Hey Halo People!
I'm new, my name is Tim and I smoke and use chewing tobacco.......and want to quit. I'm new so bear with me...
Ordered up a Triton starter kit. This is an awesome, awesome forum....love how passionate everyone is about the product, especially you guys! So read alot today and came up with a few question...tried to use the search function, but this is what I ended up with. I appreciate all answers & opinions!

1. Mini Tanks. I understand that they are good for sampling, but to the people that have been using the Triton for awhile...do they get used later on?
2. Once I recieve my kit, can I use the battery right away for a few hours to try? Or does it need to be charged right out of the box?
3. Steeping. Am I correct that this is to get a bottle of e-juice and leave it with the top open and the dropper out over night? Do all e-juices need to be Steeped?
4. For you that have been using the Triton for awhile now.... What would the ideal setup be for you? Number of batteries (and type), tanks, type of tanks (mini, full size) & coils ect.... to be your ideal "useable" setup? Just don't want to order a bunch of stuff thats going to sit in a drawer and not get used later on after I get comfortable....

So sorry again about the new guy questions. I appreciate any answers you guys can share. Thanks!

So Cal
Welcome!

I'll try to answer your questions:

1. Mini tanks: lots of people use them for sampling juice or for discrete vaping when out and about. I find they run very hot, and mine are now not much used, but ymmv
2. I seem to remember you're supposed to let it charge up properly first (although it does come with a partial charge). Once the little light on the charger turns blue it's ready. If you have a little 400mah battery it won't take long to charge fully.
3. You don't need to steep Halo juice - although some of us find some of the flavors are better in a month. However, as a new vapor you're going to find that juice you hate now will suddenly be delicious in a month as your tastebuds mend. You do need to let it get to room temperature if it arrives cold.
4. You can never have too many backups for your backups LOL I have three halo batteries: a 400, a 650, and a variable voltage along with half a dozen triton tanks. However, I also have other mods - three Halo batteries wouldn't be enough for me (I mostly use the Tritons when I"m out and about, but for the first month or so I used them exclusively).

Hope that helps - feel free to ask more questions!

looks like AmandaD covered it all pretty well :)

one thing i can add, is if your getting the Triton Kit you will not be able to use the Mini Tanks....the Mini Tanks work with and are for the G6........there are smaller Tanks you can buy that will fit the Triton when your ready....hope you enjoy your Triton as much as i do!

The mini tanks fit the triton. So do the cartomizer.

Welcome, Hostil!

This place is full of knowledgeable, friendly, and very passionate guys and gals. You made the right choice going with Halo. If it allows you to leave the analogs and dip behind (which it has for many of us), you will agree. A good vape is just more satisfying!

Good call on the Triton. Once you get the gist of it, it's an error-proof, reliable work horse. Total satisfaction. Halo excels in one-stop shopping, granted you do some taste testing and can nail down a favorite flavor(s). They have 22 to choose from.

1. No. mini-tanks are good on a G6, I used them exclusively for months before upgrading. Compared to a Triton tank, they don't even hold a candle.

2. Yes. The Tritons I received came fully charged. Charging times on average is 2 hours. At that point, the solid red light will turn off and the blue light will go from flashing to solid blue. That's the metaphorical green light. :vapor:

3. Some flavors change dramatically after a good steep. Some do not at all. This comes down to personal taste, and again, sampling flavors, as none of our taste buds are wired the same.

4. My ideal setup (if I could do it all over again...) would be skipping the G6 all together (even though it's a great cig-a-like), skipping the Triton starter kit (even though it comes in a slick case), and just ordering what I wanted separately. I would never buy a 400 or 650mAh when I could get a 1300mAh for $3 more or a 900mAh Variable Voltage for $13 more. So that's exactly what I ordered.

Since you already ordered the starter kit, you can consider larger capacity batteries and (maybe) a VV in the future, whenever it starts to call your name. Just make sure you have spare coils on hand, they are the life blood of the system @ $12.50 for 5 which makes them $2.50 a pop, and you're good to go.

You don't need to steep Halo juice

It's tough, but even in my week of vaping I've found that if I let the juices sit opened for an hour and then close and shake it they'll taste much better the next day. A couple of others I've tried I've still got sitting and they still smell and taste wrong.

The whole steeping/breathing thing is up to your taste. Some flavors are perfumie, while others are wonderful right out of the bottle (at room temp). I like kringles curse, tribeca out of bottle. While voodoo needs some time, for me anyway. At first your taste buds are going to be crazy! The first juice you try, you might not like til you get your tasters back. Smoking really dulls your taste buds, I have no idea what chew would do to them.

