My favorite vape until now has been with a new Suorin cartridge using 70VG. The flavors, to me, were amazing. But after too many unexpected burnt hits, I've been trying to slowly upgrade to using a mod and tank. My first one to come in is a Kbox Mini Platinum 60w that I've paired with an Aspire Triton Mini. I've tried two of my favorite juices so far and cannot find that "sweet spot" I've been reading about. They are both the same exact juices I just love in the Suorin.

The Suorin pod says right on it "1.2ohm (9w-15w)". My first attempt was with a Triton mini Clapton 1.8 with minimal airflow and I tried everything in the 7w-18w range. It was just ok around 11w. So I've switched to a Triton mini Kanthal 1.2 with minimal airflow and have tried 7w-20w range. Best I can find is around 12.5w, but it's still just not that same awesome flavor as from a new Suorin pod.

I have not messed with TC at all because I'm too new and still trying to figure out what I'm doing. Can anyone offer suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong or not doing? Thank you!

I might try opening the airflow a bit?

From what I hear, it's a bit of a transition from pods to other mods, you may have to do some more experimenting with flavors, wattage, and coils, and airflow. It's also possible that the triton mini is just not for you. I would try the various coil types first, but it's a bit of a different vaping experience, so you may need to experiment (including, possibly another MTL tank). Although your pod vape was 1.2 ohm, that does mean a 1.8 coil is going to be more restricted. If you do try another tank (you may find a better coil for you though) I might suggest an ego one mega V2 tank or a Tron-S tank, but be sure to put the Joytech CLR coils in either they make a 1.0 kanthal coil that is very flavorful and a great vape, and it might give you something that more closely approximates your 1.2 coil and the coils can easily be rewicked or rebuilt. If the triton mini (I don't own that tank) has a coil in the 0.7--1.0 range, I might try that, at slightly higher wattage, to see how you do.

Best of luck,

Anna

Hhhmmm... I know from pods, and I do not vape in the regimen you prefer, so I am not certain I can help you. Another thing I don't know about is drop-in coil tanks since I am a coil builder, but you may have simply selected a tank that is not too good on flavor. I hasten to add I don't know that: l I don't use that tank and have never had one. There are some juices that respond to wire temperature differently. A massive coil at 10 watts has a lower surface temp than a small wire coil at the same wattage because the surface area of the coil is greater with bigger wire and the available watts must be divided into the larger surface. Something in this area might also be your problem. Really, though, best for you to wait for somebody who knows MTL and that tank in particular.

Welcome to the board.

You might try a 50/50 juice. Not all mtl coils can handle higher vg. Break out the Nauti, it can handle thicker juice if you aren't chain vaping. Going from a 1.2 to a 1.8 will make a difference as well. You should go to the Tootle Puffer thread and ask their advice. Maybe @Katdarling or @DPLongo22 can help.

I doubt you're doing ANYTHING wrong, Pod, and different toppers (airflow, wattage, PG/VG ratio, coils, etc.) DO emit different tastes/flavors.

I'm kurious tho... If you so like the Suorin pod, why not stick with it for that particular vliquid? If it's giving you "burnt hits" then how bout just turning down the temp?

I don't really think that anyone can give you the exact formula for your particular vape, and one of the difficulties (and excitement) of vaping is that we alllllllllll must find our way, our sweet spots.

You've had a good suggestion from stols. Open the air flow, try a Nautilus? Keep experimenting and you'll eventually find what you like. There are (sadly) no formulae. We have to make our vapes work for us, and that's the journey.

I happen to adore the Joyetech Ego One Mega V2 tanks (aka "Egg Rolls") a lot. Will they work for you? I do not know, but they have been an exceptional pop in coil tank for many of us.

@Letitia, thank you for the vote of confidence. I doubt that we (DPL and I) would be able to do much more than you guys have done here. I DO think that posting in the TPuffs thread might reveal more answers and suggestions, tho, so thank you. Good idea!

When a coil is change in the same set up that previously was spot on, it can have a dramatic taste variation which can render the previous juice tasteless.
re: Triton Mini options: Aspire Triton Mini Tank (The Triton V2 Mini)
"Optional RTA System -
Aspire also offers an optional RTA system for the Triton Mini. Simple and easy to use, this RTA system is designed to deliver everything you love about building your own coils."
Might want to try the RTA system option above and build the first coil to a minimum vape specification of (2.2-2.8 ohms/6-7w/30ga Kanthal A1;5 turns;0.11 inch ID;).
The above coil should give you maximum taste. If you can bend a paperclip, you can build a coil. I don't believe the Clapton configuration is necessary.

If you do not want to build, could try:

As one who believes that some juices are just plain better in certain tanks/coils/ohms/wattage, it should be easier and more cost effective to find a juice for a tank rather then a tank for a specific juice.

So keep the set-up you love and try other juices, similar or completely different, for your new tanks. And don't be surprised if at some point, your current "must have" fades away.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help! I think I've finally hit the right spot and I'm finally starting to taste the yumminess of my juice again. I guess it's just going to be a lot of trial and error as I try each mod and each tank and combo if I rotate them. But for today, I am again a happy camper! :vapor:
