Traveling with a "GG"

Hello its Jim,
I am getting ready to fly to Denver from Chicago on American Airlines.
Can anybody tell me what I need to do to be able to take my GG with me so I dont take a chance of it getting taken away from me as this thing looks like it could be a mini pipe bomb?
If anybody knows the rules please inform.

Could you take it apart before you get on the plane so they can tell that it isn't a pipe bomb? I am sure someone here will know the answer
