Welcome to ECF good luck. I have no experence with Blu eather but I did try mystic, didnt like them much.
What got me off analogs the first day was the starter kit from Halo, the G6.
I found I didnt like tobacco tasting juice at all. I go for the sweet fruit and candy, pastery flavors. You might want menthol tho since you smoked newport.
You are going to have to make that choice for your self, taste is very subjective. As far as the blu's ive seen some on here that used them and they really did help them.

Most analog look alikes like BLU are easy to refill-

Take the cartridge off the battery.
pry off the plastic cap on the non-threaded end, using a paperclip or nail or something.
Inside you will see a little tube in the center surrounded by filler.
That tube is for airflow, you don't want any juice going there.
Refill it like you would a zippo lighter, dripping juice down the side into the filler and letting it soak in.
Repeat until the filler material stays looking kinda wet.
Blow thru it onto a paper towel, just incase there's juice in the airway.
Replace the endcap and put your battery back on.
Thats it, VAPE.

Regarding Newports, I smoked em since '91 and I hated the menthol Ejuice. Just start trying flavors, you will find what you like pretty quick...I'm hooked on cinnamon danish right now.

Here's the first youtube video that google returned

I used the Blu for 2 weeks when I first quit. Their mint tastes nothing like a menthol cigarette to me...more like..you guessed it..plain mint.
Yes they can be refilled...the same as any carto. You can search youtube for filling cartos videos for a nice visual instruction video. Very easy to refill.
I would strongly suggest refilling since the cartos are very expensive.
After 2 weeks I was sick of the battery life being so short and the cartos expensive but it certainly did help with quitting since they were so similar in size to a regular cigarette.
The juice that I found the most similar to their mint was the spearmint from www.hoosierecig.com
They happen to be my favorite juice vendor and I stayed with them when I moved to bigger batteries. My first ego kit was their smoktech micro ego kit. Its cheap and smaller in size (a nice transition from the blu to an ego). I still use them along with my bigger gear. If you ever decide to go bigger it might be something for you to check out.
Good luck quitting and I hope the Blu helps you!

There is no liquid that will come close to the flavor of menthol and tobacco burning. Sorry, but it's true.

I was a menthol smoker for 14 years, and now as a vapor I'm not satisfied unless I'm vaping menthol. It sucks, because I'd love to try some different flavors, but I get right back to smoking without it.

The best that has worked for me is a very strong peppermint with both menthol and koolada added. Sounds like a bit of overkill, but it works for me. However, everyone's taste is different.

I'd suggest you try ECBlends for juice. They will allow you to add any menthol to their flavors, so you may find a tobacco and menthol flavor that works for you.

Johnson Creek makes the juice for Blu. They use different recipes for their own blends than they do for Blu because of contractual obligations, but they are your best bet for coming close to Blu's flavor.

Good luck!

I don't have a lot of experience with Carto's. I will say that I tried the blu my girlfriend was using and that is where the madness started haha. I personally was a heavy smoker and am a heavy vapor....so the blu did not work all that well for me. But I did find their juice's to be very pleasant to vape. But it was a great starting place and is what got me away from smoking!

Another option I know of for prefilled carto's is: Vapor4Life
They offer a much larger selection of flavors than Blu does atm. I do not have personal experience with them but a good friend of mine wife is totally hooked on them and will not entertain any other vendor lol. However I have no clue if your blu batteries would be compatible or if you would need to purchase a kit from them to use their prefilled carto's. I tried to do a quick google search and didn't find anything at first glance.

I imagine it is possible to refill them if you really really wanted to but if you are going down that road then perhaps something like this may be more suited to you?
eRoll Starter Kit

The set up I ended up using is similar to this but it is not as small and sleek as a blu or mini e cig:
eGo-C Twist w/ CE5 Ultimate Starter Kit

Juice's are very subjective to the user and there are no end to quality suppliers out there to sample from if you choose to go with a setup that allows you to refill easily. I started out being very stand offish about the idea of vaping tobacco flavors as odd as that may seem and still mostly vape sweet and bakery blends. I have come to like these two vendors for those flavors
The Vapor Room.net | Vaporize Nicotine | E Cig Atomizers
Mt Baker Vapor - Electronic Cigarettes, USA made E Juice, and Accessories

As to your newport question it's like Tanti is saying. Look for a menthol blend. I find that a lot of the tobacco juice names will lead you into what they are trying to mimic. But for Tobacco flavors and I find that I have been enjoying them more lately I go with:
Heathers Heavenly Vapes, Top Quality Custom E-Liquids.

Vaping is a pretty big world that is changing very fast. It is overwhelming at times as there is an endless supply of options. So have some patients and stick with it. I hope that you find it to be very enjoyable as I do. It's become a hobby for me and I get excited about trying different products and juices. There is nothing like watching out your window for the mail man to show up lol. So it's a lot of trial and error but well worth the effort. Good luck!

If the starter kit has not already been purchased, I reflect the sentiments posted prior encouraging you to go with a larger battery... I use a variable voltage mod, the only thing that hit strong enough to take my mind off the analogs, but that's an expensive way to get started. As for the juice, Rawr Vapor does excellent tobacco, with that delectably dirty flavor of actually burning the leaf. Check out the JoyEgo (sp?); if you get into it, the accessories you pick up should be cross compatible with most 510 connectors.

Thank you for all the info everyone! I got the starter kit from her today, she had actually bought it for herself a couple weeks ago but didn't like it. Still haven't been able to use it yet as she used the menthol & cherry (I think??) cartridges and I'm not a fan of regular tobacco or coffee flavor (only real coffee for me!) I plan on going out tomorrow to get some of the refill cartridges and see if the smokers shop by me sells the juice, all the info has been a huge help- I feel comfortable that I will be able to refill it when I get something to fill it with.

Hopefully this will help so I can use the money I'll be saving to get something better- cant complain at something that is free though! My husband has already said that if it works for me, even just helps cut down, that he will try it in an attempt to quit also. Seeing people on this forum that have stopped give me lots of hope!

How's it working out for you? Don't be discouraged if Blu doesn't kill your cravings... many of us have had to save for something that delivered more than the cig-alike brands (like Blu or NJoy). I'll just quote PBusardo: "The best device on the market is whatever you're using that keeps you off the analogs."
