Hi All!

This is my first post here, I'm reading forums here for a few months now as I'm trying to quit smoking, I got from 20+a day to 5 a day and will quit completely in the next few weeks.

So this is my question, I had a Tecc curve mini 2 starter kit (bought that about 2months ago), tried around 8-9 different liquids and finally found what I love, SB madrina 18mg 70%VG i think, but then I decided to upgrade so I sold my curve mini to a friend and bought an Aspire Odyssey/Quest mini kit, and now I am using the same liquid only in 12mg as 18mg seems to be a bit harsh in this tank, I'm getting loads of vapor maybe even too much as my lungs somethimes feel so full of vapor I can't even breathe, but I got used to it after a few days, my real concern is that the taste is so smothered in this tank (with clapton coil and regular nautilus coil) it has nothing to do with the old taste that I was getting from tecc curve. Do you have any advice? btw I vape mouth to lung only.

I've read about aligning the coil holes with the tank holes, I will try that when I come home today, any other ideas?

EDIT: max wattage was 15 and minimum was 8 that I used

Thanks a lot! :D

Some tanks/clearos just transfer flavour better than others. The claptons however, should give you at least a little better flavour over the regular coil.
Higher temperatures, if you are using temp control, can also change the flavour, not usually for the better. It depends on your juice.

OH and Welcome to the forum my friend.

Thanks!!

It says in the book that clapton coils have to be between 13w and 16w so that's what I was doing, any thought on nautilus tank? would that be a better choice? I though this is just like nautilus only better as it is newer and has the same coils.

The Nautilus mini is one of my favorite tanks and a good tank for MTL vapors. Sometimes it's just playing around with the tanks and juice with the mod to find that perfect sweet spot. Also, welcome to ECF! :)

Probly not gonna be a big difference between the two. That said though, sometimes a seemingly small change can make a noticeable difference.

Some liquids just taste better at lower temps/wattages, regardless of the coil or tank design.

Trial and error is a must. A book of numbers will not likely help as only you know the taste you're going for.

I will try nauilus this weekend from a friend and see how that works out for me, but I really wouldn't like to spend any more money as I gave €90 for this kit and nautilus would be another €40

Thanks, first I will try adjusting the holes on the coil and the tank, and see if that works...

I think another thing that effects the flavour is the air flow within the tank. I don't have the Triton Mini, but I do have the full size Triton V2. I use the same coils in that as I do in my Nautilus tanks, and the Triton makes the flavours so muted, whereas the Nautilus flavours just pop.

What I do is use the Triton in the morning. After brushing my teeth and while drinking coffee, I don't like a lot of competing flavours. So a muted tobacco flavour is just perfect then. Once I'm more awake and the toothpaste taste is gone, I can switch to something more flavourful.

Thanks for your reply janiegrl!
So you think it's the tank? I can adjust the airflow on the tank, and it's mostly closed all the way as that feels almost the same as analogs but I tried with airflow as well, I am kind of confused here, I tought that if you use the same coils in same wattage range and if the tank is a little different the flavour would be the same?

I do think it's the tank. I've heard good things about the Triton, but in my experience, the flavour of the Nautilus is far better. It may be better with the lower ohm coils, but I prefer a MTL draw, so I stick with the 1.8 ohm varieties.

Which coils are you using? And how many watts with each coil? Maybe a different coil will give you a better result.

I don't wish to be unhelpful, but if you had a TECC Curve 2 than you had an Eleaf tank before. If it was good, buy another one.
I prefer my $12 Eleaf GS tank to any $45 Aspire nonsense, which is how much they are extracting from the UK public.
Aspire have lost the plot in England (UK) and deserve much dis-credit. It's unacceptable.
I'm guessing you worked out TECC aren't exactly on the 'value' side of things either.

Hi djsvapour!

thanks for your reply, to be honest with you I did some stupit sh*** in the last two weeks, I was happy with my curve 2 mini so I thought if this €50 kit is so good than a €100 kit will be awesome, so without knowing anything about sub omhing and DTL I went and bought SMOK micro 80w of course for DTL, lost €20 as I sold it two days later (I only vape MTL), and then I did some research online and figured nautilus would be a good investment, but then the guy advised me to get a kit as it would be cheaper then to get everything separately, and lets just say he was right, I went home and googled some more, read a lot of good stuff on this quest kit, and since it is the same company that produced nautilus I figured it's the same tank only improved, so I went for it and now...well now I'm typing this :/

For me (and it might only be me) if I buy stuff it rarely gets wasted in the long run. I come back to tanks that didn't do it for me one day and enjoy them for a while. Mods are all good (you can not have enough really if some bad things come to pass in the EU) and I guess with all these things, you either keep or sell and selling is better sooner than later as things tend to be eventually worthless. I am down on Aspire at the moment (£32 tanks, no easy option to buy coils from Fasttech, generally making out they are some 'special' brand) and have even gone back to Joyetech after all those broken mods that cost £100 and never lasted even 6 months.
It's a long road, man; especially for us 3-5 year vapers (who bought some really bad kit back in 2012/2013)... we just keep trucking on, staying off the smokes and enjoying the ride.
Personally speaking, I have yet to find a tank that covers both MTL and Direct TL vaping. Lots say they are, but it's not my experience. I bought some Kayfun Monsters (Fasttech special) and I absolutely love those tanks, but I can't take them to work and tootle puff in the corner... :)

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
I wouldn't get caught up in all the advanced coils and mega wattage stuff , i have tried every coil known to man and the simplest gives me just as much flavor as the most advanced , just wick it correctly .

A Nautilus tank with a BVC coil provides excellent flavor and plenty of vapor

I did a blind taste test with a nautilus mini, Triton Mini, and a Kabuki clone all using the same nautilus 1.6 ohm coils and same juice, same power (8.5 W), same drip tips. Verdict - flavor was the same in all three. I shouldn't have been surprised since it's the same coil being used. The Kabuki clone does have a smoother draw so I suspect that's why many claim the Kabuki has better flavor. But the top fill of the Triton Mini now has my Nautilus Mini's retired.

For me the regular nautilus can't be beaten for mtl vaping and i love the 5ml capacity. I tried the 1.8 clapton coils and they seemed the best at around 13w for flavor. Going to go back to the 1.8 nautilus BVC though.Run them at 10w and very similar flavor to the claptons but seem to last a lot longer and saves a lot on battery life.Good luck with whatever you choose!

So what do you think why am I getting that smothered flavour from triton mini? And I am using the same BVC coils 1.6omh from nautilus, I don't really get it, it's the same liquid and the same coil just a different tank (and triton mini was supposed to be for mtl as well)
