I'm not a fan of yoga. see way too many people hurt themself in Yoga.

if the instructor suggests only doing what the body is capable of then I got no complaint.

Tail Chi and Qigong are very good too.
This is true of any fitness or physical regimen.

I've met a lot of bad yoga teachers in my life, but I am stuck on Anusara yoga, which is also called "Yoga of the Heart," and to get through their training program, you're going to need to know what you are doing. There's a lot of muscle resistance training, and the presumption is that you will get more flexible only by working those muscle groups appropriately and against each other.

I have yet to be injured by yoga, but I had great teachers over the years. I've started practicing "blind" because it's kind of fun, but it does increase the risk of injury... I've still never been injured and I shouldn't be, not with the skills I have, though I suppose nothing's impossible.

With that said I've met some terrible yoga teachers over the years, most training programs aren't nearly enough....

This is true of any fitness or physical regimen.
this is true but I see 5-10 times as many walking wounded from the yoga path.

many exercise regimens are TERRIBLE.

pain is a symptom that something is wrong.

I have ttaught Ba Duan Jin, Zhan Zhuang, and my own Mato form of Qigong for years.

I always tell students "Do what your body will let you do. over time your body will loosen up. then you will be able to do more without hurting yourself."

when I created the Mato form of Qigong I developed it specifically for Senior citizens.

I took the best parts of

Ba Duan Jin Qigong
Wah Nam Qigong
Yang form Tail Chi
Zhan Zhuang Qigong

and give senior citizens a remarkable work out in a short amount of time.

Almost everyone around Martial arts knows the horse stance from Shaolin Kung Fu. and 3-5 minutes is WORK.

I had 60-85 year Olds standing in the Zhan Zhuang second position (holding the balloon) for 6 minutes. Holding the balloon is the horse stance on steroids!

while living in Ellensburg Washington I taught Qigong at Briarwood Common 55 years and older apartment complex i had those seniors standing in Holding the balloon for 12 minutes.

I also taught Qigong at Dry Creek assisted living facility these seniors were unable to live on their own. had a few in their 90s and they LOVED it. This group never got over 4 minutes in holding the balloon. we set reasonable goals and slowly strengthened bodies and slowly reached those goals.

That's only because Pilates and Yoga are for the "in" crowd these days, though I agree that if you focus on flexibility before strength, you are going to lose, at yoga. I did know a great teacher who was Anusara, he was a former pro hockey player and totally destroyed his knee, and had it completely rebuilt, but he could do stuff I could only dream of. There is also gentle yoga, and yoga for injuries, I've known a good few teachers there.... :) Though again, if you do not build strength before flexibility, it's useless.

With that said, I don't think yoga is a great place to start for seniors, what you developed sounds far more interesting. If you really, really love yoga and have done it for decades as a meditative practice? Well, like I said, I have never been injured. I also know my limitations, which are few, but they exist.... :)

Thanks for sharing what you taught again, Two Bears, it really sounds wonderful and I'm sure your students loved it.

And hello TPuffs. Howzit?

Other than the new federal regs coming and the provincial regs announced last week it is going great.

I be thinking my vaperversy present can wait as it seems mods are barely mentioned. I see a couple more liters of nic really soon.

the problem is on two fronts.

too many bad yoga teachers.

Unrealistic goals of the students.

Meet my new work bench dripper s/u, Dripper Pro on my Provari. Received the Dripper yesterday afternoon from a gracious lady, KD. It vapes right up my alley. It has a fairly tight draw, think Carto, which is what I like, the flavor from my BWB RY4 is excellent, the vapor is great also. I also received some wicking, and wire, and extra ceramic cups. I installed a stock coil with the silica wick. The coil is 2.5Ω, and I'm vaping at 4.2v. At some point I will try the RXW that came with it.
Phil B. says 15 drops to initially fill, but it'll take 20, maybe even 25, and no gurgling. Anywho, I'm very happy with this.

you know what.

I have met way too many walking wounded from Yoga.

I have also met walking wounded from the ab roller, P90X, the rave exercise from Brazil (can't think of name), Tae Bo, Calisthenics, and many others even 1 or two from Tai Chi.

I have NEVER met a walking wounded from Pilates or Qigong.

Now Qigong is all about slow controlled movements and tuning into the signals coming from your body .

no personal experience with Pilates. so I don't know how that is taught.

THE MOST DANGEROUS exercise gear out there is the stupid Ab Roller.

my Mato form goes this way.

BDJ=Ba Duan Jin
WNQ=Wah Nam Qigong
YTC = Yang Tai Chi
ZZQ Zhan Zhuang Qigong

Warm up the shoulders BDJ
Rotate belly WNQ
Support Sky BDJ
Cloud Hands ETC
Lift single hand BDJ
Big Windmill WNQ
Hold balloon ZZQ
Bounce BDJ

that Bounce at the end is a lymphatic pump to get the lymph moving instead of being sluggish and stagnant.

I also taught other classes for seniors. the one class I wanted to teach was self defense. it was a combination of Aikido, Ate Waza, Jiu Jitsu, and how to attack nerve holds and pressure points.

since it was considered too dangerous I wasn't allowed to.

I feel that anyone starting a fight deserves what happens to them, and the victim should go home alive at the end of the day.

June 2015 a homeless person sit by me on the SunTran bus and demanded money. I told him I didn't carry money down town. at that point he put a knife to my throat and i attacked at the same time I elbowed him real hard under the short ribs and got the knife in front then I used Jiu Jitsu to reorganize the ligaments in his shoulder and elbow.

Master Tong that taught me everything I wanted to teach the seniors often said "if you can't end a fight in 60 seconds; you don't need to learn to fight. YOU NEED A CASKET!

I never went looking for a fight. but sure didn't run away from one i couldn't avoid

Very nice, but at first look it has striking resemblance to one of the Apollo rockets.

What are the basics of how they're going after nic up in your neck of the woods ???...Trig

Yes, I'd be interested in that, too. I'll be buying another liter (or gallon) of nic before I buy anything else vape-related, honestly it seems smart. :)

Anna
Anna...I clearly see the Aug. 2022 (?) date on the gear but maybe I'm just missing the bits on nic...So same question for us ???...What's a date we're looking at on nic and how are they going after it ???...Trig

I am uncertain, but I would tend to think that if something is yanked off the market first, it would be DIY nic, honestly, so I'm going by hunch more than anything tangible.... That's just not something I think anyone making money on taxing and regulating juice and gear, really, as it's so much less expensive than buying premade juice. Perhaps I am overly paranoid however, but I really see a strong case being made that buying wholesale nic is going to be difficult, at the very least.
