Very nice work there LJ!!! When you say "limited tools",I'm interested in what tools you used to make the wooden boxes,if you don't mind me asking?

I have bought from them a few times. They seem to only carry authentic. Are you looking for something in particular?

Nothing in particular at the moment, just looking at safe reputable Canadian sites to make my first internet order from. They do have alot to choose from. :)

The wooden boxes I bought from Heartwood.com and then I modified them to fit the parts. I wish I had the tools to make my own but unfortunately my 3rd garage has become a storage place rather then my workshop!
Here's a link to what I used for size and style.

Hi all, it's been a little while since I last visited this thread. I've become addicted to Evods and the old Kanger coils/atties. While searching the 'prehistoric' posts in the tips and tricks thread I've come across a lot of interesting stuff. What's on my mind right now is using cheesecloth for wicking. Sounds perfect for replicating exactly the same wick performance/density every time.
Then I recalled seeing gauze from the dollar tree mentioned in this forum. Just wondering if gauze was a natural progression from cheesecloth or if it may have replaced cheesecloth over contamination issues. Seeking advice on which might be better, safer or cleaner. I tend to be leaning more toward the all natural or organic properties of cheesecloth over the sanitized nature of the gauze. Any advice, experiences someone might have to share would be appreciated.

I've used cheese cloth lots to recoil my protank minis way back when. I rolled 1.7mm. inner diameter coils 9 wraps 30 gauge @~2 ohms.If I remember correctly I used 20 strands doubled over and fished through with a small twist tie wire.It worked out pretty good.It was a bit of a pain separtating the strands at first though.

I then went with the knitting cotton from Wally World.Same rolled coil and I believe 2 strands of that fished through the same way as the cheese cloth.Worked with the same consistancy as the cheese cloth.

I now use the Japanese cotton pads,I switched because everyone said it was better flavor yada, yada, yada in reality for me I can't tell a difference but I have a large pack of it and since I can recoil with it in just a few minutes I'm going to stick with it.For me it's just easier to work with.

I recommended them.

Thank You...They'll prolly get my first Interwebs order!WooHoo....I just gotta make sure my credit card balance is paid off before I make any new purchases with it.

Just stopping by to tell all those who offered their prayers, condolences and concern for me and my family upon the death of my beloved husband that I truly appreciate you all! I'm sorry I may not have "liked" everyone's post...but please believe me that over the past several difficult days I've read them all. You are truly like a family to me, and I love you all. Still don't have much time to post here...looks like I'm going to be moving up to upstate NY to be with family so there is a lot to figure out and plan. My life is a chaotic mess, but a person just has to take it a step and a moment at a time.

Anyway...I think of you here in dear old ECF often, and will drop in and visit as often as I can. Bless you all!

Take Care.

You still had to do some intricate drilling and some fine soldering to do for correct placement of parts...Well Done!!!
We got a house with a separate one car garage, that was supposed to be my workshop, turned out to be a huge storage bin for our and our kid's cast off furniture, extra washer and dryer, lawnmower, roto tiller and gardening tools.Everything BUT my wood working tools (which are few).

My work bench is the picknic table in the back yard and for the finer stuff the dining room table.Mrs.sorrynomore still won't let me drill holes in the dining room table to install my 5 inch vise even after I told her it'd get rusty attached to the picnic table. :)

Thanks. It's funny because I had bought a couple of boxes and your right about having to finesse the holes. I ended up breaking one of them because the wood is a bit fragile. I needed to not only drill the holes bit also had to take away some of the wood inside so the connections would fit thru. On the one that I broke I was using a Forstner bit on my drill and when it broke it caught my knuckle. Not a pretty site of mangled flesh! Needless to say when I did the other one the 510 sat on top instead of flush. :D

New York (no, not the city)
Perhaps I used the wrong term? ;) My daughter tells me that maybe I should have said "northern New York state"....Watertown. It's WAY up there near Canada near Lake Ontario.
Ahh, yes, that would be considered "north country", everything past the Adirondacks. I spent an ill-fated six months near Massena, and you might as well be in Canadia! Beautiful land.

My sincere condolences. I wish you well on your journey up north.

My grandmother was from around the watertown area. She and my mom were from Winthrop/Potsdam. Its like what 15ish minutes away from the Canadian border? I have many good memories from up there. Including going to the St. Lawrence Seaway and watching the boats go through the locks. :)

I hope being with your family soothes your soul from the rawness of loss. My prayers go out to you.

I love visiting Massena. And Oh my God, the food, SOOO GOOD! All the little diners through there and the glazier dogs.... I bought 10 pounds last year and brought them home. So dang good. :)
