So, kind of a new members sandbox? Except it isn't in the new members forum ... and there is already The Sandbox where posts are auto deleted after a period time and posts don't affect post-count.

Well, in the New Members forum, the top thing is a New Members Information sub-board, in which are pinned a number of informative posts, including one entitled: "New Members Read! Everything you need to know about the ECF". Granted, a lot rule-ish stuff but testing posts in the sandbox is mentioned.

I'm not saying your idea is bad, in fact, it may well be needed -- but rather than an ad-hoc post perhaps a full tutorial blog/article with pointers to the sandbox for testing that might be worthy of pinning in the new members forum.
