Hi. I am totally new to this. Been a smoker for 8 years and want to try out personal vaporizers. I used a friend's for the first time last week and I am considering one now.

I am interested in the ego twist and was wondering if it cheaper to get a kit, which runs around $85 plus tax, or to build from scratch? Do I really need the extra battery that comes with the kit?

I see a ego c twist battery 1000mah runs an average $27 dollars, with a USB charging cord running $5.
Then do I only need clearomizers/vivitank/kanger tank with replacement heads to complete my kit?

Is there anything else I'm missing? Would it be cheaper to buy these parts individually or to purchase this kit from myfreedomsmokes? Are there any other cheap and reliable stores on the east coast (preferably in the northeast) that you would recommend? I need to order by tonight or tomorrow morning so I could receive it by Thursday before a long business trip (not smelling like cigarettes before a business meeting would be REALLY nice. That is why I am trying this out)

This is a much better kit and it is cheaper than the one you posted. You really should get two batteries because you will then have a backup, as well as a battery that you can use while the other is charging. CE5's are garbage. Even with the replacement heads, I wouldn't see you getting more than 2 weeks out of them. They are the most fiddly clearomizers ever.

EDIT:

You can go for just buying separate items. While I don't personally use Evods, I do think they are a good clearomizer for newbies. They really are just fill up and vape. Not much seems to go wrong with them and they are easy to change coil heads.

If you want cheaper, try fasttech. They will take about 7 to 15 days to get to you since it's coming from china. US vendors, I'm sorry to say I can't help you with. I'm sure someone will chime in with it.

But you do want a back up battery to use while one is charging. And also get backup clero or carto. Which every you choose.

I suggest you get the EVOD head and some extra coils replacement. So you won't be out when one goes poof, which is about 3 days to 1 month use depending.

Regards.

Go with Mike's suggestion... that is a great kit at a great price - there's little to nothing else out there with more bang for the buck. I would suggest the Kanger EVOD or T3 clearomizers in the kit. The T3 can be updated to a T3S by buying a T3S base and coil heads... so it would be just like the EVOD, in that head replacement is a good bit cheaper.

Yep, that is a good, inexpensive starter kit that will keep you happily vaping for months to come. It is one of the few I recommend for newcomers. Easy to use, good vapor, works well with almost any juice you like and, the few parts you will need to replace ever so often are also very inexpensive.

Here's an alternative, that worked for me:
http://www.halocigs.com/triton-tank-system/triton-starter-kits.html
The threading is vGo, instead of eGo, which allows me to switch from a tank to a cartomizer, without having to use an adapter.

Personally, I just got two batteries, two tanks and the charger; I didn't pick a kit. I did pick up the tobacco sampler, but only ended up liking one of the six flavors, which I still smoke daily; going on 3 weeks now (after a re-order of my favorite flavor).

Somewhere out there
I couldn't find he info on their web site, so I checked tracking from my last order, MyVaporStore is located in New York. I didn't get their kit, but it is often recommended around here and I've happy with everything I have ordered from them.

I'd get the kit with two evods, or maybe one evod and one iClear 16. (I dislike the T3).

I agree with the kit that Jazzi Mike recommended. Get the Vision Spinners instead of the eGo Twists - the voltage numbers are far easier to read and the adjustment knob easier to turn (I have both and prefer the Spinners by a wide margin). The Spinners are also 1300 mAh as opposed to 1000 mAh on the Twists (which equates to longer battery life between charges). Evods are good, simple clearomizers which work well and are easy to refill/swap atomizer heads (buy some spare atomizers also - they only last so long).

Having a second battery is a very good idea - not only so you have one to use while the other is charging, but also because these devices aren't fail-proof. It's good to have spares for everything - spare charger/wall wart, spare Evods, spare atomizers, etc. Fortunately, all those things are relatively inexpensive.

An eGo/Spinner kit with Evod clearomizers is probably the best compromise in terms of cost vs. simplicity, quality and functionality for somebody just starting out. Even if/when you buy more advanced devices later, they'll still serve as worthy backups (or a nice setup you can gift to somebody else who's just starting out).

Wow thank you for all your suggestions. You guys are so helpful. I'm pretty excited about this. I just love the idea that I will not be smelling like smoke all the time.

You have no idea how bad you smell! :D

you will be telling yourself:

- Did I really smell like that all the time?

The answer is..... Yup!

Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping!

Is the battery legit? It doesn't seem to be joyetech batteries? Does it matter?
As legit as any other. Halo is well known; they even have their own support forum here. They also make a Twist, available in 650 mAh, and 900 mAh.

I wouldn't stuff an e-cig in a tight jean pocket; it might break.

If this is your first e-cig, you might prefer starting with a slim cigarette (aka a cig-a-like) like the Halo G6 (or just about anybody else out there that makes an 808D-1 threaded e-cig). What worked for me to start, was a slim e-cig with tobacco flavor cartridges, but I'm now on the much bigger Triton, and I'm just starting to explore the flavor choices of e-liquids.

edit: Halo ships out of Jersey: very quick.