Holy Crap!! You guys are awesome!! I honestly did not expect that many replys in such a short amount of time! And I appreciate all of them as well as anyones else that would like to chime in!
So I think I'm clear on almost everything...but the steeping. What exactly is the steeping process you all like to do? Open for an hour, overnight, a day???
Thanks again!

Hello and Welcome!!! looks like I get to type less :) all covered. congrats! and good luck with quitting! you can do it!

I let mine sit open in a dark closet for about a week, give it a shake and vape away. PLEASE remember that jooze has nic, and nic is poisonous, if you are going to let the bottles sit open make sure they are out of reach of kids and pets!!!

Cracking the seal and opening the bottle is the most important. I like to use the built in dropper to aerate into the juice, just squeeze it a few times to introduce oxygen to the mix. From there, you can let time do it's thing.

What flavors are you starting with?

Okay, so steeping is leaving the bottle open for a period of time to breathe...plus aeration.
Flavors was the big question... First the amount of units avaliable was making my head spin... then picking a flavor made it spin even worse. I went with the tobacco sampler. Which after reading I wasn't sure if I should have bought some mini tanks. Not sure I would like the gourmet, but would really like to at least try them. Was never a menthol guy...but again would definitly like to know what it's like. Just worried about wanting to try all the flavors it's going to be a huge task cleaning tanks and wicks in between. And the fact I'm only starting out with 2 large tanks....

LOL... You're gonna NEED MOAR TANKS!!!!! there is a sticky on this forum that lists all of the retail stores that carry halo gear, maybe you get lucky and there's one near you. pick up some mini tanks, they are inexpensive and great for sampling.

Finding your ADV (All Day Vape) is probably the most time consuming obstacle.

All the best hardware in the world is nothing if you don't utterly enjoy the flavors you're inhaling!

I'm a menthol guy, and Mystic is the best of the 4 menthols Halo has. Also the best selling menthol, according to their FAQ. If you weren't much of a menthol smoker, you can probably exclude these from your testing.

Since you got the Tobacco sampler, my money is on you liking Tribeca the best, as per the usual.

Don't be afraid to order 7ml samples of the flavors that sound most intriguing to you. That's how I discovered my favorite flavor ever: Southern Classic.

Order a couple more tanks or carts/mini tanks to test the flavors, and do a search on how to keep the coils clean.

1. Mini Tanks. I understand that they are good for sampling, but to the people that have been using the Triton for awhile...do they get used later on?

1. Mini tank are a warmer vape than the triton tanks and yes they are good for sampling. Cartomizers are also good for sampling and cheaper than the mini tanks plus you can use the cool cone that comes with your Triton kit. Both the mini's and carto's are good and work great with the Triton but really it is just your preference.

2. Once I recieve my kit, can I use the battery right away for a few hours to try? Or does it need to be charged right out of the box?

2. Make sure you let the batteries come to room temperature if it is cold outside. Triton batteries are suppose to come charged so you can use as soon as they are room temp. Press the button 5 times fast to turn off and on.

3. Steeping. Am I correct that this is to get a bottle of e-juice and leave it with the top open and the dropper out over night? Do all e-juices need to be Steeped?

3. "Airing out" is letting the juice sit without the lid for 2 - 24 hours. This will depend on your preference. Some juices have a chemical or perfumey smell and it helps to let those air-out.

"Steeping" is letting a juice age like a fine wine. Shake the hell out of it to mix it up good and shake it often then let it sit with the cap ON in a dark place. Sunlight is not good on ejuice it breaks down the nicotine. Most Halo juices are pre-steeped but sometimes YOUR tastebuds may prefer a longer steep time. Non-Halo juices sometimes do require you to do the steeping because they made the ejuice when you placed your order for it.

Ideal setup.....okay you have 2 650's batteries and 2 tanks in the starter. I'd order a vv battery and another battery of your choice perhaps 4 more tanks, a pack of replacement coils in the standard 2.2-2.4 ohms resistance and another charger for a backup. I'd order a pack of cartos and a couple of mini tanks for sampling and the experience.

I like the 650's for the smaller discreet size others like the bigger batteries for longer charge time. Although the "bigger" batteries aren't that much bigger. LOL

Oh and Welcome Hostil we are glad your here come chat with us if you dare in the unoffical chat thread. LOL
