Back to Tootle Puffing ... FWIW, I tried wrapping a 2.5mm coil on my kayfun and the flavor difference is noticeable. I've wound 3mm coils forever and decided to go smaller. Thinner wick with more wraps on the coil for the same 10W vape obviously contacts more juice for more atomization.

My Hangsen Tobacco has never tasted better on a single coil.

Thanks Dave!
Bookmarked the link for when I consider the upgrade.I will say I'm very happy with Win 7.
We still have two desktop pcs running XP....behind the times...yup!

Video drivers and other assorted hardware issures can make the install fail. I upgraded during the first month last year and lots of people were having serious issues. Things should run more smoothly as Microsoft sorted out the error logs that were created early on.

I'd go to the HP site and let them automatically check for updates on your computer and install them. That will be a huge step toward a successful Windows 10 upgrade. Sometimes, it's just drivers and firmware updates that need to be done.

Once you do the driver update, run the HP readiness check in the link below.

Why? You are using the same length of wire, aren't you?

Same length of wire goes farther and contacts more wick when you decrease the size from 3mm to 2.5mm. Same resistance and heat flux, but it atomizes more juice because a longer coil covers more wick.

Some length of wire (of the same gauge) has the same surface area irrespective of what diameter coil you make. Whether that coil has full contact with the wick, and whether that wick can supply an adequate amount of liquid to the coil depends on your choice of wicking material, your skill in wicking and adequate airflow.

i modded an atty for science for single coils and it works great .

just had to try out a super massive coil and it was fun vaped 6ml of juice in a couple of mins .

it works great on coils around 4mm etc.

True, but the thinner wick exposes more surface area to a slightly longer coil, and the juice in the center of the wick is closer to the heated surface of the coil. You get three more wraps of smaller diameter. Whatever the technical explanation happens to be I like 2.5mm better than my old 3mm builds.

Steam Engine says heat flux is the same, but there's a noticeable flavor increase. I've replaced the wick daily and the flavor remains much better on my EHPro KF3.1 than with my 3mm coils. YMMV, or course.

I've tried spaced coils and compressed coils, vertical and horizontal. You'd think that a spaced coil would atomize more juice because it's longer and there's juice on both sides of a wrap between the spaces, but I didn't notice a difference. I did it for TC.

I've been a Kayfun fan for years now. Tried Rayon, cotton, silica, and other wicks. I keep coming back to Koh Gen Do with an occasional excursion back to Sally's cotton coil.

I've been looking at new rebuildable tanks that have air flow adjustment. I've tried the Lemo 2, Lemo Drop, Orchid V4, and I have a couple of Kayfun 4's. All but the KF4 can't really match the experience of my old Kayfun 3.1. The draw is either too tight or too loose and not that easy to get right, although I'm still playing with them all.

I keep coming back to my old EHPro KF3.1.

Any suggestions for improved tanks that vape similar to the KF3.1? I like 4-5ml juice capacity, since I vape about 8ml a day.

I've only had my Kayfun 3.1 clones for a few months now (love them) and I've settled on 2.24mm i.d. coil of 30 gauge kanthal wicked with shiseido cotton pads,6ish watts.

I use 2.5 & KGD in my KFs also. I've just done my first spaced coil in one. I don't see a difference in vapor or flavor.

I guess I must have just the right touch when I wind 2.5mm coils. :)

Seriously, I'm getting a noticeable flavor boost versus the two years worth of 3mm coils I've used previously. I can taste more of the mild tobacco component in my Hangsen juice. I'm sticking with the 2.5mm step on my mandrel.

I could tell no difference with spaced coils either.

I've been tetter-totterin' back-n-forth with 2.5mm & 3.0mm I.D.

I'm not tasting any flavor difference but with the 3mm I virtually eliminated dry hits
that big fat wick just chugs along and also stops most juice trying to get out thru the bottom of the coil body
gave up on all but spaced coils long ago - spaced just seems best to me

I'm gonna wrap up an army of 2.5mm and see if it shows any diff - why the heck not

Fat wicks cant beat them never a dry hit like a sponge always got some juice in there somewhere .

also helps to have big juice holes to feed a nice fat wick

I'm wondering how long it takes to ramp up, that's a lot of coil. Betting it hits nice though once it's warmed up.

works great @ 40w when it gets going and i tend to chain vape it because it just tastes so good .

i vape like i used to smoke for 5mins when ever i feel the need

takes a couple of pulls to get it ramped up but then it holds its heat very nice .

or if you like a quick instant pull it does good @ 75w -95w gets a little warm above that to chain vape.
