I would suggest taking the bottle off of the mod and capping it to best prevent potential leaks.

I've had security ask about the juice with a suspicious eye and caution me about "unknown liquids" on board, so I've taken to taking the bottle off and storing it in my liquids baggie. For some reason, that doesn't raise the same issues.

Also, note that all spare batteries need to be short protected (stored in safety case that prevents accidental metal contact with the terminals) whether carried on board or in checked luggage.

You might also get a keener who asks to inspect the device. It does look like a detonator switch, but I've always been able to explain what it is and does to their satisfaction - they just haven't seen them before, in most cases. One chap wanted the reo web site address to check out for himself :).

I've taken these things to 4 continents - never had a leak issue (with the bottle precaution above), never had anything confiscated.

As an airline captain I can tell you that the best way to avoid leaks is to have either the bottle removed or completely empty. Reason is when you fill it up on the ground it's pressurized to ground atmospheric pressure (sea level pressure in FL for example) but when the aircraft climbs to cruising level (usually 35,000 -41,000ft) the cabin pressure is approximately equal to 6,500 - 8,500ft) this differential pressure between what's in your bottle and what's in the cabin will make your liquid want to escape from the bottle.
You then have the issue of the TSA and that really depends on pure luck. Sometimes the TSA guys don't say a thing about e-liquids and sometimes they take it to test it and then give it back to you and then again you can get the trigger happy TSA officer who used to be a mall cop who won't allow you to take it onboard.
My advise to you is remove the bottles from your Reo's and put any e-liquid in your shaving kit.
Have a great trip

I bring my juices and two REO bottles with me. Fill the bottles, put the dripper pieces on the bottles, then cap them off, and leave the REO empty, because I don't like to take any chances. Then when I get wherever I'm going, you can just uncap them and thread them into the REO without having to fill.
