Okay normally Id figure it out myself but Im finding the TPA fruit flavors a bit inconsistant when dealing with mixing percentages. I have apricot, bananna, and strawberry locked in where I like them. However Im having trouble dialing in some others.

Cola, marachino cherry, key lime, lemon (pg), juicy peach, mango, and grape are all very weak flavor wise from 10-20%. Cola being the oddball here, not a fruit but still having issues with it.

Unlike my tobacco flavors which I like on the light side... fruit flavors I prefer strong and sweet. I have both EM and sucralose (ez sweets) on hand for sweetener.

Any suggestions on what percentage to mix these at, as stand alone flavors? I use a base of 90%VG/10%DW @18mg, and dilute down with flavor and/or dw to end up around 14mg 75%Vg/25%dw & flavoring mix.

Of the ones I have experience with...

Maraschino Cherry isn't what I would consider weak. I've mixed it successfully at ~6%. It doesn't seem to blend well with other flavors, btw.

Grape seems to top out at ~10% and goes downhill from there, but I still find it unsatisfying even at the what I consider it's optimal level.

Key Lime is good, IMO, at ~7%. Like the Grape, I haven't been able to make it ring out as clearly as I would like.

For the record, I haven't attempted to bring these out any by adding sweetener or lemon juice, which may be of benefit.

TPA key lime, juicy peach, and grape are 3 of my faves. I like strong fruit flavors. I use a 50/50 base, and I flavor at 20%, and just dump in some EM to taste. Key lime and lemon are very nice together. I find that the em helps a lot to bring out the flavor. I stopped using sucralose and Tart 'n Sour because I found it to clog my cartos faster. I don't do tobacco flavors, so I have no comparison.

Jewels, how much EM do you use percentage wise when mixing those fruit flavors? Btw, I havent experienced any clogging using sucralose regardless of equipment, but maybe I dont use a ton (usually just one drop per 5ml) or my cleaning methods are different.

And I dont believe its the vg. Ive recently tested some tobacco recipies in both a pg and vg base and found the flavoring amount differences are nominal. I personally do not believe whoever said vg mutes flavors was correct after the tests I did... but I could be wrong.

I usually just add by looking, but I'd guess it's around 2-3%.

This is what I do with good results for TPA fruits:

At least 3 drops of Ethyl Maltol per 5ml. Sometimes just a bit more. It really gives those fruit flavors the sweetness they need.

At least 2 drops of Concentrated Lemon Juice per 5ml. THIS JUST MAKES THE FRUIT FLAVORS POP! If you are feeling a bit daring, up it to 4 drops per 5ml, it really doesn't ruin the flavor but you will start tasting that lemony tart flavor mixed with the fruit flavor. Not a bad flavor at all! You will also find out how much lemon to use and what it tastes like overdone. It really doesn't ruin a fruit flavor when overdone.

Good luck,

Pete

I'm with Pete on the LJ. I normally use 1 drop per 3ml, sometimes 2ml. It has made some acceptable recipes down right enjoyable!

Good luck...
