I tried to drip today, my first time. I made a mod myself by taking the circuit board from a Ego Twist I had. I used a coil/wick from a vivi nova head and cut off the extra wick. I pretty much drenched the coil/wick in juice, but consistently get dry hits.

I even made the voltage low (like 3V, tested with a multimeter), and the resistance is measured to be 2.4. However, I just get dry hits no matter what. I tried to see what's happening by removing the drip tip and firing, and the coil seems to burn very powerfully. I remember dry burning my vivi nova in the past and even with the voltage at 4.8V, it didn't glow as bright or fast.

Could something be wrong? Is the power more powerful than what the number suggests? Or is it because I cut off the extra wick from around the coil, and therefore the wick couldn't hold enough juice?

I turned off the light, and I noticed the coil is glow bright in the portion that is not coiled around the wick. The portion that is coiled around the wick is dark. I have the coil connected to a homemade electrical terminal, so there is a straight portion. Again, the straight portion is lighting up when I press the switch, but the coiled portion is not. So maybe the straight portion that is not touching the wick is giving off dry burn?

thanks
