To me the issue isn't the coil, that's easy (well, without doing some amazingly complex braided wire). It's getting the proper wick that's a true art. Been practicing my Scottish Roll.
I prefer the Irish roll. That's where you go to the Irish pub (which happens to be 2 blocks from my home, who'da thunk you could find a good Irish Pub in nowheresville Indiana) and drink so much your friends have to roll you home.

I've never really tried anything more than just pulling a strip through the coil. Does something like the Scottish Roll method really make that much difference?

My Scottish rolls seem to turn out better after a solid Irish roll ahead of time. I think it does make a difference on some decks to have it fluffier. It seems to me that with the organic cotton sheets, taking that outer, essentially compressed skin off should allow better wicking. The more porous the cotton, the better it should wick. In the end, it's just a matter of something that wicks consistently and doesn't cause a leak.

Then of course there's also Rayon to play with, never mind SS mesh, but I'm nowhere near that yet.

I've been FakeBookin', reading up, learning about "the system", and keeping a-breast (?) of all things vape, politix, advocassey, etc. That, and inventory-ing and stashing vape gear. We've been buying the staples and necessities and really, for the most part, turning a blind eye to the new shiny schtuffs.

Ummmm...... welp, except this one. ;)

I'm just taunting JK. I KNOWZ if she gets some experience, she'll be a happier vaper.

Mr. Kad.... I was onsite with a client the past couple of days. Not too far from the Kadster. Asked if he'd meet me for supper. Had a LOVELY time. Hoping we can meet up again.

First time I've met a real-life ECF'er!!!!

ETA.... that newbie mod is GORGEOUS!!!! Smoant?

+1.

I do a modified Scottish roll, I suppose. I peel both outer layers of the cotton pad and stretch it out a bit to make it fluffier. I cut a width that looks about right, then gently roll it in my palm - not enough to compact it, just enough to get it kinda round.

Once it's in the coil, juice it up, then spend a considerable amount of time trimming and tweaking to get it just right. For RDAs, I don't have to mess with it too much, but for RTAs I spend a bit more time.

It depends on the atty; some are easier to wick than others. In most cases, I spend twice as much time screwing around with the wicks than I do wrapping and installing the coils. I figure it's time well spent, because once I have a good wick in, I don't have to mess with it for a week or so.

BOOM!

Oooo you got the heron clone happening. How easy was the build
Really simple build. The mounting screws are perfect, they hold the wires with no trouble at all and everything fits together really nice. Airflow is good, flavor is good and I really like the looks.

They discontinued it already which I do not understand. Maybe its because we got em before the authentic was released?

Weird.....I hope they put em back up I want another one.

Ok, so what's this Scottish roll?

I just looked it up. It's taking a cotton sheet, pulling of a layer, fluffing it out to loosen the fibers and then rolling it to "over-stuff" the coil(s). More of a cylinder of cotton - holds more than the "typical" wisp.

Probably more effective for RDAs or RDTAs?
