Hello all, My wife and I are totally new to vaping. A good friend of ours smoked two packs a day and began vaping about six months ago and hasn't looked back. He let my wife and I try his and we decided to both take up vaping and give up the tobacco. I began to do some research and ordered some supplies. We know have two Volcano Inferno units and two Johnson Creek Veas along with several samples from both vendors. While my wife likes the JC original and the Tennessee Cured. I also enjoy the JC original and the Tundra menthol somewhat, but we both want something else and could use some help. She smoked Marlboro lights before and I chewed kodiak wintergreen dip. Yep, I didn't even smoke before, but I still believe vaping is a far better alternative as I would like to keep my lip and tongue and quite frankly I think we can all agree it is a disgusting habit. We have been vaping for about a week now and she is doing great, while I am doing ....well alright. I'm still getting the nicotine and I actually enjoy the vaping as it helps satiate my oral fixation, but I haven't found a vape I love yet and neither has she. While she is looking for different options that taste more like a traditional analog cig, I am looking for something sweet with less of a throat hit. I have tried a few fruit flavors amd they all taste like cough syrup. I can taste the caramel and.vanilla in some juices and I think that is what I would like. I am considering ordering the creme brulee from Highbrow, but would really like input from some more experienced vapers out there. One last thing, since we are doing this for our health, I would prefer US made with US ingredients to stay on the safe side. Any and all advice or help is welcome because we are serious about this and really want it to work and I think if we both truly enjoy what we are vaping, then it will be a much easier transition. Thanks in advance.

Check out the suppliers pages and you will find lots of choices at their sites. Many offer sample packs that can be bought to allow you to find something that you would enjoy. Some also allow you to build your own sample packs from their choices of available flavors. Other than that I would not be able to guide you on an informed suggestion as I enjoy warmer flavors and never did enjoy menthol anything.

Sorry- I feel the need to correct you... if you are using less tobacco, YOU are doing great too! :)

P.S. sample flavours! I'm so glad I didn't buy a massive bottle of licorice flavour from one vendor...5ml was enough to put me off! If you were introduced through a friend, could you borrow a little of their flavours to see if they have any recommendations? One of the difficulties is that I could recommend, I dunno, 'unicorn flavour' and think it's the bee's knees but your taste buds will be different and think you've swallowed a cow pat! I think a lot of it is trial and error... licorice and delux = error, RY4 = WIN!

I know my flavour advice wasn't much good but take heed of the bit above :) x

You've been given some good advice here, and keep it up!
Tastes are very subjective. Look at some of the vendors and try sample bottles.
A lot of new vapors are looking for the flavor of their favorite cigarette, but that just doesn't exist. There are some wonderful tobacco flavors out there, (JC's Tennessee Cured being my fav atm), but they'll never be able to replicate the taste of burning tobacco leaves. Trust me, once you've been vaping for a while you won't miss it at all. :toast:

I'm just going to make some generalized comments coming from an experienced vapor.

Don't go chasing for a cigarette flavor for your e-juice. It doesn't exist. There's no way to duplicate burning plant material and paper into a flavor. It's a fact. The best the juice makers can do is to come close to what tobacco smells like before it is burned. So, again, don't waste your money.

Instead, try to find a couple of flavors that you wouldn't mind vaping most of the day. You may go through 10 flavors before you even find one. Taste is so subjective; what one person likes another one can't stand. There are so many flavors to try...tobacco, menthol, fruits, candies, deserts, coffee's, adult beverages, etc.

Instead of buying larger bottles of juice to try, try to find vendors that sell sampler packs or small trial sizes. This way you are not wasting a lot of money on juice that will go to waste. When you find a flavor that you enjoy, buy more in a larger bottle.

Realize that your taste buds are shot from years of smoking. They will heal, but it takes time. Until then, your taste in flavors will vary over the next few months. Drink plenty of water, as vaping can dehydrate you. And dry mouth can affect taste.

Allow your nose to assist your sense of taste. Allow some vapor to exhale through your nose. The sense of taste is closely tied to our sense of smell.

I'll leave with a couple of recommended e-juice vendors that I order from regularly. They offer organic flavorings (no artificial flavors to cause a chemical or perfumey taste). Both offer sampler packs. Although these juices can be used upon delivery, they will benefit from steeping (maturing) for 1 - 2 weeks.

Vaperite - currently offering a 20% off sale with the coupon code "20 OFF" at checkout. Vaperite | E Liquid Flavors and Organic E Cigarette Liquid

Virgin Vapors - Organically Flavored E-liquid | Virgin Vapor | Electronic Cigarette Organic e-Liquid | Electronic Cigarettes

Heather's Heavenly Vapes and Alusion got top honors in this year's poll of best e-juice vendors. Perhaps check out their websites to see why they are so popular.

Villain vapors full house is a nice smooth berry juice, and vaping monkeys tropic monkey is Another all day vape. As for tobacco flavors at fist I thought that's what I wanted but it's just not the same. Butterscotch is usually good just make sure you get good American made juices so you know all ingredients are ok for human consumption:) take care and stay wih it when you find your all day flavor you will know it!

Thank you all for your advice and help. The link Robin posted was very beneficial as well. I spent all day researching....and vaping and placed a few additional orders based on feedback from members of the forum. We had already ordered sample packs from Johnson Creek and Volcano, but while some of those are pretty good, I haven't found exactly what I am looking for. Being a former smoker my wife has had an easier time and we experimented with a combo of JC original and Tennessee Cured from Johnson Creek to get a 50/50 mix of PG and VG as many seem to like and she loved it. We may have found her all day vape. Since I didn't smoke before, but dipped, I have had a little more difficulty, but after some research I ordered a few bottles from a couple of vendors who seem popular on this forum like Heathers Heavenly and Highbrow. I am really looking forward to the Creme Brulee and Cheesecake from Highbrow as I am looking for something sweeter than most smokers would like and less throat hit and they custom build it the way I want it. Hopefully one of those hits the spot. Until they come in, I will just keep experimenting with what we have. At the moment, my favorite from what we have is a mix of JC original and Tundra from J Creek. It isn't perfect, but I like the nice vanilla undertone I get from the combo. Anyway, thanks again for all of your help. I'm gonna go vape some more.
