I have been vaping a little over 5 weeks now and loving everything about it. I came into this wanting a couple of great tobacco flavors as go-to, all-day type vapes, and have since tried all of the V4L tobacco flavors in either regular, premium, or both. I was a 22-year smoker, primarily Marl Reds, with Marl Lights, Camels, and the occasional cigar and pipe thrown in over the years.

I enjoy reading review posts and find them very helpful when thinking about trying new flavors. Noticed a lot of tobacco flavor questions lately, so I hope this attempt at reviewing all of V4L's tobaccos can help someone else - keeping in mind that this is all subjective, imho, ymmv, fwiw.

I vaped at least an entire cart’s worth for each flavor, all 18mg, with one great exception (you’ll see). It should be interesting because my reactions too many of these are waaaaay different than most other reviews I have seen. Here goes, in order of preference, by style…

American style cigarette blends:

  • Parliament (Green) – Strong with a rich chocolaty finish and healthy TH. It’s like vaporizing drops of pure awesomeness.
  • Virginia - Very backwoods colonial, smooth and woody with an almost buttery finish. Has a real natural taste to it. A great all-day vape.
  • Cowboy - Strong with a semi-sweet almost honey-like smoky kick on exhale. Good TH.
  • Kamel - Similar to Cowboy but less tangy….less twangy, maybe? Good TH with a slightly sweet finish, but more mellow like brown sugar.
  • Parliament (Blue) – Nothing like Parl Green. Hot and dry, a bit harsh, and a bit woody like burning twigs. For a close to analog taste and feel, this is a good choice.
  • Spirit of America - Everything in the bathroom cabinet mixed together and vaporized. After 3 puffs the carts were quarantined to prevent crossover infusion into rest of stash. Not much like tobacco to me; more like Eau de Soappourri.
European style cigarette blends:

  • Hilton Premium - Strong tobacco flavor and TH with a spicy-sweet finish. The best of the Euros to me.
  • Kant Premium - Pretty smooth but dry vape. There is an undercurrent of sweet nuttiness like pecan.
  • Dunhall Premium - Hits hot and very dry, actually tastes like combusting plant matter, maybe hay. To me this is very close to analogs, Blue Parliament, and maybe dragon’s breath.
  • 555 and 555 Premium - Hot, ashy with a touch of old, dry dirt. I’ve vaped a regular and premium of this trying to appreciate what so many like about it, and I have on occasion tasted that nuttiness many describe, but most of the time it’s more like dirty burning nut husks…or vaporized demon sweat.
Other tobacco blends:

  • RY4 - Tastes like what caramelizing sugar smells like, in a very good way. Premium is similar, just better all around. A different and most wonderful beast all together.
  • French Pipe - Nice pipe tobacco taste on draw. It finishes with a little a hint of something like custard.
  • Cuban Cigar - Tastes like a good cigar. Closest thing to true natural, leafy tobacco taste. Is sweet on draw and finishes with that tingle on the lips as if you just had a cigar in your mouth. I could see a fan of chewing tobacco liking this, as well.
No menthols reviewed here, I cannot do them justice since they all taste real similar to me and I have little by way of comparison having never really liked menthol cigs. I will say, though, that the Smilin Special is pretty special; it’s like really minty chocolate with a kick in the throat…wow.

Thanks for reading.

Cheers,

Thanks for the review, very well done. I'm still pretty new to this only been vaping a couple weeks. Almost analog free, only a few days away and a 30+ year habit will be gone for good! Anyway I wanted a tobacco type flavor to substitute winston and settled on Cowboy and have been very impressed. Yet I know I need to have a back up or two and after reading your post will try the Virginia. :) I have also noticed that my tastes are changing some, maybe I'm growing some new taste buds, lol Again thanks for the review.

LMAO I too laughed at demon sweat.
Nice review and thanks. I only smoke 555 and Kamel.
Personally I think your review of Kamel is almost perfect. I'm hoping they offer a premium carto soon as I haven't seen any so maybe I just miss the shipments?

555 for me however is like a Marlboro light/medium/72 mix
I used to smoke the light 100's and 555 is pretty close with a battery but can get funny after a few hits on the PT for me where Kamel doesn't.

Just my 2 cents on these 2 since it's all I'll vape.
I've had the others as samples and maybe I got bad ones or the AZ heat changes them during shipping? but they don't taste right to me.

really good review. your hitting right on with the sensory perception matrix and associated flavors.

Honey is the prominent flavor to the Cowboy
Caramel is the prominent flavor to the Kamel
Dry is prominent to Dunhall and Parlament.....actually Dry, Hay and Smokey are the three sensory categories that are the high rank for these two brands.

another category on the matrix is Floral.....this seems to be present in the Euro flavors.

i'll post the matrix categories......

~jeff some Cowboy boots have Floral designs on their boots.....and shirts

Thanks all.

The taste differences people have are interesting. It makes me wonder if it is more a matter of biochemistry or perception, or maybe a bit of both.

The only floral hints I got from the tobaccos was the Spirit, but I got a lot of other near nauseating tastes and smells from that :(
I have detected some florals in other flavors like Mount Do, of all things.

Indeed, Premium Parl greens and Virginias will be must buys when they come. I have been wanting the premium Cowboys, too when the 18mgs come in.

RanVapor, when you talked about Parliament Green vs Blue are you talking about regular vs menthol? Went on the site and all I could find was Parliament and parliament Menthol.

Didn't want to order the wrong stuff, any clarification would be appreciated before I order. Regards

The Parliament Greens have green labels on them as opposed to the Blues. They are both tobacco flavored and not menthols.

Vapor4Life- Electronic Cigarette: Vapor King Parlament Cartomizers

Hope that helps :)

Great post, thanks for the detailed review. Keep in mind however, your taste and future opinions may very well change, at least it has for most of us. As you mentioned, your taste buds are already undergoing a transition, which is also tied into the olfactory response (ie change in what you smell also affects your taste). Feel free to update your review in the future if you change your opinions, or as Maxx would say, experience "Menthol Drift". :)
