Hi all, it's been a little while since I last visited this thread. I've become addicted to Evods and the old Kanger coils/atties. While searching the 'prehistoric' posts in the tips and tricks thread I've come across a lot of interesting stuff. What's on my mind right now is using cheesecloth for wicking. Sounds perfect for replicating exactly the same wick performance/density every time.
Then I recalled seeing gauze from the dollar tree mentioned in this forum. Just wondering if gauze was a natural progression from cheesecloth or if it may have replaced cheesecloth over contamination issues. Seeking advice on which might be better, safer or cleaner. I tend to be leaning more toward the all natural or organic properties of cheesecloth over the sanitized nature of the gauze. Any advice, experiences someone might have to share would be appreciated.

I saw the use of gauze in one of the blogs from the Eleaf GS thread. I could never find any that did not have an antiseptic smell so I was put off using it.

this is the way I did it for a long time - very much enjoyed the results
the 'cotton yarn' was consistently GREAT ! over-n-over and dirt cheap at wallyworld
I'd cut off 15'-20' throw it into a pot of boiling water then let it hang from a curtain rod overnight
made me feel better about finger germs from the store...

It works really well. I like using it over silica. I also use it when I build bigger ID coils. I double and triple it like the squid. I also use it in my squonker when building my RM2. :thumb:
I think I have enough for a life time from the one roll I bought.
Kind of like the big box of Rayon I have too!!

after reading my last, I should mention,
I believe the cotton yarn to be about 2.2mm diameter (guess)
so I made the coil 2.0mm which made for a perfect marriage...

if/when needed, I would un twist yarn and use a couple strands (of four) for the flavor wick (leakage)

;)

I always liked the single coils best - once the "power" game came into play, the small wick needed to
be increased dramatically (for me) therefore the same reason I ALSO have a GIANT box of rayon...

Those big boxes of rayon will outlast us. I got given a box and have given most of it away. (So I thought) last time I looked the box is still 1/2 full. It grew back

If I mail you the end of my roll out of the box I'd probably still have 1/2 too! I think I could supply 99.9% of the vape community!

update! I finally was able to wrest open my nautilus. I grabbed some proper pliers and got it unscrewed. i am going to make sure that i don't over tighten again. phew what a pain in the .... that was.

It's a bit of a panic when things get stuck and deep down you just know that if you rush it you will crush it :(

All well that ends well.

Yeah, I'm in the middle working out a trade with another member. My Cloupor Mini+for a whole box full of Protanks and such. She's sending a huge hunk of rayon for me. The only time silica has worked at all for me is in my tiny little dripper. I'm happy with my KGD cotton but the idea of counting out single strands of cheesecloth to get the exact same wicking amount every time is attractive to me. The yarn seems to offer the same potential for duplication.

I'm hooked on the precoiled nr-r-nr wire for power efficiency since all my preferred devices are 650-700 mah. They are appx 2mm. Fit a 1/16" drill bit perfectly. I'll have to get some straight nr-r-nr wire so I can vary diameters
