Ok, ever since I saw this mod, I really wanted one and the clone version of it by Infinite is pretty affordable, at around $35-40 for a whole set. I've been searching the forums a lot and I really just don't see it mentioned very much. I've read a couple of posts and reviews on it, but thats about it. Seems like the general consensus is that it is a very well made mod. I know some people aren't crazy about the aesthetics, but I personally think it looks very nice! I like the grooves at the top and bottom and love the tree engraving.

So, for those of you who own one (real or not.. I assume they are relatively similar), how do you like it and how does it compare to your other mods? Can you kick it? How is the firing button and can it be replaced with a magnetic switch (and which one if so)? Any other issues or opinions worth mentioning? Thanks!

It's a superb MOD.

I have the Infinite clone, but a friend has an authentic. I've disassembled them both side-by-side, and I can't see any difference whatsoever other than the authentic's spring in the switch MIGHT be SLIGHTLY more robust. Or not. They hit equally as well, and the artwork is identical in engraving quality and depth.

In short, it's the best clone I've seen of ANY MOD.

If you like it, get one. They are beautiful and function extremely well.

I definitely plan to get one in the near future. I just want to know about the firing button though, I keep hearing people mention issues with their button in general with mechs and that magnetic is better, should I worry about upgrading to that when I get one? FYI, I am new to mechs and don't own any yet but plan to order one soon after I've done sufficient research. I may go with Stingray or Nemesis as my first but I will be getting a ToL after!

No.

Like PWM in regulated MODs, a spring in a switch aren't inherently bad, using cheap springs are. A magnetic switch isn't inherently better despite what many might say (and may be worse because the magnets are so fragile). The best mech switch I've used is a spring powered switch (in the Akuma).

I don't have any issues with my spring in the ToL, but YMMV.

Try it first. If you feel like you need a magnet, look for one, but I'm not aware of any magnets that have been picked out specifically for the ToL (in the same way that there are magnets for the Nemesis). I've heard that Chi You magnets are supposed to work, but the ones I bought (out of curiosity more than anything else) did not.

Kahuna do you mind sharing what magnets you used? I will try it with the normal switch first but if it starts to get fussy, I will have the magnets as a back up replacement.

What kind of center pin does it have? Is it easy to adjust? And how much taller is it than a Nemesis or Stingray in 18350? I'm almost considering not buying the Stingray as my first mod and getting the ToL instead, it's just that it seems the Stingray just has some better functional features like stock magnetic switch and floating center pin.

The center pin is brilliant. It's a telescoping copper screw (screw in a screw that extends both ways). You'll have no problems with a flush fit and tight battery every time. I like it better than the floating pin in the Stingray.

It should be the standard for mech MODs.

I have a Brass Stingray (Hcigar), and I can honestly say that even though I like it, if I had to choose, I'd choose the ToL. I like the aesthetics more, and the lock ring on my Stingray is awful.

I bought the Copper/Red Stingray clone (SXK/Infinite) for my first mech and I've had it for about a week. I'm happy with it for the most part, but the switch isn't perfect. It was pretty sticky when I first got it. I cleaned it out and sanded down the edges and now it's not too bad. It does still, slightly, stick from time to time. If you search for the Stingray, you'll see that others have also had some issues with switches. It does look amazing.

Thanks blue, you are doing a great job of swaying me the other way, I needed some convincing to get the mod I really wanted deep down inside but figured it'd be wiser to get a mod that is generally considered "good" and "beginner friendly". I've been spending too much lately and wanted my first mech to be something solid and not finicky.

I just used the Chi a You magnets from FatDaddys. Worked like a charm. The spring in the stock switch did not agree with me, it had no give for anything but a perfect center press to fire.

It has a copper dual screw set up for the center pin, the top screw adjusts to the atty, the bottom to eliminate battery play.

As for height, it's ever so slightly (about the top cap high) taller than the Stingray, it should be well shorter than the Nemesis, it I'm recalling from memory there. I don't own one any longer.

I've held the setup by infinite. Nice construction, great polish and materials. A little shorter I think.. I had my 4nine with me when I messed with it, in 18500 it was a tad shorter than 4nine, in 18650. My other mods are practically the same size in same configurations. I think it came with optional magnetic switch and hybrid cap also.

The ToL has a hybrid cap? Hmm I might be interested in that but I do like the grooved top ring. Can this mod be kicked? If I get the Chi You magnets, should I get two 2mm magnets or four 1mm magnets? The 2mm ones would be stronger but the 1mm is probably more versatile.

I think I am very close to ordering one.

I know there's a hybrid cap for the original.

I'm waiting to see if Infinite makes a clone of their just released 2nd model. It's for fire. I like it's design more than the Tree of Life.

I'm waiting for Infinite to clone the Ember so that my Infinite ToL can be united with his brother MOD.

If the hybrid cap works for the original, I imagine it should for the clone since its supposedly a 1:1 clone right?

Do all of the models use the black engravings? I see some pictures with silvery or gold colored accents.

Black engravings.

After a search, there is no hybrid adapter for the ToL, but they do make a hybrid dripper. It's called the Elm. It looks good, but a dual coil dripper with no post holes is gonna be a female dog to build.
