Hey guys!

So, my blood pressure is through the roof today. I am obsessively chain-vaping trying to calm myself down (lol..probably not the best solution..but oh well!).

Why?

Well. Here's a little background. I work full-time and I also attend a local university (also full-time). I am off for the Summer--Praise Hayzeus--but start up again on September 3rd. In my previous semesters I attended night school or online and still worked 40 hours. The last one, in particular, lead to me feeling like I was going to die because of the lack of sleep.

I decided that I cannot put myself through this next semester and that I need to cut my hours. I now work M-F 8-4:30. I supervise 10 employees that we have all over California. I absolutely LOVE my job. I have worked here for 7 years and they love me as an employee. But I know by asking for part-time I will lose my supervisor status and probably end up at the bottom of the barrel again. So this is a huge sacrifice. But I am willing to make it. My ideal schedule would be M-Th 8-2 (so 6 hours) and Fridays off.

Any advice on how I should approach my boss? I was thinking that I would print out my school schedule, go into her office, and just be straight-up about it. Say "I need to reduce my hours and here is why". Then give her my proposal and see what she says.

Another question of mine is regarding unemployment. In the (rare) chance that they have to let me go because they do not have a position for me with the hours I need, would I be able to file for unemployment? Since I am *willing* to work but they cannot accommodate me? I am in California and I believe I have heard about this same scenario before which resulted in unemployment benefits.

My plan is to get it done and over with tomorrow so I can stop panicking about this! But I am sooooo scurrrred....its such a huge leap for me. At least I'm giving them almost a whole 3 months notice, that's pretty cool of me, am I right?

Thanks in advance guys. :2cool:
