't regret switching to DIY. Once you glean some knowledge from the gurus here on ECF it's easy to make excellent juice!

I've been "self reliant" for so long now that I've forgotten what it's like to actually buy something. ;)
