Anyone in Florida had that horrid storm come through yesterday evening? On the wether map it looked to be stretching past Orlando.

In the Jax area it was really scary. The wind was so strong I thought the trees would surely come down.

I hope everone is ok.

Glad you're okay!
We had a ton of rain here yesterday and the semi frozen ground couldn't absorb it all and sorta flooded out the backyard.I'm kinda nervous about going down into the basement to see if any water made it down there, hopefully not.Yup,vaping some Goblins Pipe juice contemplating the cost of new weeping tile for this ol' house.

We lost our electricity early evening and my first thought was "are all my batteries charged"? They were. Lucky because the electric was out all night.

T for Texas!
I had not heard of ReasonableVapes, so I went there to prowl. Came across a new eLeaf tank (at least new to me) that I really like. It's a 2ml RTA, kinda short and stubby. Would be nice on the Pico, I think.

Eleaf Oppo RTA (Authentic) – $20.46 - ReasonableVapes

@ToolmanTexas, I'm in lust with that Radius. I do not buy expensive equipment. The most expensive thing I bought was a few months ago when I got an Evic VTC Mini with an eGo One Mega V1 tank for $49.99. I later found the same setup on special somewhere for $29.99 and bought two more of them.

But, I have a one-year vaping anniversary coming up in about three weeks. If I am ever going to spring for a Radius, that would be the time to do it. I love the look of them, and I know the quality is top notch.

I'm exactly the same way and the only expensive items I have are Provaris (bought second hand or blem on provape site) and some high-end atties bought in the classies here after their star status had waned :)

The Radius is a beauty for sure and performs exactly as one would expect!

Ah, here in NY we're having a beautiful day with temps up to 60! Tomorrow we're getting 10 inches of snow.

Foot of the white stuff Sunday night and monday, temps hovering around 33ish, overcast, so no melt.... Very rare that we get anything like that this close to Puget Sound.... especially this late in the winter... but predicted to near 50 and an inch or so of rain tonight.:blink:

Not that I'll regret seeing all the snow go away, but for many it may produce flooding. (No concerns on that at our house though :nun:.)

Yep, a good time to sit inside and vape!

paranoia. mine are all hardwired with battery backup. That would be like saying a steaming hot shower would set off the hotel alarm, doesn't seem practical or logical

I work in a hotel at the moment. 100 rooms. I get called up to a room 3 or 4 times a week because of an alarm going off. Almost every time it's caused by someone having a long shower with the bathroom door open. Every once in a while someone leaves the iron sitting on the ironing board.

There are 2 types of detector, I'm not well up on the technicalities. I believe one passes an electrical current across a gap between 2 plates, which can be interrupted by something getting in the way. The other type throws a light beam past a detector, it would normally not hit the detector but something in its path can deflect some of the light sideways into the detector. One type is particularly sensitive to the small particles in smoke, the other picks up anything. Some use both types of detection. Don't know which type would be more likely to be set off by vaping.

I've frequently smelled smoke (not cigarette) in rooms but I've never seen a smoke detector set of by that. Don't know about vapor since the smell isn't distinctive and doesn't linger so much, I might not notice it.

My takeaway is that if you want to vape in a hotel room run the shower for a while with the bathroom door open first and you should be good.

True story. Steam will set off smoke detectors... at least the IR kind. They work by detecting IR light, coming from an LED, reflected off of smoke, dust, steam, vapor, etc inside the chamber.

I've tested smoke detectors with vapor in a pinch

This is why a low watt mtl setup with lower VG juice becomes so nice for travel. You don't set off those pesky photoelectric smoke detectors they have (well, they're usually dual, but it's the photoelectric part that can nail you). Because I keep my stealth setup stealthy (yeah, fine, poorly written but it's lunchtime and I'm thinking on what to get) I've vaped with housekeeping in the room and never even got a funny look.

If I'm stuck with a less stealthy setup (poor planning or unexpected trip), then I'll do it in the bathroom, close the door, and blow the cloud towards the tub.
