just to say, as per Steve said... more and more, it's becoming a point that if you go beyond a soft glow seen in the dark while pulsing, you can be putting yourself at risk.

Metal oxidizes and actually changes when submitted to extreme high heat.

If there's one item about everything I've seen, read, studied a bit, this is the one thing that the crap science does actually have right.

It might look cool and all, but seriously, I wouldn't recommend it.

Why does strumming the coil help? Want the science behind it?
It causes the coils to separate a bit to equalize how the wraps are touching.

This is why I:
  • won't bother going with wire that's larger than 26 (maybe I'll try 24 at some point) but beyond that, you need to crank up the wattage, and it doesn't really do that much more than kill your battery faster.
  • Stick to SS, and prefer TC anyways
  • Do most on my builds as spaced, as since when done right, I can get a perfect deck build and know that it will be perfectly balanced 9/10 times (and confirmed with a very quick pulse to do the minimal dry burn. This includes dual builds.
  • The dry burn is mostly done to "burn" any oil residue or other coating that my wire might have before I wick it.

random coil.. with thick coils i always pulse at low wattage first to bring up the overall temp of the coil up before seeing if it's glowing from the center...
