Haha I do believe I've started an interesting discussion.:D
I do realize how it could be hard to change after all these years of tube mods. But really after searching for that button with my thumb on ego batteries it's nice to wrap my hand around my istick and that button is right there, under my index finger. Just press and fire away! Come on old dogs these are new tricks! Easier! Try it for a day! Lol

I can't see the screen firing either way since its facing perpendicular to my face when firing ;) wrap your hand around the mod, let your index finger settle on the button and it's already there, no awkward positioning required - by design. I agree it's hard to change, but only takes a day :)

Nah, it just feels wrong. Awkward. Like the way it felt to smoke, when I once quit for 3 months. It's true you can't see the screen while firing, but with it just in that position in your hand, the screen is accessible.

Maybe it's different for men, who don't have such long nails.

I'm with you Andria - I use my thumb for everything (including my Provari). Anything but the thumb doesn't feel right to me somehow :D

Yeah... my first button-operated mod was a vv3; at first, I tried it repeatedly with my finger, but it didn't seem right somehow. Once I turned it around and used my thumbs... that felt comfortable. So I've never used anything but my thumbs; either hand -- I'm far less attached to right-hand vaping than I was to right-hand smoking. In fact, I mostly vape left-handed when here at the desk, since the right is often busy with the mouse.

When I briefly had that Evic-VT, I wanted to check it in the mirror, to see what the watts were doing at the setting I was using, so I had to turn it around and finger-fire -- and that thing is so big and heavy, and so awkward in that position, I nearly dropped it, just trying to fire it in such a way that I could see the screen in the mirror! Backward of course, but that was adequate to know if 30w was sufficient to get it up to set temp.

Now, trying to finger-fire feels a lot like trying to write with my left hand. :D

I think I figured out my biggest problem with rebuilding. Proper tools!
Every thing I have is for larger electric repairs. I have got to buy some precision cutters.
Even my nail clippers are cheap.

I always use nail clippers to clip the wire. Big scissors to cut strips from the Shiseido pads, small scissors to trim the wick when it's in position. Really don't see any need to buy "special" tools.

That is what I tried, more than once, but my nail clippers are not cutting all the silica or cotton and I end up pulling out the wick!
Maybe i just need new clippers.

I use scissors for the wick -- clippers are only for wire. Though back when I was still using silica, actually I found the clippers were better than scissors. I think you're right, just need new clippers! :D

Harbor freight.
Small flush cutters 2.99, Set of small screwdriver 3.99, Set of dental picks 2.99, wally world has the scissors I use for 2.99. I got tired of raiding my electronics repair kit and just bought a cheap set of vaping tools.

I need way too much other stuff, to worry about my coil-bldg tools! All the political threads have got me so paranoid, even though I've got probably 10 yrs' worth stashed, I keep thinking I need MOAR NICOTINE!

Last time I mixed my strawberry and cream, I realized I'm getting low on Vanilla Swirl, and I use that stuff so liberally in nearly everything, it's probably time to go ahead and get one of those big bottles from TPA/TFA.

And I have more driptips than some vape stores, but I always think I need more, some other kind, some other color... gahhhhhhhhhh! And of course today I have to order those hypermegasuperduper 20A batteries for the new kbox mini. Somehow or other, I have to figure out how to buy some xmas presents.

A pair of small flush cutters work better. Especially on dual coil setups you can get down in there and snip the wires better than with nail clippers.
2.99 at harbor freight. As cheap or cheaper than nail clippers.

You know better than that -- I NEVER use dual coils! With Kayfuns and Achilles, the nail clippers are perfect to snip the tails off.

Yeah I ruined a pair of nail clippers cutting Kanthal... I had them for years, now they cut my nails ragged.
Many people do duals though, and the flush cutters work better than clippers for them.
