If I don't feel like it or have time to explain I just say, "it's a flavor vaporizer and I'm vaping chocolate right now." I figure it's none of their business if it has nicotine in it or not! If they seem interested I go into more detail about them and how I gave up smoking cigarettes 2 years ago.

I have to be a little more careful. Vaporizer around here doesn't necessarily conjure up warm images of Johnny who has a cold. Vaporizer or Atomizer, in a state that has legalized medical ......... laws conjures up images of people with glaucoma and cancer or a headache, relieving their "pain" with a non-toxic atomizer. They don't look like PV's, and they don't necessarily work like PVs either, but they are called vaporizers or atomizers.

If anyone asks me, I"ll just say, it's a non-toxic cigarette cessation tool my doctor recommended and it works. SO put that in your pipe and smoke it! LOL.

I'm not comfortable with any of the terms, really. Like you said, Miss3, vaporizers are used for herbs and called vaporizors and now there's one that looks a lot like the eGo. I think I'm more worried about people thinking I'm vaping something else...it is California after all.

Well, you could always go back to the original name: Electronic Nicotine Delivery System, ENDS. Whatever you call it, anything is better than a name with the word "cigarette" in it.

I keep hearing people say they don't want their PVs to be mistaken for some illegal drug paraphernalia. That must be a regional thing, mostly in the medical mj states. Around here, nobody would mistake an eGo or Provari for drug paraphernalia. The druggies never use anything so sophisticated, except the relative few who can afford mj vaporizers, and they keep them behind closed doors. And they don't care anyway.

There are so many old people around here that you'd more likely be mistaken for using a nitro-glycerine machine or an oxygen nebulizer.

Personally, I dont give a rat's behind about that... back when I smoked, sometimes I rolled my own cigarettes. Never gave a second thought about people thinking that I could be smoking something else along with tobacco. And the LEO's would certainly not approach every single person smoking that kind of cigarettes, on the same assumption... so, when I switched to the PV (and I have never used one of the 'cig-look-alike' models), I never gave it a second thought either. Just as an example, imagine someone trying to imply that I'm smoking 'something else': it's just a matter of pointing out that while smokers spend 4 Eur on a pack of cigarettes, I'm spending around 80 cents on the same (equivalent) pack... just looking at the price, there's no way I could be 'smoking' anything else than nicotine...!

Whenever anyone asks What's that? I tell them its what keeps me away from cigarettes. They usually congratulate me on quitting smoking. The ones who don't ask a lot of questions about where to get one and how much they cost.

I've always wondered about cops and not knowing what an ecig is. When a cop drives by, i always make sure i'm not vaping, because with the tube mod and the tank, i keep thinking they'll pull me over thinking its a crack pipe.

I think that's a bit of a myth. I've taken 10 hour drives with a buzz with a DOD on it (A strange looking device if there ever was one.) and never gave it a thought. Never had a hassle either. Usually when I'm not vaping it, I have it in my left hand on the wheel in plain view. The only thing that's ever happened is a car full of young men got up next to me and started giving me thumbs up. I was happy to volunteer a comprehensive explanation of propylene glycol, nicotine absorption rates, atomizers and their relative pros-and-cons vis-a-vis cartomizers, lithium-ion batteries, protection circuits, the cost effectiveness of DIY liquids, etc, etc.
