I'm with Mac on this one. I read just about everything (I'm not positive I read 100% is all) he wrote up until he pooched The Gunslinger saga. You know, that series where he said he was retiring after finishing it. I chewed through all his side stories within the stories, most of which had nothing to do with the main storyline, but enough is enough. Even Dean Koontz finally broke away from his 'boy, girl, kid/cute animal, monster' formula but it's too little, too late. Basically, you can call it classic coke but it's never the same, you end up going outside the country to get what you're looking for! Barker is the man!

yes....Zombies....created by a signal sent through cell phones. (Stevie hates cell phones).

King likes to feature baddies that don't really have a "good" or "bad" orientation... they just are. Cujo, IT, Christine... they are all presented as "stuff that happened" without some evil bringing them about... Charlie's pyrokinesis, Carrie's telekinesis, and a million of his bad guys are nothing more than normal things that inadvertantly got fouled up. Even the hotel room in "1408", he implicitly states that the room isn't haunted... it's just bad. No reason it got that way, no way to fix it. It just is.

mac....I'm a Buddhist....so can see how this might appeal to me ? I personally find the concept of hideous monsters, rabid dogs that eat nice people, telepathic kids and dogs and magic mice that all exist for no reason whatsoever alot more scary and interesting than the old good vs evil thing. Besides...he freely admits that some of his books suck..especially the ones he can't remember writing due to an over consumption of beer, nicotine and illegal recreational drugs. :)

That's exactly the same reason I don't remember much of the "80s

Make it the 90's and you cover both me and King. His early stuff up until... I'd say Insomnia was good stuff, then it all started sliding downhill. Hell he wrote the same novel twice and re-arranged the characters in more than a couple...

If you are talking about the Regulators and Desperation... not even remotely the same.... linked loosely by names but nothing else... Also the Dark Tower was epic and its a later work... most of it...

Oh and if anyone want's to hunt zombies as a human or humans as a zombie... Brainchef.com just started a new round last night. I choose to infiltrate the zombie camp and see what brains taste like... Mmmm, I'll fight to the end but brains aint bad!

Zombie Camp!!! You mean they're organized! Great, next they'll hire a lobbyist and argue for Zombie Rights and a brain in every pot! Then gay zombies will want to get married and unemployed zombies will want unemployment pay, and zombies in pain will want medicinal you know what, the list will never end!
