Travel and Vaping Traveling to China

I am planning to travel to China at the end of the month. I will be stopping over in Hong Kong for a few days. I know that E-cigs are illegal to possess in Hong Kong. So I am a bit worried.

I know that some people have flew in and out of Hong Kong with no issues. Do you have any advice to share?

Ponda, I was in Hong Kong last year about 2 months after that law went into effect. Had no problems vaping in the streets, hotel lobby etc... I assume the law might be a little more "In Place" by now, just don't flaunt it, you should be fine.

I'm in Hong Kong right now... went to japan last week and had no probably during the screening.

Nope have not, but I do travel Internationally quite a bit every year and to date (close to 2 years) no problems carrying e-cigs anywhere. When I left Barcelona about 5 weeks ago they were doing a secondary search for US bound planes and went through everything I was to carry-on, no problems.
I will be leaving for Madrid in 2 days, I'll have my e-cig and liquid as carry-on without a worry.

How did I not know that? How can Ecigs be illegal in China? Didnt they invent them? Sorry for the ignorance but I never knew that.

edited to add: oh i see, just illegal in Hong kong. Hmmm that still strikes me as strange.
